Letty the African Grey!
Follow Gotcha and family on Instagram!: / gotcha_the_cockatoo
I had her in the kitchen for awhile so I could clean her cage inside and out without disturbing her and to put groceries away.
She won't talk to or around the camera if she sees it so I had to hide it lol.
She's been getting so comfortable with me these past few weeks! It's taken over 2 years but we are FINALLY get there!
It's almost like she suddenly realized I'm a pretty nice human 😉 lol.
She hasn't tried to bite me hard in months.
She's been a handful lol! Thankfully atleast my husband has been able to take her everywhere and help preen her and shower her, she adores him.
I love this sassy little lady.
She's going on 13 (we think, according to previous owners) this January.
She'll be with us forever 💜.
In case some of you don't know yet, she's not at all like Gotcha. She's perfectly content being independent and doing her own thing about 90% of the time.
That's fairly common for African Greys though so it's not surprising that she would rather relax on her cage and do her own thing, than go outside, play in an indoor snow pit or toss a ball around 😉 lol.
Cockatoos and African Greys are very different from each other.
No two parrots at exactly alike.
Thanks for watching! 💙
❗️❗️❗️85% of parrots are either resold, given away, or abandoned within just 2 short years of being purchased. ADOPT DONT SHOP!
I cannot stress enough how heartbreaking this sad truth is.... Too many people impulse buy parrots because of cute or funny traits they've seen in other birds. No two parrots are alike...
A life stuck in a cage is cruel and so unfair to these magnificent beautiful creatures.
They deserve the absolute best!
So if you are interested in a parrot, adopt one because you have the time and energy and if you want to save them from a life stuck behind bars, not solely because they are cute or funny etc.
parrots are a LIFETIME commitment. They can live up to 80+ years!!
I've given up many many things to give my two parrots the best life they can possibly have! (Night out, gone on weekends, vacation time, a clean quiet house, extra money.. Etc.)
But it's all worth it, my parrots are my family and I love them like my children!
Please DO YOUR RESEARCH before adopting.
After all, we have our friends, our jobs, and our hobbies...
They only have us💗❗️❗️

I have a African Timneh who does not anything but meat, she Did not eat anything for 2 whole days when I refused to give her meat. she is so stubborn it's unbelievable. I've tired every parrot pellet/food there is, she refuses it. I don't know what to do.

Letty sounds like a guy when she says 'no'. The sudden change in her voice to deep and masculine is hilarious! I love it when she shouts 'woo'. It always cracks me up. There's more 'oo's' than 'woo's' in this video. But thats funny too.😃

Went to the pet store a few years ago and they had a young gray that sat on my sholder the whole time I shopped. she had not spoken ever but decided that she really liked me and chatted away and keeped telling me she was a prity girl and a weird little purr noise. we almost took her home that day because as we left she had a tantrum and mimicked me talking to my partner in my voice. I could not take on the responsibility with my partner dieing of cancer and a beautiful young gray needing alot of attention. but I will never forget the little gray that spoke to me. hope she found a good family!! 💗💙💛💚💜❤

I went to visit a bird store in spokane washington & the owner put a baby cockatoo in my arms right when I walked in the door. He didn't even know if I knew how to handle birds, this baby couldnt even hold on to me yet(3 mo old). Yes it's adorable, yes I did secretly want this exact breed of bird, but no I was not in a position to buy this bird. The owner did not speak to me the whole time I was there holding the bird. Did not tell me anything about the bird. It seemed like his selling tactic to perpetuate an impulse buy. It saddens me to look in hindsight at the potential danger the shop owner is putting this baby bird in. He should have asked me if I wanted to hold the baby & have me wash my hands for gosh sakes! So many grubby hands on that poor baby every day. I will never support Sparky's bird store. To him a bird is an object, not a delicate & emotional creature with needs that require intelligence & understanding of mutual respect, it's not a show-off toy. Props to you for not giving into the cutness, its not easy! Plus I get my cockatoo fix watching Gotcha!

  • @GotchaBird

    @GotchaBird

No abuse. She's just particular about people. Greys are typically one person birds. As far as we know she bonded to the man in the house of each home she's been in. which unfortunately is a reason for so many times she's been rehomed as it was the females in the house that wanted a relationship with her. They didn't give her the time she needed to trust them. People give up too quickly I suppose

They are one person bonders yes, (like snuggle time close bonds typically) but ours did eventually warm up to the whole family, and interacted with each person in special ways. Ours was a re-homed African Grey as well. One of their very young boys had severe allergies to his dander. It takes time, and patience, but so worth it. Greys have a loooot of character when they get comfortable and get going. (at least that has been my experience) Ours learned our names (well he called my mom and dad, mom and dad) and even the names of our other birds and our cat.... he did know my name, and he said it when he wanted things.. otherwise he teased me by calling me laundry and laughing.

I enjoy Gotcha and Lettie so much. I don't watch any other cockatoos on here and it's because the ignorant people who own them. Sick of people who teach them to curse and say stupid things for their own amusement. I respect the fact that you keep yours clean. I don't have to worry about my grandchildren watching Gotcha and Lettie. thank you so much! Good bless.

Pretty koolie Parrot. One of my favorite❤species actually. I like their color, especially their Red tail feathers. . . .the fact that they are able to learn to talk, & can I imitate so many different sounds as well. Unfortunately, l am pretty sure my Kitty girl wouldn't tolerate one. Thanks so much for sharing this w/us Gotcha the Cockatoo.

She really trusts you to hang upside down by ONE FOOT!!! Amazing!!! I know nothing about birds I'm actually a lil scared of them plus I have 3 cats but my husband and I died laughing at Gotcha having a tantrum about getting down. So thank you!!! We really needed a good laugh together. Oh and I put bells on all 3 of my cats collars cuz I heard it's helpful to birds so they can hear them coming. 😽💋

Cissy2cute African Greys are incredibly good mimics so it's no surprise although it is rather funny what they can choose to mimic. ^_^
