Bauang is a coastal municipality in the province of La Union.
The municipality has a land area of 73.15 square kilometers or 28.24 square miles which constitutes 4.88% of La Union's total area. Its population as determined by the 2020 Census was 78,449. This represented 9.54% of the total population of La Union province, or 1.48% of the overall population of the Ilocos Region. Based on these figures, the population density is computed at 1,072 inhabitants per square kilometer or 2,778 inhabitants per square mile.
Bauang, officially the Municipality of Bauang (Ilocano: Ili ti Bauang; Filipino: Bayan ng Bauang), is a 1st class municipality in the province of La Union, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 78,449 people. [5] In Philippine Literature and History, it is known for being the homeplace of literary icon[7] and World War II martyr Manuel Arguilla.[8][9]
