    This is the best sling I’ve ever had. The usability is off the charts.

    I think that if the strap were thinner, it would dig into you more. Just my experience, carrying a messenger bag daily for about 13 years now in Peru, Chile, and Mexico--and walking for miles each day, 7 days/week. No exaggeration.

    Just sold my Bellroy Sling Mini and am looking at the aer day sling. Yes, the bellroy looks nice but I have had 2 issues with it. First, the compression mechanism you mentioned is nice in theory but since the strap is so thin and anchored straight at the sides in my opinion it doesn't look und feel great while carrying. It twists on it self and due to the anchor points the bag doesn't lay flat against the body but rather the bottom side goes out in a way. Second, since the main compartment zipper is against the body the compression mechanism basically makes it inaccessable while carrying. So yeah.. looks good on pictures and on the desk but tbh isn't a great expierence…

    I have the Bellroy Sling Mini and a bunch of AER kits (Split Kit, AER Pouch X-Pac and Travel Kit) so I think I can judge the product... I picked up the Bellroy Sling Lite recently which is best of the bunch in my opinion as far as slings go. The Bellroy Lite series is thinner, lighter and opens wider. Just my .02

    I been using mine for the past week. I bought both this and the new bellroy venture mini sling. I did like it, but it was just too small for my pocket stuff. When it was all loaded I didn't like the look. What I like about this is the folding part in the middle if you dont need to expand it i like that its slim but if you need that extra space its there. But thanks for the follow up video I enjoyed it.

    The width of the strap has nothing to do with the chafing. It's the weight of the gear you have in the sling. A slimmer strap would actually be worse.

    Yes definitely agree. But a thinner strap would be less likely to rub against your neck.

    Bags often have straps that are too wide. I understand it's supposedly about weight distribution, but for the weights carried in a bag like this, a wide strap is just overkill, and gets in the way.

    Firstly, love your work and your channel.. You mentioned the Bellboy Sling Mini. I used it for about 5 months and my biggest problem with it is what you mentioned that you liked. You mentioned how the strap pulls the bag together and makes it 'slim' all the time regardless of how much you put in there. Although this sounds good in theory, in practise this is the biggest problem with the Bellroy for me. The straps pulling the bag together makes it difficult to zip open. its like an auto closing bag.. You have to kind of relax the strap to open the bag especially if you're wearing it around your waist. How are you meant to get something out of this bag when the strap is forcing it tightly closed with whatever is in the bag weighing it down and forcing it more closed? It's a messy system and I'm surprised nobody else has picked up on this. I must admit I was wearing it around my waist most of the time and like this, opening it was impossible. You'd have to pull your stomach in to try to relax the strap to just unzip it.. (and I'm by no means overweight I'm slim) It was quicker to just unstrap it to unzip it and remove an item. Sure around your shoulder would be easier but still the same problem, the strap needs to be relaxed. I feel that the strap pulling this bag closed all the time needs to be mounted at the centre area of the bag not at the very top. The strap closing system is the very reason I'm looking for a new bag - Now considering the Aer Day Sling 3 you are reviewing. Another is the Alpaka Sling Mini..

    Thank you! I agree with you. I didn’t find the strap on the Bellroy to be quite as annoying, but didn’t wear it around my waist. When over the shoulder, I find you can just add some support to the bottom of it and that’ll loosen up the strap. I guess it depends how much you’re putting in the bag as well! But appreciate your perspective. I’m still using the Aer Day Sling 3, it’s great. I have no negatives about it. I know that Tomtoc released an X-PAC version as well, I’d suggest checking that out as they’re great for the money.

    If someone just tried to grab the bag and rip it off you, the buckle wouldn’t come off unless they happened to pull it in exactly the right direction (very unlikely) - the lock is good 👍🏼

    I forgot to ask in my previous comment. Can that sling be worn around the waist? It seems the straps come out at an angle which would make the bag sit too low around the waist, am I right?

  • @AlekseyG

    @AlekseyG

    9 ай бұрын

    It can, but isn’t designed for it and so if that’s what you’re looking for I’d look elsewhere. On a recent trip to Europe I always would put it around my waist when we would stop to eat places and for a sit down meal it’s great around the waist, but otherwise it’s mostly a normal shoulder sling.

  • @AlekseyG

    @AlekseyG

    Yeah I think it would probably fit in the main compartment, but honestly I’d look for a sling that markets that specific feature as it would be built with a pocket just perfect for an iPad mini.

  • @AlekseyG

    @AlekseyG

    Жыл бұрын

    Material: the Aer is better in terms of being weather-proof, if that’s important to you. Otherwise, both are made of great materials. Functionality: I prefer the Aer as it has more internal organization for smaller items. But if you plan to carry larger items (kindle, umbrella, water bottle, etc) then the Bellroy would be better. I might get the Bellroy to test in the future. The issue is Aer doesn’t sell on Amazon so it’s more of a hassle to return. If you use the link in my description to get the Bellroy from Amazon, it’s much easier to return for free.

  • @AlekseyG

    @AlekseyG

    Maybe, would probably be tight and then you can’t fit anything else into the bag. In that use case I’d suggest either a backpack, or using a carabiner to clip the tumbler (if it has a place to clip to) to one of the pull tabs on the sling bag…this is what I do!
