I did my ancestry kit from ancestry last month and still waiting for my results. I’m so excited to see what comes back. I’m glad I came across your video because I never heard of the African Ancestry and that’s something that would be a better fit for me

This dna company" DOESN'T" match you the tribe that you share the most dna with. What they do is match the origin of your maternal lineage about 2000 years ago and then pare if with matching African tribes to find a match.

@shotdance3005 Those are Autosomal result companies that give people their ancestral breakdowns. African Ancestry gives us our Mt (the Matriclan or Y, the Patriclan) ancestral DNA IDENTITIES. 😉

Yesss I’m so happy for you!!❤️❤️ I’m Fulani & Yoruba on my mother’s side 🇳🇬.i luv African ancestry & the group because they give you so much more insight on how DNA works etc.the difference between AA and the other tests like Ancestry,23& me ,MyHeritage etc is because those are autosomal tests so they test your whole DNA makeup from mother & father & they have less samples to compare with. AA is the most accurate because they have 33,000 lineages to compare from vs 200-1,300 ..is as African Americans were mixed with so many different ethnic groups & that’s what I looove about is ❤️❤️❤️ Congrats🎉🎉🎉

I’m looking to do the PatriClan test so I can trace my paternal lineage back to Africa, (unless I do FamilyTreeDNA and see if my Y-chromosome is that of an A, B, or E and have them do an analysis report) I am looking to do the MatriClan test to learn about my paternal grandmother and encouraging my father to take the test for me.

Congratulations👏 sis❗ But it doesn't tell you what most of your DNA is, the other companies give us a sampling of that. This company tells us the specific African people one's Mt and or Y DNA is ie. the Earliest parents but it could be what one is the least of also, such as myself and my Middle Eastern Mt DNA.

How does that work then? Two tests have told you you're mainly Nigerian (one specific saying you are Igbo). Then the African DNA says you are Sierria leonian. I Notice that 95% of the time the African DNA comes up as sierra leonian or cameroon for Americans. Unfortunately I am not convinced with the African Ancestry test. I have ore confidence in the other two. One of which I took and linked up with my second cousin. Then again it could be the difference between the maternal and the paternal lineage

  • @sincerelyvali

Hey there! I can see how these DNA test can be quite confusing sometimes. According to some of the feedback I’ve gotten on this video, the company AA matches you with the origin of your maternal lineage (Dating back 2000 years). So although Nigeria makes up the highest percentage of my genetics, the origin of my mom’s family started in Sierra Leone. I assume the “Igbo” ancestry on my 23 & Me test could’ve been ancesty from my dad’s side that popped up (but I’m not 100% sure). But this is how I understand it so far. Thanks for watching & for leaving feedback! 😊

Congratulations! I’m currently waiting for my patriclan test to come in the mail. I took the 23 and me test initially and that got me down this DNA rabbit hole. I’m now currently waiting on my results from LivingDNA and MyHeritage DNA test kits. 23andMe has me at 87% west African: 30% Liberian, 28% Nigerian, 20% Sierra Leonian. I took my 23andMe raw DNA data and uploaded it to LivingDNA and they have me at 92% west African @ 52% Nigerian. That’s why I ordered the test kit from them. How long did it take for African Ancestry DNA to give you your results after you mailed it in?

That’s so AWESOME! DNA discoveries are so fascinating! It took me a total of 40 days to receive my results from African Ancestry after I mailed my sample ….so roughly a little over a month. On average, I think ppl who have taken the test get their results back within a month or so. Good luck!

Congratulations!!! African Ancestry does not tell you where most of your DNA comes from. They tell you which tribe, the living person they match you with, comes from, in Africa, on a single branch of your family. In your case, your mitochondria dna. Still extremely valuable knowledge. But it’s a single ancestor, on a single branch. The autosomal DNA test, are the DNA test which tells you where most of your DNA comes from. But once again… this is EXCITING NEWS! CONGRATULATIONS!!

@@candyxox more like your ethnicity, you can't pin point your tribe through DNA DNA showcases all our heritage/ ethnicity but it can't pinpoint one's tribe , or clan , village or immediate family It only gives us a broad view of our admixtures What they call tribe to you , is actually ethnicity For example, I am of the Igbo ethnicity ( but a lot of people mistake it for a tribe ) In Igbo ethnicity, each tribes in it has a different dialect For example just like English, the way the Americans, Australian, Jamaican etc speak it is different But we still understand it , as Igbo people That's what tribes in each ethnicities is And there are minor traditional differences For example in Igbo again, if a man impregnate a woman from an Igbo certain tribe , wether the man is from the same village or not As long as she has taken in before marriage, the child belongs to the ladies family and bears her surname, even if they end up marrying . While general when an Igbo lady gives birth out of wedlock the child belongs to her family and if they get married the child belongs to her husband And if they're not married, and the man wants the children as his There are traditional rites he has to fulfill before the kids are his
