Bottom Line: All the fans truly wanted was an AEW skinned No Mercy. That's not what they gave us and that's why it failed.

Back to the roots. I don’t care about professional wrestling or boxing, but these videos are so enthusiastic and make the sports sound so amazing that I love them regardless.

This channel has taught me more about wrestling than I ever wanted to know

I remember there being rumors about how the developers were frustrated with Omega because he would come up with superfluous crap that don't relate to anything and delay the schedule. I think those minigames are there because of him.

Only 7 match types to cycle through made me stay away from the game. Back on the ps2 there used to be tons of match types. Makes no excuse why there’s only 7 here on better hardware

2013 is when you started watching wrestling that’s crazy

AEW Fight Forever. As wide as an ocean but as deep as a puddle.

What's baffling to me about CAW mode is that they throw in random little nods and trinkets referencing specific wrestlers you COULD make but have absolutely no way to. They have Jushin Liger's horns but no way to make him. They have the druids and taunts for Undertaker but no way to make him. They have the fucking Big Dipper scars Kenshiro has in Fist of the North Star but good luck making a decent version of him. Honestly i think that's way worse than it simply being barebones. It's fucking embarrassing seeing Kenny Omega brag about AEW Fight Forever being a No Mercy successor when No Mercy actually had more options. You have a whopping 100 creations slots and each wrestler can have 5 outfits How the fuck is that even possible when the creation mode is so limited? It's embarrassing.

Gameplay wise it is No Mercy and this is the problem. The year in 2023 and I can't kick out after a finisher, I can't reverse a finisher and the story mode is just career mode from WWE 2K15....

No mercy was only 64Mb in size too. It shows how badly optimised and missing content there is in a $60 game (more for the season pack) It has more in common with old WWF games in teh 80s than it does No mercy.

Strangely enough, I feel this video undersells the sheer disappointment of Fight Forever. The minigames are truly awful. RTE is meh even the first time, yet you are expected to keep playing it over and over to unlock stuff and for every single CAW you make. The $12 DLC packs only give you two additional wrestlers, because you are also paying for two more minigames. Sending a CAW through RTE for a second time resets all their previously earned stats, so you have to build them "right" in one go or start over from scratch. Matches often feel too short unless you simply refuse to pin your opponent, and there is no way to adjust this. Post-release support so far has been laughably bad with way too much silence, and the most recent patch may have broken nearly as much stuff as it fixed. Considering all the focus that was spent on the minigames and now Stadium Stampede, you start to question whether they even wanted to make a serious wrestling game at all, or just a hub for a wrestling-themed party game.

I'm hoping for the sequel they seriously take their time with it and flesh it out. I'm talking - Longer entrances - Better create a wrestler settings - Better online - Better voice lines (bring Tazz, Tony Schiavone, Excalibur and let them show EMOTIONS) - Active Roster members - Expand Road to Elite to be more replayable and feel less of a chore

WWE 2K is miles ahead of AEW’s own video game. Stadium Stampede feels like wrestling’s version of Fortnite. Not in a good way and I have heard the same complaints for this game you’re not alone.

Who’s stupid idea was it to put unlimited signatures. Then once you get your opponent in the danger you can easily pin them because the kick out system is outdated. You don’t know if you even have a chance to kick out or not. This completely breaks the game

Both 2K and AEW clearly aren't trying to go in that direction though. And 2k23 has a whole mode that just doesn't work right. Better than 22 but, eh

Thanks for talking about the lackluster create-a-wrestler, cuz that's the whole reason I passed on it. Apparently they made it very meh on purpose, lest there be a strong custom scene like the WWE games have and thus have fans include guys from their rival's roster. Pretty petty, but frankly, "petty" seems to be part of the AEW brand after this past month. Also, apparently there's a bug where some of the special character unlocks don't work even if you meet the conditions. Don't know if it's been fixed yet. As someone who just wanted to make my OC & have her tag team with Owen Hart to pummel my least favorite AEW stars, I am disappointed.

Is that the actual reason? Because that's pretty A: petty, like you said, and B: weird, considering you can literally name your CAW several names from WWE (Becky Lynch, and others) and they have moves of several WWE ppl from John Cena to Shinsuke Nakamura.

There is nothing wrong with maining Chuck Taylor, until you start scaring small children like he used to. Still nothing wrong at that point because the little brats probably did something to deserve it, just saying.
