AEW Has A Chris Jericho Problem

Спорт

Chris Jericho is destroying his legacy with his current AEW run and desperately needs some time off. Just this past weekend on the Dynasty PPV, Jericho wrestled and for some reason beat Hook and during this match received “retire” and “go home” chants, the AEW fans completely reject him. But how did it get this way? Jericho was having a great run when he first got to AEW, but controversies outside the ring and his problems with his on-screen character lead to all of this and today I’m going to explain the 3 feuds since im Top3Wrestling, that Chris Jericho had in AEW that I think caused this shift in reaction. LIke the video and lets talk about it, lets talk about AEW’s Chris Jericho problem.

Apparently Vince knew the right ideas with Russo and shot down the really stupid ones (Minus the Brawl For All) and I think the same could be said about Jericho. A lot of what he did in WWE was great, but in AEW he's pretty much allowed to do whatever he wants and it kinda shows he's not as smart or great as he thinks he is.

Jericho fell off the rails once he dropped the title to Moxley. I completely disavowed him after the MJF musical number. Before that, I got turned off by the OC feud and Stadium Stampedes. The problem is he has terrible ideas, an over-inflated ego that makes him think his ideas are the best, nobody to put a leash on them and tell him No! and he gets enabled by Memeltzer and the AEW stans. At least in WWE, he was helping effective talent and WWE's production value could make his hokey ideas look professional (eg. Owens and the Festival of Friendship)

The problem with Jericho is that there's always Jericho on Dynamite, he doesn't skip a beat and his storylines are same-ish. In WWE he used to take time off to tour with Fozzy, lol, then he returned with a new gimmick and that freshened his runs; in AEW instead he just jumps from one gimmick to the other without a discernible reason (other than "Jericho feels like it"). The allegations don't help (but that's Tony's fault that didn't put an end to them).

"Jericho will always have value in AEW..." Presented as if this was an objective, self-evident truth, with nothing to back it up. Value as what exactly - and how? As a wrestler? He's only going to get worse. 53-year-old pro wrestlers don't get better or regain lost abilities anymore. And definitely not ones with Jericho's... um... "recreational habits". The dropoff in quality from 2023 to now alone should tell you everything you need to know, to predict where his in-ring will be in one or two years. In creative or behind the scenes? I think we've seen more than enough of his "booking genius" and shitty braindead '90s comedy garbage, as well as his scheming, politicking, perving, and backstabbing within the company. Hey, make Le Sex Pest the talent relations guy, instead of the completely incompetent Bucksucker Daniels. Let's see how long he can control himself until his inner Vinnie Lupton comes out... As a non-wrestling on-screen character, like a general manager or something? They already have a non-wrestler in Callis, who dragged an entire faction to the bottom of the jobber sea, by making everything they do about himself. Jericho would make entire shows about himself and nothing else - and probably take "Dynamite" to sub-450k viewers with his asinine horseshit. There's a reason why WWE only used him intermittently for his last years there. Half a decade straight - with very few breaks - of Jericho is unbearable. He's like that guy you meet at a party, who only knows five basic old jokes from back in school, that he mixes up and varies over and over. Okay, why not - variations on a few classics for an evening, beats going to a funeral. Then you find out he was hired by the company you work for and you have to be around him five days a week...

It was briefly mentioned but the issue of them never finding a way to keep him and Sammy apart and him constantly doing factions is also a major reason. Look at the Callis feud, Sammy turns on Jericho, got suspended iirc and then comes back and is back on Jerichos side again. Hook should for sure leave cause they clearly don't value him having him lose to Jericho for that title, they really need to wrap feuds up better in general

Jericho being around isn’t the worst thing in the world if they used him right. I feel like it’s a mix of a bunch of thing especially Khan being a huge mark and Jericho starting to get into his own head and listening to his ego a lot more. Jericho is great at doing slight changes to make everything fresh but his new gimmicks of sorts have all been just lateral movements rather than his slight upgrades like “List of Jericho”, his slow talking, Codebreaker and savior. Him having a faction isn’t bad like Inner Circle which turned into JAS I think are good factions but there’s a lot of rehashing I mean JAS is just a slightly different Inner Circle. It’s really only a recent thing where we have been seeing him try and attach himself to a younger talent in order to maintain relevancy in the vain of brining up younger talent when it doesn’t nothing but just hurt Jericho. Now with this Learning Tree gimmick/faction, it’s really dumb why would you want to lean into the things people hate about you unless he’s doing it on purpose to be a heel the way Cody was being a heel by not turning heel. Should have just let Big Bill do his own thing or maybe even stay a team with Ricky Starks since they were actually pretty good together. Him trying to bring HOOK in when HOOK himself has been stuck doing the same thing ever since he debut wasn’t the best thing to do. Look at things the feuds would have been better if they ended sooner, like if HOOK just beat him and left it at that it would be ok. Honestly should have just let HOOK stay FTW champion if he is going to leave or not. Its a title created by his father and its should be doing the same it did for Taz, be a championship to elevate HOOK since he isnt getting shots at other titles instead having loss and regain the title is pointless while its an unsanctioned title

Vince forsaw the things happening with him so he sent his best agent Jericho to help and make the potential competition so when he went under,he unstructed jericho to bring down the competition which by that point was the only real one, thus insuring that WWE stays protected even when he is gone. I mean Vince wasnt eve mad at Jericho leaving, hell he let him go. Think of it like Dumbbledore(Vince) and Snape(Jericho). He was sent to the enemy to protect WWE(Harry).

Jericho's GOATED, and I'm excited for the Learning Tree character. I also don't think this is a Jericho problem. This is a TK booking problem, as most things are with this. I wholeheartedly support the first two on this list happening, but I think they just lasted too long. You COULD'VE worked Eddie back into the BCC/JAS story after Eddie did something else, or at least had Eddie win their final match. And i actually find the Kenny/Jericho pairing to challenge Don's family to be a great touch.

I wouldn't entirely say it was a TK booking problem either, the Golden Jets was promising and I was hyped but Kenny's injury ended things prematurely, you can't blame TK, Kenny or anyone for that, it was just one of those things, it's a shame though, Golden Jets could have been an amazing run and I do think that given their many feuds in the past, the two have a lot of chemistry with each other and with them both being celebrated legends in the business, it's a no-brainer. I hope if Kenny does return to the ring some day, they bring it back.

Sometimes I wonder if this is all on Jericho, or if Khan has any incriminating stuff against him to keep sending him out to these shows. I mentioned in another video that this was the exact same thing that happened with TNA after they signed Kurt Angle. Once the initial "wow" factor wears off, that's when someone risks being overexposed to their own detriment. I get it, signing Jericho was a major "F U WWE, we got him" moment for AEW, but since then, AEW had poached a lot of talent off WWE just to flip the E the middle finger, so that makes Jericho less special when it comes to Khan's favorite hobby. Plus, Jericho is seriously out of shape, and again, I get it, age does that to a person, but his character work (ironically his best trait in WWE) has not improved in recent years. This is where logic baffles me, since Khan has so many talents signed onto payroll, so there should not be a reason to rotate Jericho out in order to let him refresh his character and give someone else the time in the limelight. My guess: it's like that guy who keeps cracking the same joke over and over and over again, to the point where it's not even funny any more; Khan is doing essentially that, flipping WWE the same middle finger over and over again to the point where nobody cares, or some are even annoyed by it now.
