A relative used to own/farm the land between the railway line and the Loddon River. What a beautiful office he had to work at. Great little town with a very rich history which makes you proud to be an Australian.

That old store has always been like that. It’s from the gold rush. Hasn’t been a store in decades. It was more recently an antique store. That barn has been restored by the pub inside and can be hired for functions and theatre shows. The actual store does breakfasts. The pub does good meals and has a great beer garden. I was nearly killed at that intersection a few years ago - sitting in my car waiting to cross to the store. Some old fella got into Land Cruiser across the road, didn’t know what he was doing and put it in reverse and put his foot on the accelerator and flew backwards across the intersection straight for me in my stationary car and at the last moment he turned and backed right in to the front door way of the pub at speed half collapsing the veranda as well.

That bridge is all sound. The railway ran Castlemaine to Newstead to Maryborough. They only recently took up the tracks in sections to Castlemaine. I believe they have been gifted to a heritage railway. It’s shocked me the store is closing - it WAS run by some lovely ladies for years until they sold it about 3 years ago. They made their own pies and cakes. I always felt the new owners that took over changed the store a lot, and lost customers.

@@urbanaerialexplorer1885 They only did it up a few years ago. Repainted, repointed the bricks. I like it even though no train goes over.

Had to make 2 trips to the town - There is a drone stuck VERY high in a tree and had to do the drone footage a second time with my other drone .... The neighbours to the tree know about the drone and hopefully a strong wind will knock it down and they'll let me know ... Then again someone with a paint ball gun could shoot it out of the tree; it's very high up !
