I don’t care what the aew fan boys say. Dropping from 1.5 million to 500,000 viewers within a couple years is not good. It also shows in the live attendance being half empty majority of the time. I’m not laughing at aew, I want them to succeed but I am laughing at the fan boys who think aew can do no wrong . Everyone needs to be humbled at least once in there life. Sad thing is though, the fan boys will stay in denial until all the wheels fall off.

This show lacks logic so many logic flaws in there stories. Why is will still in the don family? When they barely interact with each other. Why is MJF not going after the devil's mask goons since they took him out. Why is Daniels an intern evp when it's established Tony Khan is at gorilla position anyways to make decisions 😂 talk about killing you're own angle Why is Joe reduced to dealing job guys after losing the world title. Swerve said he buried his former stable mates deep into the group but yet they are still appearing on dynamite 😂 I can't take this show serious

He says that about every AEW "story" while on WWE and TNA they are spending months and multiple PPVs on single stories so people are actually invested and watch. Like seriously, the TNA audience isn't going down, it's going up. And a lot of the new talent is from AEW. So clearly it's not like people couldn't watch AEW to see them, they just didn't cause they did nothing on the show but wrestle! WWE is going the same direct, Cody and CM Punk just did an angle with the bloodline that's been building from multiple angles for months! This isn't hard, wrestling has had storylines for decades! Not sure why they are so hard to produce in AEW!

Not gonna lie, this is the real issue. AEW does not need to be anywhere near WWE numbers to be successful because WBD does not care about Comcast/Netflix numbers. They ultimately don't affect WBD, BUT if Big Bang Theory re-runs out rate Dynamite, then AEW is in trouble because why pay for something when what you own makes you more money.

This show is not interesting. Having "good matches" is not what made wrestling interesting or big. Its the soap opera of it. Thsts the base ingredient which is why wwe has been selling out arenas. Not because of the wrestling but because of the good stories/ character development, and promos. Having a random japan wrestler facing off against a member of your roster for no good reason is not interesting only to a small very small small audience

Tony chose Jack Perry and the Bucks over CM Punk. A lot of AEW fans gave up because Punk was fired. They have been dropping off since then. Tony thought that Will Ospreay would turn things around and bring back the fans that were lost. Unfortunately that hasn't happened. Ospreay is extremely talented but he isn't a needle mover. Ticket sales are terrible and the TV ratings are getting worse. Osprey is exciting but Will isn't Punk. I'm sure that I'm going to be attacked for saying that but it's the truth. Tony made his choice and it's going to take a long time for AEW to recover.

I would've given up if Perry was fired and not Punk. Not because I'm a Perry fan, or (just because) I'm a Punk hater. 1: Punk's second brawl, Perry's first. 2: Punk started the physicality then yelled something (that admittedly, we don't know what) at the man in charge after trying to choke someone out. 3: Punk was taking digs at the company while working there and didn't even seem to want to be there, especially after the first fight happened. 4: If you're supposed to be the "main star" that means you're supposed to be a role model backstage. What role model goes around choking people when they do something they're told by you, doctors, and T.K. to not do? Before you say anything, I'm not defending Perry. He definitely instigated things with the "Real glass, cry me a river" thing and should've never done that, and maybe he could've even fooled T.K./Punk if he never said anything into thinking it was the sugarglass or whatever alternative they use, and T.K. needs to be a man and tell Perry "Hey, you go out there and use real glass, you WILL be suspended and maybe even fired" himself instead of relying on Punk to. But Punk deserved to be fired. And this whole time, I'm even putting aside my personal dislike for him. I think he's overrated in the ring, has anger problems, and injury issues. But even if this was my all-time favorite Adam Copeland/Edge doing this in either company and check off the 4 main reasons I said I'd fire Punk, yeah, I'd be saying fire Adam/Edge

There is literally fuck all on AEW that's getting people to tune in. This isn't 2021 when Dynamite was the number one wrestling show in the world. Vince leaving WWE was ultimately the worst thing to happen to AEW. Tony needs to stop listening to Dave Meltzer and stop catering to internet marks and stop worrying about whatever HHH and WWE are doing. He needs to focus on his show. He needs to hire someone to run the day to day In creative and oversee the booking. Having 5 star matches doesn't mean shit when no one is watching your show. These are disastrous numbers especially considering AEW's deal with WBD expires next month.

I'll watch some AEW PPVs (in a completely legal way of course) because the matches are usually pretty good, but every time I try to watch one of the weekly shows it just doesn't do anything for me. I really wish AEW was doing better because competition is good for pro wrestling. It keeps everyone on their toes so they don't start taking their audience for granted.

