For anyone who's wondering, the AeroVonics brand is now uAvionix, the brand we all know and love. These control heads can be used for the new tailBeaconX. Just found this looking at an ADS-B solution for my Sonex, figured I'd save you all the trouble. Cheers!

Thank you! I was wondering about the two different names.

Did you already install a TailBeaconX in your Sonex? Thanks.

Great overview video. I have the AV-20S in my C170B. The attitude indicator was aligned once in flight and I haven’t had to reset the alignment since. So far I am very happy with the unit, and can’t wait for the certified AV-30 to be released.

Mariano Rosales Does the Garmin 275 offer anything additional for the substantial price difference?

I ended up getting an AV-20S for my Cherokee 180 that will be installed in the coming weeks. It will be great having density altitude, true airspeed, and a backup AI available.

Hopefully they add a "Conventional Gear" mode for our taildraggers. I would hate to have to futz with them after takeoff.

I love the “legacy” version. I’ve always thought that a more textured and three dimensional depiction makes the display more obvious and less “what am I looking at here?”

What excites me about this it helps to equalize the used aircraft market for experimental vs certified, at least in terms of instrumentation. If I see a vans rv-6 on barnstormers with a full steam gauge panel, I know I can add a 4” efis with minimal trouble. But now, I have a viable option for doing the same on, say, a cessna 150 aerobat. Yes, the certified instrument will cost a little more, I will have to have an a and p install it, etc, but it can be done and probably under $2,000 for instrument and installation.

AV30 vs Garmin 275? Little trouble here figuring out what the difference is for the price?

I am trying to find a demonstration of changing your squawk code on the AV-20 control head.

Cessna 195s and 140s had white on black attitude indicators if they even had AIs at all. You had to remember which part was supposed to be blue sky.

Great review, but it's getting WAY to old! Is there an update???

Absolutely the worst subtitles of any video that I ever tried to watch. It's obvious that Paul didn't create them, so KZread's translate does so automatically. It's a staggeringly bad piece of work that messes up another great video by Paul.
