Affinity Designer Tutorial - Live Filters Warp & Perspective - Mockups
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Hello designers, and welcome to another Affinity Designer 2 tutorial! Today I’ll show you how to use Live Filter Layers - Perspective and Mesh Warp. We'll kick things off with the basics and then ramp it up with a series of mockups. You'll gain a clear understanding of why these tools are useful. Think of them as the dynamic, raster counterpart to the Vector Warp tool.
In this tutorial I use Affinity Designer Version 2.1.
You will learn:
- The basics of the perspective and Mesh warp tool Live Filter layers so you can understand how to use it,
- how to add your design into Smartphone mockups using the perspective tool (good for marketing and Ui)
- how to place and Embed Jpegs, Pngs, PDF
- how to Embed a Multi page document /Multi artboard document
- how to place your design on product packaging
- Blend Modes to make your places images look realistic
- How to warp a bitmap pattern fill or Affinity Style
And of course lots of tips, tricks and shortcuts along the way.
If you want to learn how to create isometric designs like the first smartphone mockup check out my Isometric tutorials playlist:

Awesome as usual. I always pick up tips no matter how basic a job. Just little things I could have done and didn't realise.. Brilliant.!!. I'm just pissed at You Tube as I have had a notification of any of these videos, but I did get notified of 2 shorts in the last couple of days which prompted me to go to your channel and find these.

Cheer Michael, appreciate it. I don't know why KZread is like that. When I posted this video I marked that I wanted my subscribers to get notified. Thanks for letting me know.
Really enjoy your no nonsense method of teaching. Excellent tutorials. Years ago Ii had learned quite a bit about Illustrator, but the interface just made no sense to me. I couldn't get how clunky it was to go between Illustrator and Photoshop. Been using Affinity Photo for a few years now and your tutorials along with Designers interface have completely renewed my interest in creating vector based content. Thanks!

Thank you for this tutorial. I spend almost a whole day figuring out where to find the warp button in the layers panel (like the vector warp has a button there). Affinity could have made this a bit more consistent between the two personas

No problem! I totally agree, it's buried in there. From reading posts from staff on the affinity forum, they weren't 100 percent sure how useful it would be, given as its already in affinity photo. So I think they are testing it and maybe in the future it will be a bit more of a full feature.
You are so helpful thank you for making these excellent tutorials!!

Hi ArtistWright, I would love to see a video about color management. This would include an introduction to the default AD palettes, creating custom palettes, creating chords and triads from a single swatch, etc. If you have already covered these concepts, I apologize. Please tell me what the video is named, and I'll find it!

Hello there and that's for the suggestion! I'll be noting that down. I've not covered it extensively but in a couple of videos I touch upon it slightly. Watch this tutorial where I create a document pallet with colours based on an image. kzread.info/dash/bejne/e2l_zZeknqixlrw.htmlsi=0HWCjD4zmq2SwXeu

I don’t know why affinity doesn’t promote these kinds of use cases more themselves. This shits all over adobe smart objects, far more intuitive and all live on the fly, beats having to save the object and guess whether it fits right. Cheers bud, this is definitely gonna improve my workflow 👌🏾

I've no idea, I know they are getting more active with their tutorials etc maybe they are working up to it. I appreciate the comment 👍 glad my content helps you
nice tutorial - but I think smart objects in photoshop are less complicated. You double click on warped smart object and you have cointainer (psb new file/tab) you edit that, then save and voila! You have different picture in mockup which you can easly acces and modify. Here in affinity you must prepare 100% pdf or jpg first and then you can replace them with the same pdf or jpg. If you want to replace it with publisher file - there is error and perspective is gone. You can't use perspective warp od group, because it rasterize it :/ f you could acces to these layers in group that would be amazing. Do you have any other ideas how to speed it up like it would look in photoshop?

Thanks 👍 honestly I've not used Photoshop in so long I have no idea what it's like anymore. Maybe it is easier, have you tried affinity photo?

You need to switch to pixel persona mode first
Does AD has 3 point perspective grid like Illustrator?
@ArtistWright
7 ай бұрын
Hi there, isometric panel has many options for different grids, you can customise your own grid too ( you'll see the option if you go to 'window')
@orphydiancg7759

@@ArtistWright I watched your 2 years old Isometric grid tutorial. Probably the best out there. I'm impressed this software has so many options for isometric grids but it does seem to have a real 3d perspective grid with vanishing points. Pls take a look at the grid type in Illustrator.! This is a major ommission from the guys at Serif
Can this be done on an ipad too?
@ArtistWright
10 ай бұрын
Yes you can, go to pixel persona and then the add menu from what I've read, I don't have an iPad though
Hoy do you this on iPad? Please