Q1: Wardlow / MJF confrontation, setup for a later PPV. Q2: Big Bill vs. Roderick Strong, Strong wins, Bill goes apeshit, hits Strong with a chair. Q3: Jay Lethal beats Hook to the elation of the Callis family. Samoa Joe puts Lethal in the clutch, Hook backs off, a bit freaked out. Q4: Kenny Omega TV show with Chris Jericho. Kylie Rae kills Jericho with a firearm. Q5: Miro vs. The Butcher, The Butcher goes over. Q6: Orange Cassidy comes out, Injury Guevara hits him with a golf cart. Q7-END: Claudio Castagnoli vs. Jon Moxley no DQ Overrun: Young Bucks are strangled by Chuck Norris Written by some random douchebag on the net, still better than 502,000.

Couple legit things look nice honestly: Too soon/too late for the Wardlow/MJF feud. It's like Rock/Roman at Mania 40, just not the right time. Strong beating Bill could set up a Learning Tree/U.K thing leading to Roddy going over on Jericho and a Big Bill/Wardlow match Lethal beating Hook is a horrible booking decision. Kenny Omega can definitely have a TV show while out injured. Have you seen him host things? Butcher going over would be cool, but I'd rather him and Blade go over together Sami getting revenge with the golf cart on someone would be funnier. Make it him using it twice to him getting hit twice. Ok, that No DQ match would be a bloodbath and I'm actually for it

That's actually a solid card. Even gets Kenny on TV and gets Jericho off this planet. But seriously, CM Punk and Kenny Omega have not been cleared for basically the same amount of time. Yet Kenny has been on TV twice and CM Punk has been a part of a whole dynamic feud! People want to see both guys, but one company is trying to make money and get good ratings and the other is just there to keep some 40 year old kid out of the football stadium.

This shows that amazing in ring wrestling is not enough if there’s not good story telling. AEW needs writers for storylines (not promos).

As time goes by the idea of ​​a documentary called "Who Killed AEW?" becomes more and more possible.

Stories, storytelling, and characters are what get wrestling fans invested, and what draws. You can put on dream matches and 5 star classics, but without a good story, people won’t care. Look at the Bloodline and Punk vs McIntyre. Those ooze storytelling and characters. TK needs to recognize that, and if he can’t, give the creative reigns to someone who does. But, something’s gotta change, big time.

I think AEW messed up on the MJF storyline with Adam Cole. All this time goes by after MJF gets screwed, to have him come back and kick Cole in the balls and end that whole fued like none of the guys who helped AC be the devil, ever happened. I think they could have done something bigger and better with that. Made absolutely no sense. Also AEW takes all the B rated guys in the business and expects them draw money and crowds. None of these guys/gals who come from WWE were ever even like the best guys in the company at wwe nor wil they be the biggest draws in AEW.

No Big Bang Ratings Gang to make the save for Always Excuses Weekly this week.

I think smaller venues will help them and here is why How beloved was ECW and still is to this day? What about Lucha Underground? What about 2013-2019 nXT? If anything they should kill their third tier show, make the 2nd tier one in a small venue for rising new talent, and only do the big venue stuff for their dynamite program and use a more focused story based roster for the Dynamite program. They could even better their chances at keeping a tv deal alive and well, if ratings continue this course, if they have to negotiate with tnt/tbs. “Hey, we will go down to two shows, and one of them can be a one hour studio show, but dynamite can keep its normal schedule. This would free up 1-2 hours of more tv estate for other programs, but still gives us 2 out of 3 shows in which to showcase our talent”. It is a wise business move in case tnt/tbs see the ratings as a loss and of no benefit when they could put in shows that get more eyes and get the networks more profit.

Even TNA are better than AEW now

The Acclaimed beating the Young Bucks in the Tag title Eliminator match means that most likely, Matthew and Nick will beat the Acclaimed in the Actual Championship match. I would be surprised if Max and Bowens actually won the titles when the match happens. But, I don't see it happening.

So I am someone who has always appreciated the more indie style of wrestling. The smaller venues, the more intimate nature of such a setting, and often the fact that you get to know the talent personally. It's why PWG and early Ring of Honor will always have a place in my heart. I also don't mind the slightly scaled up version of this where it's in bigger venues, but still not like... Massive shows. Companies such as TNA, MLW, and others. The problem I have is I think it'd be really, REALLY cool if AEW embraced that, instead of trying so damn hard to be a competitor to the WWE.

