Bro came out of nowhere and dropped probably the best video about Aether Gazer lore. Hope you return with more AG lore recaps, as a lot has happened in-game since your last upload and the story goes harder than ever. I usually read the story but I've forgotten a lot of it, I'd really appreciate experiencing them again through your recaps as they're easily digestible and I don't always have time to reread everything in-game.

Sorry for my my super slow presence on here, I've had to juggle a few unexpected things this month (work + family obligations + sudden family emergency + travel) that unfortunately occured in sequence after I posted. a great game just to be clear..the Admin wasn't a normal human at the 1st place he could survive a hit was meant to k!ll a mod(verthandi) before losing his memories

This is exactly what everybody who plays aether gazer needs to watch if they don't understand the story cuz I feel like it's not straightforward whatsoever and this just explains it so well. They should sponsor you and include your video as a nice little tutorial in the game!

really good video and super accurate, even about the meaning of Shifting Flowers/Shifted Stars! One minor typo is Asura's Sephirah Zone is Shashvat, mentioned in one of her dossier files.

Between the main story and dealing with the events to not miss out on stars I was starting to get confused lol. I also didn’t get a good grasp of the basics of the world. Great video! The admin's role is more meaningful now. One point about Gaea's resetting: It has happened multiple times, and I think we are on the 5th reset (This can be found in gaea's notes during Marduk's event). This has been featured in the summer event as well, where Levi's new weapon counterside is an anomalous relic from the previous era (previous reset), hence the entire region disappeared after they left.

Funnily enough, this is one of those headscratchers that really got me 😅 I chose to be cautious with my word choice just in case (so I eventually settled on "it's unclear" rather than "it's never happened"), but my eventual conclusion was that those reboots probably shouldn't be counted as part of the real thing. The notes read to me as failed attempts to develop Gaea -- the developers rebooted the system while they were testing different parameters (on what the notes describe as an increasing number of "volunteers"), so it's not actually Gaea itself performing reboots after the final, self-governing version of Gaea was successfully launched and opened to mankind, but something like a dev-controlled closed beta. What's also worth noting is that the Deviation Rate didn't even exist until the 4th iteration, so for those previous resets, Gaea couldn't have used it as a metric to reboot itself. This was all the development team's doing. The 5th version appears to be the version that "worked" best, which the developers finally settled on, opened up to the world and (for those who survived Earth's radiation) entered themselves, and the version we have "now". I also suspected that Countertide Whalesong is from before a reboot but (minor spoiler warning, feel free to ignore the rest of my rambling) a CN player I mentioned my thoughts to says it isn't 🥲I didn't ask more because I don't want to spoil myself, so that one's still up in the air. Whatever the truth is, I really like the idea of Leviathan surviving a reboot, which would explain why her past doesn't line up with Skadi's version of events and why the Countertide Whalesong would pick her given it also appears to be an anomaly. Before I spoke to that CN player, my thought was that it might even have had some connection to her in another timeline. But ah well, I guess we'll see 😄

MAAAAN I love this SO MUCH???? As a new player starting out I quickly realized that besides the amazing gameplay/combat and beautiful graphics there is an interesting story but the "small talk" portions of the dialogue sometimes are a bit too much so a video like this and so well made is very VERY appreciated, thank you for your hard work, keep doing you. One thing that still confuses me about the story is that if the original Earth is overtaken by nanobots how comes the nanobots didn't disrupt the humans from loading their consiousness into gaia and how comes the nanobots haven't destroyed the Gaia technology already since they could probably load or connect themselves with the Gaia technology?

Thank you! Those questions haven't been explored by the game yet sadly. I think it's possible that the nanobots (at least initially, and possibly still) don't know about Gaea. They had to spread across the entire world (which would take a while), so the humans most likely hurried to finish Gaea, upload whoever they could and launch it into space before the nanobots got to them. That's also in line with Gaea Zero itself rushing and basing Gaea on Earth in 2100 instead of taking the time to make a better world (although at one point in the game, Shu states that trying to create a paradise would likely also have come with its own computational problems). As for why the nanobots don't just destroy Gaea, I see two likely possibilities: (1) they don't know humans are hiding in Gaea, and either they don't care to investigate whatever remnant human satellites are floating up in space or Gaea can mask itself from scans, or (2) they know about humans and they ARE trying to destroy Gaea -- maybe the Visbanes were actually planted by the nanobots to eradicate the remnants of humanity. There are plenty of other reasons but those feel like the most likely to me. I guess we'll have to see as the story unfolds 😂

ohh I really love lore content about gachas. Need more because I prefer spending time playing than reading. Playing more than one gacha with good stories really make me pick which story I will read but knowing all of them have good stories is sad

This was the Video I was lookin for.. good thing It popped up o throu someone elses community feed! Very, very well done thank you for the Video.. The lore is very interesting.. I had an Idea what was happening but wasnt exactly sure on the details... looking forward for more. Also, I am not the brightest bulb.. so.. "Earth" is empty and "Humans" only exist inside "Gaea".. Modifiers are not "original Human conciousness" but they originate from data.. the actual "Humans" are roaming around this new digital world and the characters we play as are this defensive mechanism taken form? Are they consideret self aware or do they just follow orders?

I love the way they justified using mythological figures with the gen zones. It is speculated that the next gen zone or zones will be Heaven and Hell, from Ladon's cryptic tale to the more obvious texts from getting enough achievements talking about demons and gates of paradise and such. Plus just imagine the mods we could get

To be fair, the first chapter is mediocre and doesn't do a good job explaining the setting (which is why I've seen a lot of people thinking it's a SAO ripoff 😓). Maybe it would be better if Ver's heart link was the actual 1st chapter. At any rate, I really appreciate your video, and I hope you can cover more of Aether Gazer's lore. 👍

Unfortunately, I'm not too sure yet. In Oceanus' Heart Link story it mentions that he's able to change his appearance using his abilities and so he just keeps pretending to be a new person. Aether Gazer has a relationship with the CORG Supreme Directorate (an important group I left out of the lore video after some deliberation, which I'll defo cover soon) who have the ability to modify or erase memories, so I wouldn't be surprised if the CORG helps them out by simply changing/wiping all of their past information when they need ask to. It would be like the government issuing you a new identity. I also wouldn't be surprised if Aether Gazer can do it themselves... they've got the Dream system that lets them enter dreams. There just (as far as I can remember) hasn't been an instance where they've directly changed someone's memories

Sorry for taking forever to reply, I've been on a bit of hiatus!! Q_Q The game definitely uses the term "Earth" (capitalised) which implies it's our world, but since it never actually mentions any known country by name it really could be a different Earth. It feels to me like they'd deliberately left it vague. So... I'd say it's really up to your interpretation 😄
