Maybe I'm crazy.... maybe. But it looks like the coupler used for the throttle body and intake pipe got bigger for the the throttle body. That means, the pipe is skinnier then the throttle body. Meaning it's a bottle neck and restrictive. I am curios the diameter of the original intake pip vs the diameter of this pipe.

Digging the commentary 😁. Does upgrading the intake help with the longevity of the engine? Or is it purely fore sound?

Nice video!! I’m thinking on getting this one for my 2012 Ram 1500. Is the filter pre-oiled? Or can you oil it like the k&n filters? Thanks

    S. Moran it’s a non oiled filter. I ran it for about a year blowing it out every oil change and then eventually replaced it.

Congrats..now you have HOT air intake.. open air intake means loss of HP drawing in hot air under the engine bay. Save your money and keep your stock box and drop in a less restrictive air filter.. $300 for hot air, sound and loss of HP. No thanks

Hey Tanner, Thanks for your opinion. The box is insulated and has a seal that mates to the hood. The only open part lines up directly to the OEM fresh air intake. While it may not be perfect it works and is a good option to save money.

The stock airbox doesn’t really do much in regards to heat dissipation either. Also stock intake box isn’t a direct flow to the engine. Whether it’s hot air or cold air what really makes a difference is the amount of air that is able to be drawn in, not necessarily the temperature. Cold air is denser, which means more power, but dropping a less restrictive filter into your airbox is just as “detrimental” as a SRI/CAI.

@@spartanwk2103 A fully enclosed air box dissipates heat far more than an open element. Other wise engineers would do that. That's why the Hellcat and other high performance mopar vehicles use fully enclosed air boxes.. if you're racing in track mode often for short runs, then go for it. It's your $$$. The gains are minimal for the extra so called air. Like single digits.. knock yourself out. I smoke most vehicles using just the stock air box with modifications and a "custom" 91 octane tune.. cheers