The show is crap. There’s nothin remotely interesting. When all you do is try to setup “dream matches” and there’s no week to week progression on your television, people know they can just watch the ppv and skip this garbage.

@@Thecultofwrestling Numbers and quality don't always go hand in hand, why do you think there are bad TV shows that last many seasons but very good shows are canceled just after a season or two at most? I mean, it's not that it was the best episode of Dynamite in the entire history of AEW either but there have been worse and with better ratings.

I'm a WWE fan, but I gotta say that this is sad and in the long term will be bad for the industry. I really hope they can find their footing again.

It's so funny to me that AEW fans will defend AEW and TK to death but will not tune in or show up to the show. Please watch the fucking show you're defending ffs.

​@@muryt12 What are you on about? I actually want it to succeed. It's better to have competition in the field. Better for the talents, and better for the fans. I don't like AEW the company due to many reasons but I like many of the AEW talents so I still watch whenever those talents are on. That's more than many of their "fans" would do.

This comes from an AEW fan from inception, but I think it's safe to say the honeymoon is over. While I agree that on paper this sounded like a solid show, it goes to show one of AEW's achilles heels; finding the way to hook an audience. I mean, this rating as well as poor live event attendance is all the damning evidence you need to look at. As one commenter said, they need to stop booking these half (or less) sold, huge arenas and focus on going to smaller arenas to try and bring in the lapsed and/or casual wrestling fans. There are arenas and convention centers in smaller towns across the United States that will sell much faster if they were to bring smaller, scaled back versions of Dynamite or Collision to these smaller towns. I get the expensive, fancy set looks all nice in a huge arena, but it's gotta come to a point where you realize that you're not hitting the sales numbers that should be hitting for the size of the venue. There also needs to be more promotion of the show across social media AND the Turner networks...hell, even find a way to buy ad time on other networks or big event shows. The name of the game is finding ways to get all the eyes on the product. Announce matches well in advance, hype them up and give people a reason to tune in....not this half-assed announcing matches during the show. I seriously hope Tony and the Bucks are the only ones booking the show, because there needs to be more on that booking team than that. Also, while there's a foundation being built for telling stories, there needs to be more reason to make the audience care in other instances. As great as he is, I honestly haven't been given much of a reason to care about MJF's return beyond that it's his return. The feud we WANT is delayed because Cole is still out with an injury, if he ever manages to come back from this. Randomly pairing him up with RUSH was a puzzling decision, and now he just gets thrown into a random match with Hechicero at Forbidden Door. Where's the build? Why should I even care about this match? These are just a few of the things that are hurting AEW more than helping right now, but if things don't change...we're gonna see a TNA/Spike situation happen to AEW where they eventually move to a network that few people have access to or strictly becoming a streaming platform wrestling company. I honestly hope something changes, and fast.

I can sum it up in much shorter fashion: the names of the wrestlers suck. What catches your attention about a movie? It's usually the name. What catches you attention about a book? It's the name. 1980s Wrestling Names: The Road Warriors, King Kong Bundy, Hulk Hogan, The Ultimate Warrior, Demolition, The Bolsheviks, 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper, Jake 'The Snake' Roberts, 'Ravishing' Rick Rude, 'The Model' Rick Martel, and so on. The names were short, yet descriptive and catchy, and each name matched the character. Absolutely Embarrassing Wrestling Names: Big Bill, Swerve Strickland, Cash Wheeler, Danhausen, Wheeler Yuta, Vincent, Miro, Hook, Pac, Rush--see my point? Tell somebody in the '80s that you were going to see Hulk Hogan vs 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper, it sounded interesting. Wheeler Yuta versus Hook? Big Bill versus Miro? Get the fuck out of town. Don't underestimate the power of a good name. Sylvester Stallone knew it when he wrote ROCKY: kzread.info/dash/bejne/dqiC09KwlpXRg7w.html Jump to 4:04 for the part where Apollo Creed (a catchy name in itself) picks 'The Italian Stallion' Rocky Balboa based solely on his name. Apollo imagines both his name and Rocky's nickname on a marquee, then says how it sounds like a monster movie. *That* is the way that a promoter needs to think. Names are important. Somehow, a lot of promoters in wrestling don't understand the concept.

As long as AEW rates better than anything else TBS airs, it’ll be fine. Maybe not worth as much but still worth something.

Not making much excuses for TK because I get frustrated at some things he does as well. But I read that he does NFL and Fulham duties while he's at the arena. He definitely needs less on his plate
