Mohabbatein is my favorite Indian movie. Can never watch the songs too many times. The girl in the orange outfit was married to a man who was a soldier that went missing while in a conflict. He is dead, but his father refuses to accept it. So the daughter-in-law continues to live with him acting as a married woman waiting for her husband to return, even though she knows he's dead. In the meantime she falls in love with another man, but they can't be together since she's behaving as a married woman to please her father-in-law. During this song, the father finally accepts that his son is dead, and he frees her to go be with the guy she is in love with.

The man who rubbed the girl’s forehead removing the read powder was her Father in law. The red powder is called Vermilion. Hindu girls who are married fill the partition of their hair with it first when they get married by their husbands and afterwards for their entire life. It is a symbol of her faith and dedication towards her husband’s long life and their blooming love. In the movie, the girl’s husband had been missing for many years and he was presumed to be dead. She rejected the man whom she loved (the one playing the musical instrument) as she did not want to bring disgrace to the reputation of her marital home. When her father in law rubbed off the vermilion from her head, it was a silent message that he had accepted his son’s death (because the girl used to apply it only for the sake of her father in law who always believed that his son his alive and will come back to them one day) and is setting her free from the marital bond so that she could unite with her love.

This section is a Valentine’s Day evening song where the lovers meet and unite , the 3rd pair was incomplete coz the girl (who ran in the end part) was apparently married to a soldier who died but the father refused to believe that , she was carrying a dead marriage and she is actually a widow , she fell in love with the guy but nearly sacrificed her love for the father in law who at last understood and freed her by accepting his son’s death and wipe of the vermillion from the girl’s forehead ( that’s a sign of married Hindu women ) . This s a cult romantic drama and u guys must watch it .

AMITABH BACHCHAN is Principal and SRK is music teacher and JIMI SHERGIL,JUGAL HANSRAJ,UDAY CHOPRA are students and Amitabh’s rule is NO LOVE when you are in college but SRK support them that’s why when they saw Amitabh they all are looking like that 😂
