I'm not sure why, but even a week after finishing the game, I find myself drawn back to this scene. There's something deeply emotional about it. It's hauntingly beautiful and leaves a lingering sense of nostalgia. 😢

Here she was killed, zack was took to another timeline, then this timeline ended with Meteor taking the W. She literally sacrificed a whole timeline to save Cloud and the party from Sephiroth

I think Zack has to do with saving Aerith and helping Cloud get better. When Aerith prayed for protection of her friends, I believe her prayers included Zack unknowingly because he still alive in hoping to return back to Aerith but is time traveled somewhere else.

I’m not sure about timeline. The timeline in the “coma aerith” dosnt make sense. Not only is meteor not shown to be the cause or hinted at (if I recall),what’s causing the end of the planet is the destruction of the world’s reality thanks to sephiroth (the scratch in the sky). Because these worlds WERENT suppose to exist, now it’s the universe trying to undue the war between aerith and sephiroth. It’s why things get worse in coma aerith world. It also explains why aerith can only access when she is knocked out in “our world” jsut like cloud or if she chooses to go over. Remember, she deliberately choose that world to spend one last date with cloud because sephiroth was going to kill her. So she hoped To delay her death momentarily by…choosing a world where he initially wouldn’t think to look. We also can’t say if Zack was sent to another timeline. I don’t think timelines matter here, they are worlds that were artistically created and are in direct conflict with the universe. Zack however whether he is IS IN A STABLE WORLD for now. He could actually be in the gangs world. I don’t think aerith knew he was alive.

Yes, exactly, here she was killed, aerith weird when mention "about liking and liking" is refer to marlene and zack conversation, she knew that. she love cloud like marlene say, but she want zack alive. because "you were not there" as mention" zack is dead state from marlene, so she push cloud out from timeline and sephiroth arive at cruch. because zack will dead if cloud stay at crouch/timeline.

The first and last time we see Future Aerith, and all she wanted to do in her final moments was date Cloud in the slums, thank and hold him dearly Our Aerith may now have Holy, but the memories tethered to it doesn’t make her the same as future Aerith, cuz all she sees are just memories of what future self would do, she didn’t experience it. …this damn game, Square making me sad its too beautiful

I refuse to believe that they won’t bring Aerith back in the third game with all the multiverse nonsense it’s obvious that it was made for that purpose.

I really hope they don't. It would cheapen her sacrifice. Having her be part of the lifestream where only Cloud can interact with her is a perfect setup so she is there, but not in the party anymore.

@@bradhorowitz2765 there is a few instance. 1st is in the beach scene. Remake Aerith mention that Cloud will meet her future self. 2nd is Aerith demenor. You can see that is different Aerith. Even Cloud noticed and mention the difference. 3rd is Sephiroth himself. I can't explain properly but it is the way Sephiroth talk to Og Aerith when Cloud was having the dream date.

This is not the Aerith from the main story, but it is possible that she is the Aerith who appears as a ghost at the end.

People dont understand Aerith has to be in the lifestream to save the planet. Maybe in the 3rd game they might do something with the different timelines to bring her back. But at this point she is "dead" to the party. Cloud is having issues with her passing like he did in the OG game. Then later he learns to deal with it. Again maybe they will do something with Aerith were she explains to Cloud what has really taken place.

@@ErenDenizMert I was joking about how in the movie Inception, the top was still spinning when the cut to the credits happened. The viewer is meant to question whether what they saw in the last scenes of the movie were really happening or a dream of the main character. This just feels similar.

Sure. They still gave a poignant moment absolutely zero room to breathe! Same with Dyne and barret. The original framed the conflict as Dyne in his psychosis, planning to murder Marlene to reunite her with Elanore. You fight one-on-one on the grave markers. In rebirth, they go shounen anime with a frog mecha and have a stupid as hell minigame right after the fact! Rebirth is a huge positive step from remake. It's not the writing or the changes, but the direction. Aerith's death needed room to breathe. Dyne's death needed room to breathe.

Even in the OG Aerith is alive chilling in the livestream.

