Afro Latinos in Hollywood's all-star line-up of actors, writers and producers shared their stories of what it means to be Afro Latino and how they are successfully navigating the Hollywood landscape. The conversation was moderated by comedian/actress/writer Aida Rodgriguez. A regular on some of the nation’s most iconic comedy stages, Aida has hosted and been featured on numerous TV and radio programs including, Comedy Central’s The Nightly Show and PBS’s Imagen Awards.
FEATURED PANELISTS:
Andre Royo (Actor, Producer, and Writer.) He is best known for his role as Reginald "Bubbles" Cousins on the HBO crime drama series The Wire. Royo currently appears on the hit drama Empire on FOX.
Allen Maldonado (Actor, Writer, Director and Entrepreneur) - Best known for his hilarious, recurring role on ABC’s Black-ish and as a staff writer on STARZ’s hit series, Survivors Remorse. Allen also stars opposite Tracy Morgan in THE LAST OG, his highly anticipated new series on TBS Executive Produced by Jordan Peele.
Lisa Vidal (Actress) - Recently seen on the BET series Being Mary Jane, which premiered to record numbers, Lisa also recurred on the Emmy-nominated series Shameless and on American Horror Story for F/X.
Carlito Rodriguez (Writer/Producer Empire) - Current Writer/Producer on Fox's hit series Empire, award-winning Carlito Rodriguez has also contributed to various media outlets, including MTV, VH1, and BET.
Santa Sierra (Writer)- Writer for one of Netflix's most popular shows, Narcos (Season 3), Santa Sierra is currently a story editor for Starz’ upcoming dramedy called Vida.

    I remember when I first came from Nigeria in the 90's back in the days everybody wanted to be black american and didn't want to have anything to do with Africa, Now they realize being black american is really not the deal they thought it was, and Africa is not as bad as white supremacists have portrait it to be. Hey you're all welcome to Africa if you want to come, we Africans are the most welcoming people. We don't hate or discriminate.

    SMH a lot of mirthless cackle! Your prelude defeated the Premise of your arguement, when you accentuate your so called Latiness, or spanishness over your Africaness.

    Bottom line, you guys just claim black or African when it comes to the culture and music. That's why people dare you to claim "black" or African first! In a America you have claim BLACK period, or you're not!
