It's massive, see? the things that simple samplings and words can bring when the verbs and the meanings line up just right and I've seen it, I've dream it, hopefully one day some new great wordsworth can come in harder, leave a mark or two and you or I can be it penny pluck from my purse to respect your verse tossed in the negative space of the rim of you turned up hat and we share a laugh
Seems like someone made Aesop bleed his own blood; dude seems to be more awake, than ever.
A great family tribute that transcends music genres and generation gaps. Many of us have deep love for Aes. This track solidifies the reason. Much love.
This really feels like how siblings grow up, they disconnect and get on with their lives, maybe its not like that for other people, but for me, I got a lot of siblings, and the eldest all did their own thing while I was growing up. They weren't really involved in my life, wasn't until recently when we're all grown up that we reconnected. I dunno, I guess I"m trying to say we all transition in life in our own ways, some of us face more adversity than the others; but we all experience growth differently, and evolve differently. But never forget your brothers, your sisters, even if its simply giving em a call. We all go through shit, and we gotta have each others backs. Put one up for your Brothers! (and sisters too nd)

I always play this when I miss my late brothers. Just in case of rough waters I wanna put one up for my brothers. I’m overwhelmed with blessings and miss them.
Man, I've been a huge Aesop fan for years and for some reason I missed this incredible track and album. This song speaks to me on so many levels. I kind of grew up as the older brother depicted in the track, the goth kid teen, and my little sister would always be there following suit. We went to plenty of Goth and Industrial shows together and despite me getting myself in trouble and having to be bailed out of bad situations more than once, she still stuck around.
Just when you think Aesop blew your mind to bits....he puts the pieces back together his way....and blows it again! This album is gonna be amazing. Aesop Rock= Untouchable
'Just in case of rough waters, I wanna put one up for my brothers' hits home for me, Aesop is a true poet.
Absolutely phenomenal song. Hilarious lighthearted versus full of character and a hook that’s so short and simple and still incredibly emotionally impactful. One of the only songs you’ll ever see that can make you laugh or cry. Didn’t even need his signature metaphorical, cryptic, poetic storytelling to do it. Just an incredible work of art.
One of these days Aes will be remembered as one of the greatest to ever pick up a pen and a pad.

+Pete Rock and JB Smoove Bazooka Tooth really only lacked in production for most of the album, Aes' lyricism on that was not his most subpar in any fashion, especially considering this is the album with the LSD verse that is surprisingly coherent, and even then there's some stellar production on songs like No Jumper Cables, The Greatest Pac-man Victory in History, and Mars Attacks.

I am so grateful Aesop Rock is making music still. Rhymesayers and all the people involved in helping Rock continue through life doing what he's doing is amazing. This music really does make me smile. THANK YOU
The way he tells a story with metaphors and little familiar references and descriptions combined with a sentence that can take a few minutes to unwrap and digest is amazing and the complexity, creativity, humor and relatability is why I think he's one of if not the greatest in hop hop history. He keeps getting better and better. There are 45 minute you tube videos breaking down and analyzing his three or four minute songs. A first listen feels like a choose your own adventure book as the words take your mind down different paths. You either have to pause and back up or repeat a song over and over to get to the bottom of it.
So good and really touches me deep that second part where he raps about his older brother makes me think of my older brother and how hard his life has been everything he’s been through from growing up until now. The beat is so good to damn on repeat
A son who've unjustly lost what he love, did a moment that transcend anger to high art. That line is on some next level shit
As the father of three boys, this gives me motivation for them to experience important things together and stay in touch their whole lives.
This man knows how to tell a story. One of my favorite rappers ever!
My family has been fans of Aesop Rock for generations
Tears in my eyes every time I watch. Enjoy your moments with your family because nothing last forever.
Never knew this had a video to it - it's almost how this always ran in my head. One of Aesop's more specific tracks and an absolute masterpiece on those vivid moments of youth. Man makes the title poet seem reductive - he's one of the few where yes the lyrics alone are incredible just to read off a page but you HAVE to hear the delivery - his voice is an instrument and words are notes and rhythms. I still can't say I'm a devoted fan of most of his work, I don't find him easy, on the whole, to listen to. For me at least, I can find it work sometimes - but when you crack it it just makes it all the more satisfying and poignant.
This is why I love hip hop, I like that he is telling stories from his perspective with rhymes over dope beats.
This song is beautiful. Something about it really resonates deep within. It has heartfelt and touching moments while also delivering reminiscent and fun memories. True masterpiece