Sephiroth's plan all along. he let cloud experience a small fragment of the multiverse where cloud stopped him from killing aerith. he knew the arbiters would correct it. but it was enough of a gap in the timeline to slip in the workings of his true plan. Cloud was on his radar since being beaten by him in Cloud's hometown. he figured out there was no way to actually win unless he corrupts cloud after being defeated again at the finale of the original game. cloud is the key. this is known since he came back again in the future in that movie. preventing cloud from being in the coma prevents him from being purified of his influence. he was able to get cloud to corrupt the materia. the sephiroth cloud faces in the end of remake was the future version of him.

There is one little flaw. Sephy didnt do it. It was Aeirth. How? Well, look at how sephy sends people trough timelines, in a pitch dark way, like he sent Zack away from the church, he pushed him into some dark cloud (heh). Now, look at the ground the sword landed on, isn't it the same colour as the ground on the dream date when Aeirth pushes Cloud back to the remake timeline? It is. She did it. She knew dying would overcharge her powers, her lingering around also balances somewhat Cloud, at least in the short term. It also means there is a timeline where she is alive and praying.

It’s really not that black and white, she is dead in his timeline yes. But there is 100% a timeline where he saves her, this is proven by the rainbow when he deflects sephiroths sword. the reason why he can see aerith and the crack in his reality while nobody else can is because he and aerith are the only ones who can simultaneously shift realities

Aerith is truly dead in the OG timeline but Cloud saves her in a different timeline. Aerith death scene: New timeline: Cloud screams, “NO!” A rainbow of light goes up his sword, it glows green and you see a green mist coming from his sword. Like what Rosa did to Alphreid sword in the loveless play. As Cloud deflects Sephiroth sword you see rainbows, like this church scene. Watch as Sephiroth sword lands, it lands straight up, Cloud saves Aerith. OG timeline. Aerith death scene, look at Sephiroth sword, it’s sideways. Tifa stops running she sees blood, no blood, she is confused but remember she was in the lifestream. New timeline. Cloud tells Aerith I got this, lays Aerith on her back, the others aren’t moving like they aren’t there, frozen in time. OG timeline. After the fight, Tifa runs to Aerith she is laying on her side, this part is important, as soon as you see one of Cloud’s boot, pause, zoom into the others you see Aerith still laying on her side and Tifa kneeling beside her. New timeline. As Cloud is approaching, Aerith is laying on her back, Cloud walks through the whispers and the others disappear, Cloud asks Aerith to wake up she does. Why do you think Sephiroth told her, “I must admit, I underestimated you” The reason why Cloud sees the rift in the sky, is because he can see both worlds. Remember Hojo did injected him with Jenova cells and mako. Kitase confirmed the third game isn’t going to be the same as AC. "The overall storyline, the developments, will not go wildly out in a way that will not add up to Advent Children in the end, I don't think anyone wanted that; that's not what we're looking to create here.” It was Aerith fate to die in the OG world she did but creating a new one means she can change her fate and she did.

It's heart breaking Aerith knew she's gonna die in the original timeline so she swapped herself with Zack's timeline version of her, whose fate is presumably not to die, and chose to die in the alternate timeline instead, just a little bit sooner than she's supposed to in the original timeline, only to have a final date with Cloud

Part 3: the world's merge and Cloud and Aerith wake up from their coma with full knowledge of everything. Cloud knows what he has to do and he saves her. Since this happens post Aerith death, she doesn't need to die or reset the timeline after Cloud saves her. She lives and they both kick Seohiroth ass in Northern crater. Calling it now.

I like your predictions here are mine. Part 3: We see Zack healing Cloud like Marlene asked, which is why he Cloud is able to save Aerith in one timeline and she died in the OG one. I can show proof of her death scene if you want. Cloud and the others fight in the OG timeline and will link up with some of the characters from AC. Sephiroth knows Aerith lives in one timeline so he will do anything to stop her, Zack and her will fight in her timeline, maybe Cissnei will join them, but Zack knows Aerith has feelings for Cloud because Marlene told him. Maybe they will show us Zack accepting, like a closure for Zack and Aerith and I hope Zack and Cissnei will get together. Cloud will trap a certain memory in the empty materia Aerith gave him. Ending. Cloud and Aerith will reunite at “our spot” I wish I could borrow Doctor Who time machine just so I can go into the future to play game 3 😂

Did u not play the game? She and cloud woke up already on their dream date, Sephiroth still manages to find her and storms in the church to go after Aerith after she kicks Cloud to the original timeline.

