What line of our tax return does the government use to calculate the subsidy? I reported (after deductions) approx $30K income (as a retiree) for 2022. It will be similar for 2023. So, what line on our tax return is the appropriate one for us to work off of? Thanks you CB

In New York when I do my taxes to use the adjusted gross income line maybe it's the same for you

Is there a food card as well? Because I was told there was a food card how do I get the food card.

We have not seen any type of ACA plans that offer a food card to my knowledge. Once you get onto Medicare some plans based on where you live offer an Over-the-counter or a debit card to help with food/utilities. Always check with your local state to see if any extra programs are available. Thanks for your comment and Happy New Year!

I wish you were licensed in Hawai'i. My mother just received her permanent residency, and I am shopping for health insurance. Even though she lives in my house, I don't plan to claim her as a dependent in my taxes. Would she qualify for personal insurance as a zero-income earner for ACA even though she lives under my roof? She takes care of my daughters, but she has no W-2 income.

Thanks for your comment and I love Hawaii. As for your mom, typically to qualify for a Marketplace plan your mom would need to generate income. Hawaii may have some other programs for your mom. My recommendation is to call this number for assistance in Hawaii: cca.hawaii.gov/ins/consumers/health/

Definitely not affordable. I do not qualify because of my income. The bronze plans are a joke. Basically, you just pay large amounts of money and have a massive deductible. Out of pocket would be about $20,000 a year. 😂 Question for you. Would it be less expensive if my wife and I get divorced?

Health insurance costs can vary significantly depending on individual circumstances, including income, location, and family size. Divorce solely for the purpose of obtaining lower health insurance premiums is not a recommended. I would recommend-Shop Around: Consider comparing different insurance plans both on and off the ACA marketplace. There may be options that better fit your needs and budget. Happy New Year!

Don't worry every time a republican comes into office they take away things from Obamacare to try to destroy it and therefore the prices go up Biden says he's got in office has been supplying subsidies to try to bring prices down but keep on voting for republicans and get a higher insurance Price
