WOW! Some incredible violets in shapes, colors & sizes I didn't know existed! I'd like to get a small rack with maybe one or two grow LED's. Is there a beginner / budget light you'd suggest for a small set up? Your videos are my go to inspiration & care guides! Thanks :)

Thank you! It depends on the length of the shelf. The new one that I just purchased comes in different sizes, here is a 1-ft option: www.amazon.com/Barrina-Lights-Indoor-Spectrum-Sunlight/dp/B099PLYWCM/. There are also 2ft, 3ft, etc. I just measured the length of the shelf and picked the ones that fit. For the rack, you can use any shelving option that you like, there are ways to affix the lights to any kind of material. I'll show how I fixed mine to the glass, for example, in the next light setup video. Happy growing!

True that!🌸😊
Will you be doing a video above the reasons why you are moving standard African Violets to a top watering system? I would like to see it, if you do!❤

Yes, that's the plan! Thank you!
Btw I have. Lituanika plant but it has multiple heads compared to yours? Should I divide? I thought it was a trailer so it would grow with multiple heads

No need to divide, you are right that it is a trailer growing multiple crowns. Mine is a young plant that was recently repotted, so it hasn’t grown new crowns yet. Happy growing!
May i ask, how deep are your plant shelves since you use 2 light strips on each? Thanks

About 16 inch deep, I will try finding the Amazon link with all dimensions for the new light setup video…

@grayturtleviolets thanks for your prompt reply. I am shopping for new lights and trying to decide how many per my 24 in shelves. I guess 2 would be sufficient or at least try it to start. Thanks again and happy holidays !

@@SS11660 yes, 2 per shelf should work. I will be providing an update on the new setup soon. I like them so far, they do have a couple of things the manufacturer could improve: the connector cables are too short to connect between shelves, so I had to buy longer connector cables, and the double-sided stickers are not strong enough for glass shelves, the lights fall down and I had to fix them with zip ties. Happy holidays!

@grayturtleviolets I remember you saying somewhere that you changed the old hooks to zip ties to lower the lights. I have used zip ties on my stand now without any problem. Thanks for the tips especially about the connector cords.
I've been waiting on this video about lights. I am thinking of changing mine. I will look forward to it. My lights sometimes changes the colors of the blooms. Can you address that in the video please. Thanks for sharing.b

I picked the 'yellow' Barrina lights this time mostly because I didn't like the pink shade in the Barrina 'white' lights I had purchased previously, distorting the true color of the blooms and leaves growing under. As far as the actual bloom color change, I did notice slight changes in the color intensity, rather than the actual color, with the red spectrum helping intensify the color of the blooms. Here is a blog helping understand how each color of the spectrum works with plants: californialightworks.com/blog/what-is-the-best-led-spectrum-for-growing/

@grayturtleviolets thank you. I will definitely check these out. I have been using orchid lights which have extra red in the spectrum but they are expensive and not necessary for violets. Looking for an alternative. Thank you again.
Is it expensive to have grow lights?

There are different options on the market, including more and less expensive. Given that they use less electricity than regular incandescent or fluorescent lights, it’s a good return on investment, in the long run.