Honestly would’ve awesome if they added multiple endings if there even is any. Not sure yet but if there was imagine being able to save her just for you own canon story. It is a game after all. Sadly probably not 😢

They cannot do something like that given they have to make another sequel to the game. It would be almost impossible to make a sequel that carries over the choice of whether the players saved or failed a prominent character like Aerith. So the multiple endings is likely something they will do in the final part. The multiverse aspect pretty much makes ending possible anyway. Still, I feel like it cheapens everything as well. Who cares if a character dies in a particular verse when they exist in another etc. The stakes are lower.

​@@eufrosniad994what stakes lmao, she was never truly dead, not in the OG nor AC, I assure you, they would've done something like this if the PSX allowed them to. They even set-up the multiple Aerith thing in the original ending, her looping back to the beginning. And talking about multiple endings, remember something, if they come up with an ending involving comatose Aeirth/ cloud that would mean a dead Tifa and Barret. No, FF7 is a cashcow, multiple endings means cloti, clerith, and what have you in between happy and paying up.

I cannot emphasis how much I love this version of Aerith. Not much in the OG and AC those but this two Part 1&2 made me really loving her character Props to the VA thou making her sound so innocent and cheerful in nature but you can sense she’s have the underlying sadness to everything she talks about. Maybe I like angst and pain and bittersweet stuff and torturing myself. 😑

Isnt Remake’s world considered an alternate one from the OG? He created another seperate world where she lives but dies in Remakes world regardless correct? So in Clouds mind, him being able to see Aerith and leaving her behind makes it seem like shes just staying at the forgotten capital and can go visit her whenever. That explains why he isnt bothered. He can see her because Aerith can communicate with him from another world but i dont think he was aware that no one else could. Think Aerith was attempting to spare him the grief but i think in part 3, hes gonna have a sudden realization that shes dead in his world. I wonder what happens when the worlds merge??

The crossing over song, that was played for Jessie, Biggs and Wedge in the background, the "Goodbye" being somber and not optimistic..."No promises" is a message to the audience. Telling them right now to not let their expectations get out of hand through the 5 year wait. The girl's dead; Cloud will be the last person to realize it.

Seeing how Cloud goes haywire during the black materia scene, I think they are aiming to further explore his mental breakdown, his past, his condition in Part 3

@@zamaskowany12 sure, she will be playable again, but as a ghost lol. Only Cloud will be able to see her if she ended up being playable again in Part 3. but tbh, i'd rather not have her back in the party as it would only make her death cheap.

I think for the final part, there will be multiple ending according to the players' choice mechanism, but if square enix will make final part like the OG FF7, no matter players' choice mechanism we've chosen in the game, the game ending will be same. Aerith stops the meteor, Cloud eliminates Sephiroth. But, the last message makes us confused, "No Promises Await at Journey's End" it's like telling us, anything can happen that Square Enix will provide the game for the FF7 fans according to player's fantasy, Cloud with Aerith or Cloud With Tifa. But, according to the soundtrack, "no promises to keep" also telling us that after sephiroth had been eliminated, meteor had been stopped, the fate will be restored, and Cloud can resurrect Aerith from Death in the Church or Cloud will join Aerith in Livestreams forever. I know, I just make my own speculations.

I wonder if Aerith's fate can somehow be undone in the 3rd part or if they were just getting our hopes up for nothing :/

@@ErenDenizMert to be honest I was expecting them to leave the game on a serious cliffhanger, like did Cloud block Seph’s sword or not? But the way Cloud seems confused and delusional about her right now isn’t very different I guess. The worst part is, and correct me if wrong, Aerith is dead in all different universes under different circumstances , so that means she couldn’t have escaped death anyway.

Thank God for Kingdom Hearts. 😂😂😂😂😂😂 At least we can all imagine something else with that universe.

