Afro-Feminism: A way to liberate African politics | Murunwa Mutele | TEDxLytteltonWomen

Murunwa's talk is a call for action to challenge patriarchy in African politics. It challenges the legalization and normalizations of patriarchal politics in Africa. Her talk teaches the audience about Afro-Feminism politics and the need for women in politics, since the population of Africa is largely female. This talk pleads with the people who have political power to open up political positions for women, because it has been almost 6 decades of political independence in Africa, and men have been the forerunners in building the political structure in Africa. Murunwa was born on the 01 October 1999 in Pretoria. She brought up by both parents and have three siblings.Growing up was quite shy until my early teenage years. She always loved talking and sharing ideas with people around her.She is the type of person that stands up for what she believes in, she is not one that backs down easily.
Murunwa is a young woman who finds joy in writing stories and sharing them on her typical word press blog. She is a routine type of person, so planned schedules are the best way to get going..She enjoy doing online activism work and sharing her plant-based diet recipes with facebook friends, which means she is a typical millennial “feminist”girl navigating through the world trying to share her ideas of an equal and inclusive world.. No matter how they talked about women, she never feel the need to mask the type of woman she is. She a go getter and she have found myself studying toward a national diploma in Chemical Engineering. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

The opening part is perfect and should be an opening to some book that should be studied in schools. Empowering and embracing Afro-feminism is not just a movement; it's a symphony of resilience, celebrating the strength and wisdom rooted in the rich tapestry of African heritage, forging a path towards equality and justice for all. I just love how she captures the whole topic and also adds her personal experience. Beautiful ❤😊

As Whiteman I support African women leading Africa into modernity, they have always led their countries but over time, muslim have advocated for increased placement of women into nonleading role. That might work for arab, but Africans need women as leaders. Other races I would say the men are good leaders, except most India.

We need more empowered and strong African women. It is unffortunate that not all African women like her.

Africa should be more developed than it is all those men there and Africa is still sitting still in time.

@@lisa196409I agree Africa should doing far better than it is now. But it is not evident that if most African leaders were women, the continent would be better off. I have worked under women who were equally corrupt.
