Releases in July Worldwide, Japan in June
In March 2011 Japan was beset by a huge earthquake, a monstrous tsunami and the subsequent meltdown of the Fukushima nuclear plant. In the autumn of 2011, despite advice to the contrary, Aerosmith brought their "Back On The Road" tour to Japan, a country with which they'd always had a special relationship. The Japanese fans came out in their droves and Aerosmith responded with some of the finest gigs of their distinguished career. This film follows the band on that tour combining full length live tracks with behind the scenes footage which is at times touching and emotional and at others humorous and insightful. More than anything else it demonstrates the Japanese fans' love affair with Aerosmith and their music.

The fact that they're still doing THIS in their SEVENTIES deserves a MOUNTAIN of trophies. These dudes are INCREDIBLY badass to be living this rough life at such an age. Aerosmith is truly timeless.

TomsReviews, absolutely right. Aerosmith was essentially a local garage band that succeeded through raw ambition. In the early 70's, there were thousands of bands that started out just like Aerosmith. The vast majority of them didn't make it. The fact that their 1971 lineup is identical to their 2021 lineup blows me away. (Btw, you have to wonder, if John Bonham hadn't died in 1980, would Led Zeppelin have made it all the way to 2021 with their original lineup?)

@@dodgecrockett3474 That’s the truth! Their first rehearsal space outside their apartment building was the basement of my BU dorm at West Campus 1. It was a nice new 12 story building and, even in my room at the opposite end, 1224, could not be “free” of them once they started jamming out. Partly, it echoed up the elevator shaft like a giant speaker, but, mainly, they played LOUD! 😁 I never saw them hold back or get “fussy”. Still, in the half dozen or so times I was down there watching them, there was never anyone else! Just me and the Bad Boys from Boston. And they were cool guys. They just weren’t the typical BU student’s cup of tea❗️😀

dllyons47 True. In 78. Ish acdc arrived and Let There be Rock was now no 1 on the record stack These guys were first then second. Because the young brothers and Bon Scott were better . They dressed like us . That didn't hurt either No hair salons or dress rehearsals. That taste continued The next was the tragically hip. Lost another front man Good one too Our other favorite Tom petty That's three for three Now I'm a little weary. Enough time for honourable mention. Led Zeppelin. Queen.

Aerosmith is one of the greatest! I'm 16 and I listen to music from the 90's back to the 50's and some people in school think there's something really wrong with me for that. MOST of today's music is nothing compared to the art of the 20th century.

Best concert ever!! 2001 took our 8yr old daughter (earplugs of course) But she knew all the songs as her Dad plays the guitar & people kept coming up "Oh if my kid knew your kid was here - they wanted to come!" She & I snuck down close & they dimmed the lights for "Don't want to miss a thing" on a cat walk - we were just feet away - what a memory - just memorizing :)

Something else -- Joe's technical skill is better now than it was in the '70s. For example, he does faster picking in some of his live stuff of the past 15 or 20 years than I ever heard him do on the classic studio albums, and he plays around with scales other than the good ol' pentatonic blues box. Either he practiced a lot in recent years, or he was always that good and the drugs just held him back.