Rebirth Aerith should not be dead btw: She fell with Cloud and they woke up in the bodies of their alternative selves. Aerith's body from Rebirth should still be where they fell, unless they meant it as Cloud and Aerith of Rebirth died and their memories supplanted the comatose bodies of the alternative reality. Also, don't forget the game begins with all the crew except Biggs dead, whilst they are alive in Rebirth at the same time, so it's not like it is impossible for the cast to be ''dead-alive'' depending on where you are in the split of realities. I just think Nomura and co just pulled a fast one and made an Aerith (and possibly Cloud) body disappear that could receive the white materia and memories again. Finally, I am disappointed with the ending because the devs did not commit: The previous game made the promise of Fate can be changed. This game did not fulfill the promise, nor did it deny it. It is in a weird middle ground and now I'm afraid part 3 will do the same where the game will essentially remain the same, fate can never be changed, or maybe it can from a certain point of view. I just wanted the devs to commit one direction or another. Otherwise, what's the point of all the small changes they made and the addition of the Whispers and so on?

guys ya gotta start thinking multiverse. cloud Definitely saved a version of aerith somewhere. shes the one who shows up and the final fight (where she also says " i saw what you did for me, thank you") and the one whos communing with cloud in the end cinematic. somehow cloud is connected to both his reality and the one he saved aerith in. thats why he can see the sky cracked as well. the one from the church was a sacrifice play to get a working holy materia back in the main timeline. thats why in the woods she takes the working one and swaps it with the empty one. unfortunately the main remake timeline aerith is dead. she dropped holy just like in the OG and we will have to come get it again in the third game. the real question is will they bring all 3 together? main remake cloud, zach from the split line where he went to the church ( not to be confused with the one that went to save biggs). and the version of aerith cloud saved.

Part 3 mission saving aerith in the different timeline...

People complain about the death scene, but I think this was meant as it's replacement in regards to impact. This here for me is what sold the historical scene that comes later. It, by itself, has less impact and isn't new anymore. I think most people complaining didn't play the game or didn't pay attention to these moments.

I was so confused and I was looking for answers, after watching this video I can say I am even more confused 😅 if these is any kind soul that can explain to me what the hell is happening between Cloud, Aerith and Zack? 😂

These worlds are made from the memories and dreams of the dead. Not timelines, not a multiverse, this is all within the Lifestream. There's a Cosmo Canyon NPC that says the Lifestream may not contain just knowledge, but also abstract things like hopes, dreams, regrets, fantasies etc. The Lifestream doesn't distinguish between reality and fiction. When you "peer through the looking glass" you see worlds made from a jumble of dreams and memories. They're like mini purgatories that the souls of the dead create to cope with their death/regrets. Time doesn't exist within the Lifestream so these worlds can contain seemingly entire lifetimes. When a soul passes on, their dream world/purgatory also fades. Cetra and ppl who have been heavily exposed to mako (Cloud, Sephiroth, possibly Tifa) are able to percieve these worlds and create their own dream worlds, whether its Aerith wanting one last date with Cloud before she dies, or Cloud creating a world where Aerith lives. The Lifestream is very similar to FFX's concept of the Farplane, where time doesn't flow and entire worlds/people made from memories of the dead exist. This existed in OG 7 too, the Lifestream sequence is a world within Cloud's subconscious. The crack in the sky, like OG, means we're in the Lifestream.

I really hope Cloud can say goodbye properly one day. Was really hoping you could save her somehow, even if it was a non-canon easter egg.

I think the empty materia will become Holy again after Cloud is helped by Tifa to become whole after they fall into the Lifestream.

she's always been the hero/savior of the original FF7 game. That's why the first and last thing you see in OG game is her.

