The Pre-show started off good with the three way tag team match, but the librarian match was below average and I know Leva Bates can do better without trying to get that lame gimmick over. The CEO-Nakazawa match was a comedic dumpster fire. High lights were Cody putting over Darby Allin though I never want Cody or any other talent ever taking unprotected head shots ever again. Props to Cody for not only taking the chair shot to get Shawn Spears into a story line match at All In, but also being in the mid card and doing what's best for business and giving other talent the "rub". The six man tag was awesome as expected and Joey vs Moxley was sick and reminded me of the Funk vs Cactus Jack wars of ECW. Over all the pre-show was 3/10, the actual show was 8/10.

I was at this event. I saw 2 empty seats in our section, and couldn't spot any in the arena from where I was. Maybe a few that got lost in the crowd, but no patchy sections or holes in the crowd. They had the upper deck behind the hard cameras roped off so that may be what some people mistook for empty seating. To my understanding they had to open up additional seating areas in various sections due to walkups. The crowd was almost completely 20-40 year olds so the idea that they are attempting to cater to the disposed attitude era fans seems accurate to me. Regarding the show itself, I was extremely surprised they put as much into it as they did. I was expecting a house show with minimal setup but we were treated to a full PPV experience with some big AEW names. Edit: I also wanted to add that they held this at a large convention center and the line for entry wrapped around the building twice. At one point we actually had to merge 3 lines into one when they opened the doors to the arena. The show was very well received by the live crowd and most of the comedy spots got a lot of laughter even if it wasn't picked up on the mics. There were some underwhelming moments (the Librarian gimmick, the Super Smash Bros segments, some of the lights out moments that went on a bit too long) but all of this is also things they can work on and smooth out before TV in October. I view the majority of these shows, even the big ones like All Out as a prelude to the TV product and because of that, the criticisms I do have I don't really hold in too high a regard because I know a lot of that will be fixed by TV. Also, its a wrestling promotion and they will and should try to give an honest effort with the ideas their guys come up with. Not everything is going to be a home run and I think realistic fans understand that. Sure, once the hype dies down there won't be as much insanity around them, but I certainly think they will have smooth sailing and will accomplish their goal of providing an alternative national product to the fans who have fallen out in the last 5-15 years.

Here’s my thoughts on the show. It was really good. Derby Allin will be a world champion in a few years. Kenny Omega looks to be going into a feud with Pentagon going into TNT. Cody vs Shawn looks to be a fantastic feud and a match for All Out. I feel like Dustin could face MJF because he sees MJF using he’s brother to get ahead in AEW and he losers there and he questions if he can win matches (because he would have also lost at Fight For The Fallen). That’s what I would do. Head shots to the head is something I’m not for but if they make it safe where no one is injured but it still looks brutal then I think it’s fine.

Some background on the Japanese wrestlers. Riho is a big star in Japan. Riho I believe is 22 years old. She has been wrestling since she was 9 years old, so she is very talented and has a long future ahead of her. I think both of the Joshi girls are on a 4 match agreement to work in AEW to see if they want to branch out and wrestle in AEW or stay in Japan. Yuka is 23 and has a magic FF cosplay gimmick and also is very young. So these matches were set up by Kenny Omega ( my speculation) to let these girls feel out their experience in America and see if they want to make a longer commitment to work in AEW. I believe since these girls will perform better if they weren't splitting time with different promotions and traveling between Japan and USA if they stayed long term in AEW and America tends to have larger and wider size rings and that may take them some time to get used to.

The people who want companies to fail for no reason are not fans of Professional Wrestling. I've been a Fan of WWE since 2001 & only watched WWE for the most part, but they almost killed my love for Pro Wrestling since I was too stubborn to watch other companies. AEW seems like it's going to be a good company w/the Minds they have, but I'm not a fan of Nakazawa & The Librarian. If it wasn't for AEW, Paul Heyman & Eric Bischoff wouldn't be being put in the positions that they are & WWE would still try to coast by when they could be making more money if the Company was better. Even if this is just smoke & mirrors when it comes to WWE, at least we have AEW.

JD, love the show. I agree that Fyte for the Fallen was their version of a first 'Monday Night Raw' and Fight for the Fallen is also scheduled for B/R live streaming. This however creates a problem for AEW. How good are the matches going to need to be after they charged $800 per ticket for ringside, between $160 and $380 per ticket for the middle seats, and $70 to stand for two hours? Jacksonville is an OLD SCHOOL NWA fanbase and we expect good wrestling for the money we pay (which is why WWE never succeeds in the city). We don't have CEO major white collar jobs that could afford those prices for an event. I understand it is a fund raiser. But anything more than $120/ticket ringside and $40-$60/ticket in the middle rows, and $20/ticket in the nose bleed won't be attended by most in the city. We just can't afford it. When it is a call between rent or feed the family vs taking the kids to a show..rent/food is 'usually' going to win.

MJF is one of the best heels in the world... he also mentioned something like “if I want to hear from you, I would turn on my tv and watch re runs of my 600LB life on TLC”...... 😂😂😂😂

I thought the show was good. got to display your talent and give viewers a glimpse of what they will see at all out and in October. I agree with you on MJF. totally love this guy. he better be champ at some point. for as young as he is and his character to be so solid is amazing. exactly what you want in a top heel. keep up the great work JD!

I paid $10 USD as I live in Australia and it was money well spent, great show again. Only match I didn't care for was Main Event of Pre Show and the womens match on pre show was a little sloppy but was great to see Allie in action. Triple threat tag was awesome and made stars out of JD's boys Private Party. As for main card there was not a bad match. Easily as good as any WWE PPV

I view this as a tv show dress rehearsal/ practice show. They're are fine tuning how they want to present the weekly product.

Fyter Fest was yet another phenomenal show by the folks over AEW; a smart move to align themselves with CEO Gaming for this co-branded event to attract new fans to the product, and was a great opportunity to give more talent the platform to perform and position them within the roster before the championships arrive/weekly television deal. Darby Allin was a significant standout performer amongst the show, Joey Janela certainly gained some new fans from his work in the main event, and Maxwell Jacob Friedman is as good at cutting a promo as the lofty heights set by Paul Heyman. Great stuff overall :)

Get used to more Michael Nakazawa because if there are wrestlers that Kenny omega loves it's his buddies from DDT pro wrestling I liked the match gotta remember AEW wants to be a place for all flavors of wrestling that includes comedy matches

i didn't mind the the nakazawa/jebailey match. mainly due to the fact that i'm a member and follower of the FGC (fighting game community). jebailey is a well known figure in the FGC and his character as well. (a arrogant show runner who thinks very highly of himself). that match was solely to appeal to the FGC members that made up most of the audience. hell, justin wong and yipes were front row. (those guys are both multi-time world champions). it wasn't the best but i didn't expect it to be. it was fan service for the FGC.

the one thing we do know and I know this for a fact that even with that seven figures deal that she may have gotten but yet not signed is that it does not cover her health insurance or even employee status or any type of time off or anything else so that makes me wonder if she's really going to actually sign and accept the deal

I really enjoyed this show, it was my first AEW event and I'll be watching it when it comes to TV in the fall. AEW is like that one class in school you always enjoyed cuz of awesome teacher that everyone likes and subject matter that piques your interest meanwhile WWE is the teacher that everyone hates cuz Vince doesnt know what he's doing and is always confused and the subject matter is fucking boring and you dont care for. That women's match was one of the best matches I've seen in a while. I loved every second of it.
