Affordable PRS SE Bridge upgrade? Musiclily Ultra PRS Style Tremolo with Brass Block Unboxing

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Testing out an affordable tremolo bridge I purchased from Musiclily through Lazada. This is the Musiclily Ultra 52.5mm Brass Block PRS Style tremolo bridge. Why even replace the stock SE bridge? Well this one is using CNC machined parts with a solid brass block. The stock SE bridge is a good bridge so you don’t really need to replace it, but if you just really want a sharp looking bridge with a brass block you might want to check this out.
My quick review: It’s an excellent upgrade option for PRS SE users. High quality CNC machined saddles, plate and block. Chimey tone and longer sustain. I definitely recommend it as an upgrade to the stock PRS SE bridge.
My first attempt on installation, I kept wondering why sustain was not as long as the stock SE and would go slightly out of tune when lowering tremolo to full and back. My installation was incorrect.
After fixing the bridge screws to the proper height, and adjusted the spring claw, sustain was much longer than stock!
FYI my bridge screws were 2.5mm from top of the screw to the body. Use a digital caliper to measure. Make sure springs are also not overly tensioned. Loosen just enough to float the trem slightly, tune to pitch, then re-tighten claw until bridge is completly flush to the body.

@@davespin9034 hi, I’m more interested in how you modify the block? I had so many ideas, placing a screw in the string holes, deep drilling and making a pseudo Gotoh FST style bridge plate and block holes. I believe the string binding on the bridge plate as it comes out of the block is the root cause and I also believe people have been brainwashed to believe it is the nut, 100% the nut isn’t the main reason. I’m really interested in your mods if you don’t mind sharing.