In the book, Aeris and Sephiroth are kept conscious in the lifestream by Cloud's attention to them. Accordingly, love for Aeris and hatred for Sephiroth. Except this entire scene (date & church) doesn't happen if you choose to skip Zack's story in ng+. Kinda telling that the devs made these scenes tied to Zack's interlude 🤷🏻‍♀️ and 'our spot' was a localisation thing, not in the original Japanese dialogue.

okay first off the people who got early access should be aware most people do not have a choice but to get early access unless they decide to become a famous streamer like them and if you only want to be a streamer to get early access to games you are doing it for the wrong reasons and wont be able to do it. secondly the demo gives you what an extra hour or 2 head start lol. so i cant see the demo making much of a difference like i find its unfair for these people to be posting spoilers like this when its very obvious most people have not even played 26 hours of the game yet and apparently takes minium 40 hours to beat like maybe i am sure some people have beaten the game who played it since yesterday but its impossible anyone who got the game yesterday beat the game before this video game out.(it came out 12 hours or something after the game came out) @@LeonardMosca

This is the max hearts Aerith final date scene, which imo is also canon story-wise. Man, I love Tifa so much cause she's hot lol but if you play the game and really understand Cloud - his every actions all points towards Aerith's affection. Even the ending credits show all the max heart Aerith choices not the others. You also see how she removed her hair ribbon, which is gifted by Zack, as if signaling she's moved on after "confirming their relationship". But then again, it seems the devs forgot or retconned Crisis Core because of the merging timelines. The child Aerith is also shown here to have already worn the pink ribbon. lol Stil, I'm excited for Part 3!

Low affinity barely changes the scene at all anyway. I assume the change is mostly because without the GS date being Aerith she hasn't outright told Cloud that she prefers him yet. So he answers more defensive "I mean yeah, why not" instead of the more confident "Yeah. Next time." Aerith repeats his "next time" and Cloud thinks he overstepped a boundary. It makes perfect sense. Regardless of which line Cloud says Aerith takes it as him wanting to go on another date. Which is true. Regardless of your choices in the game their hug, Aerith's "thank you" (JP "Arigatou," which is what Yuna said to Tidus to declare her love. It was literally translated as "I love you"), and handholding with interlocked fingers

The Tifa kiss is not canon and just optional fanservice if you go out of your way and play the game in a specific way that massively favors Tifa. All those scenes with Aerith are main story missions and are not optional, missable content like the one with Tifa.

I'm inclined to believe that there are too many questions to boil this down to whether or not Aerith is dead: -The team goes through a portal in the first game. -Zack is alive in another dimension/timeline thanks to the Whispers. -Marlene (who never saw Sephiroth) described who Sephiroth was to Zack and that Cloud needed to wake up to save Aerith. -We have dueling Whispers. -Cloud has commented about knowing stuff he shouldn't know and having different versions of events compared with other people (lending to the idea that he is being given this information for some reason). -Tifa had some visions of events when she fell into the Mako (negating the idea that Mako is corrupting someone's memories). -Sephiroth seems to be trying to control the outcome by creating different dimensions/timelines, making it so that Aerith can't stop him in one dimension/timeline. -Zack and Cloud from different dimensions/timelines merged into one to attempt to defeat Sephiroth. -The Whisperers brought Aerith back for one more fight against Sephiroth (bringin in the question of where they pulled her from). -Zack is back in his dimension/timeline with a still-alive Aerith. Is she gone for now? I believe that that's a safe assumption to make. However, considering she's a Cetra and the mess Sephiroth is making with the dimensions/timelines, I'm inclined to believe the Whispers will still hold some importance.

FF7 love story confusing as hell, but is there even love that crystal clear? After some thoughts, my conclusions is that both Cloud love for Tifa and Cloud for Aerith is valid. Not that it makes sense, but it is true. Which one is stronger? Well, they're different in the first place. Cloud and Tifa is a deep passion, slow burn continous connection, they're meant to continue life together. They're concious love. All the love between them are intentional action. Grown from logical decision. She's her friend since childhood. She's perfect potential lover. She's a keeper, the obvious choice. But Aerith and Cloud, it's like, limited experience of love. Like, you only realize how much you kept love for someone once it's gone. The Unconcious love. He barely know her. He already had a crush on someone else. And yet, he felt a strong connection. He can empathize with her with such ease. There's huge attraction to this mysterious person, and you are curious with her allure. The more things unraveled the more you feel connected. You can't explain it. So then you blame fate and destiny (in audience's case: the plot). It's hard to explain because it's not logical. It's experience. Only someone who experienced loss & try to love again will found wisdom that both are real thing.