It blows my mind how many people commented something to the degree that they just started listening to aesop rock. It is awesome so many people are finding out about him but god damn you have a lot of catching up to do! He has put out so much stuff and it has always gotten better. He is one of the rare artists who manages to keep delivering quality music over and over. I have been a fan since the late 90s and there are songs I've listened to a ton of times where I just figure out what lyrics about. I seen a comment on this video that said "blood sandwich = middle child". Shit like that is why he is awesome you can listen to his music and hear a line that you have heard a million times and then boom the meaning of it will pop into your head. He puts a lot of hard work into making good music, or idk maybe for him it isn't hard but either way I appreciate it. Aesop Rock is my favorite MC! The guy is a true lyricist and a legend!

I think you have to read alot of old poetry to understand his lines. Or maybe be on hallucinogens..

Pat Maloney Troll? I was just using your format to highlight that sometimes hiphop just requires some searching to get those diamonds in the ruff. Lots of people saying hiphop is dead are the same ones that just listen to the radio.

+Check my mixtape bruh very true.
Slowly becoming my favorite Aesop song.
This man is probably the greatest poet of our time.
I am drunk right now and this was heartfelt...all I can say is This guy is a pure genius! I enjoy listening to him more than Eminem See ya guys in the mornin...this Jack is driving me to the ground hehe
These beats are just jaw dropping.. How the f do you do it Aesop???? How tf do u memorize all of these lyrics!??? And they're so visually descriptive. 2.33: 🔉🔊🆙🆙🆙⬆
I've been listening to this album every day for the past year and a half, and it still hasn't gotten old. One of the few albums I would consider to be a masterpiece.
Aesop - if you read this - The Impossible Kid, IMO, is your all-around most impressive collective work of your career... keep it up!!
This seems like its shaping up to be the best Aesop album since Labor Days. I'm psyched.

Lol skelethon, none shall pass are all so good. Fast cars danger fire and knives as well. They're all so good! I just disagree that labor days is the best since it. And I love it too
Aesop gets better and better always stays relevant and keeps blowing minds
another contributing reason to why youre in my top 5 dead or alive musicans. moving. thank you aesop
With each and every album Aesop Rock continues to put up better work, with a more refined craft and deeper reaching concepts. He is one of the few great artists in the world at the moment.
Damn, this makes me really sad about the fact that I'm an only child. It's always been up to me, always. I wish I had an older brother or sister, to give me advice about life. I'm drunk and high af, much love from The Netherlands Aesop.

Just incase of rough waters, i wanna put one up for my brother.
So much of aesops work is very impressionistic and opaque, it just floors me what he can do when he bends his monolithic talent to make a very straightforward song.
Still coming back to The Impossible Kid on the regular to this day. I really do think it may have passed Skelethon for me and that's incredible.
How is he getting better? Must be the barn.

Just in case of rough waters I wanna put ONE UP FOR MY BROTHERS!
It blows my mind that one of the best and most creative hip hop verses that I've ever heard is a guy talking about his little brother's little league game.
As someone who grew up in a household with a mother exactly like that and also a family that grows apart as much as it grows old. This song really fucking hit home. A midwestern tale it seems and I love Aes with every coming song.
"Granny yelling 'Go Cubs!' Cubs ain't playing"
Skinny Puppy, Ministry, Neubauten... I would have been friends with his brother. Love hip-hop and industrial.
Easily one of the best hip hop beats of all time.
This is so humble and honest, god damn
