Part of their resurgence...after years of conflict, lineup changes, drugs and alcohol abuse, they came back with a vengeance. Permanent Vacation has to be one of the best comeback albums of all time (though they did release Smoke and Mirrors not long before, but I consider that the opening act for this album). They got clean, got focused and got back to doing what they do best. This is one of my favorite Aerosmith tracks from this era.

What an ingenious tune, slide guitar, ragtime groove, that swingin hi-hat with big band bass drum, and Tyler's scratchy vocals. This song never gets old, so many layers of influence. It sounds just as unique now as it did in the hot summer of '87.

Everyone feels that way. In the 90s Everyone wanted to be in the 60s, and the Doors had a resurgence. Probably because of the dystopian war on drugs when you could go to prison for a roach. Though admittedly the 90s were absolutely wild. I am convinced that 9/11 happened to get Gen X under control. We did burn down Woodstock to let the Boomers know how we felt about them. So maybe you are right, lol.
The artists put in a lot of work in producing this song. It should'nt be forgotten. A masterpiece.

Aerosmith made it big in the early to middle 70s, their content dropped in the late 70s, then got better in the mid to late 80s, and then probably peaked somewhere in the 90s. Regardless of this, whether I think their early stuff was good, or their later stuff, this song will always remain one of my favorite Aerosmith songs of all time.

I'm 79. AEROSMITH is the best for me❗❗❗Greetings from POLAND❗❗❗
❤ Aerosmith was my very favorite band in high school (the 70's). I saw them in concert in '77. Then I had kids & didn't go to concerts for years. My kids went to the same high school as me. One night I was in the high school parking lot, waiting to pick-up my son. I was listening to Aerosmith & it hit me, that here I was, sitting in this same parking lot, doing the same thing as 20 years before! ❤ I saw Aerosmith in concert again in 1997. 😃
The only reason I am listening to this is because when me and my family are on a car road trip we take turns and listen to music, and my dad picked this song when it was his turn and said he listened to this when he was 15 and I really liked it lol
I literally love this song, I'm soo glad I found Aerosmith, I remember I just happened to find one of their albums in a five dollar bin at a Best Buy, and damn I've been hooked ever sense, I'm 17, but what I wouldn't give to go back to the 70's and 80's to see these guys in their prime!
@chelsblue7370

Their prime, performance wise, was actually probably mid-late 90s. They were high as kites in the 70s and early 80s. Late 80s they were kinda figuring out how to do it sober. 90s to early 2000s was peak Tyler vocals. But heck, go see them now if you get a chance. They’re still really good live today.
Rag Doll is in the top 10 of Aerosmith tracks.

Anyone else sick of "is anyone else here in so and so year?!?"?
Just brilliant. Still one of my favorite rock songs by any band anywhere. Hooks me in no matter where I am. One of their finest ever.
Anyone else think this song has one of Joe Perry’s best solos?
I used to dance, and the only performance I remember was us dancing to this. We did Clogging, which is a louder version of tap dance. I loved this song and im so glad I found it years later
If only Oliver & Company would have had Aerosmith featured in a Disney movie, it would have been rocking awesome. The movie could've also been a jukebox musical like Permanent Vacation, the ninth studio album from Aerosmith.
Loving this HD version! What an incredibly fun and timeless band. Thank you for all these years of joy, Aerosmith. 💋

Perfect song❤
The first time a Listening this song, it was a Guitar Hero Aerosmith :) Good times i still got the game
I'm probably too young to be an OG Aerosmith fan but I grew up in a house with 5 older brothers. I'm the youngest of 3 girls and I was severely bullied by my cousin brothers for taking after the older girls' music taste as a teenager back in the 90's. After a long and painful mocking streak my brothers introduced me to the album Dark side of the moon (only girl they could influence in the house). However I noticed another band blasting through the house quite often that was more to my liking. Yes they were THE BOSTON B*tches and I was smitten!! My brothers made sure I was well versed in the camaraderie between Aerosmith and GNR. Picking a side was smooth sailing for me and I haven't looked back since and I believe I've never even fallen in love with another artist or band quite like the way I had with my favorite band (to date), Aerosmith! I'd tattoo the winged logo across my forehead if I could! I wish I have the opportunity to see you guys live in concert at least in my dreams... 💔

Plenty of Gen Z and Gen Alpha kids these days love older music (60s - 90s) but speaking as someone close to your age (84 baby) back in the ACTUAL 90s there was more peer pressure and a unified pop culture (grunge and gangsta rap) and without social media it wasn't as easy or as common for kids to discover older music. I was one of the outliers too being hard into 70s-80s bands. Also even though Aerosmith wasn't a hair band, songs like this were at least "80s hair metal adjacent" and that got mocked bad during the 90s/early 2000s before it slowly got retro cool again (Beavis and Butthead and Stewart with his winger t shirt) 😂 Sorry for that long ass post but just to say nobody's too young to like good music

@xennial80sxberner 84? Cool 86 here, although I hope I'd still be having conversations like these when I'm actually 86! 😂 I know Aerosmith got a lot of heat back then for a combination of things, which I feel is unfair. Idk I never went with the flow on what's trending. Usually, those are the exoteric bands or songs that make the charts. I further learned to appreciate bands and a wider array of genres when I started working for a radio and learned to play the acoustic drums after a bad break up (you know how you wanna just bang on something.... I got constructive with it, lol. Aerosmith played a big part in molding my teenage years, and they just kinda stuck with me since. I'll always have a soft spot for the band. In fact, I'm actually looking into their peace out tour tickets. I'm seriously considering going with my sister. It will absolutely be worth it if I do end up managing the trip. They might not be the Beyonce of their time, but Tyler's is a class act in his own right. Apologies for rambling on... 😅 Good talk.
