Aeonium Maintenance and Updates

My Aeonium plants have woken up from their dormancy, so it's time to remove all the shade cloth that had been protecting them during the summer heat. It's a refreshing sight to see these beauties come to life again.
Of course, this change of season also calls for some maintenance work. I'm doing what I can to ensure their health and growth during these colder months.
I wish you all a wonderful winter and hope your plants are thriving too! If you found this video helpful, don't forget to like, share, and subscribe for more green-thumb tips. Stay warm and happy gardening!

    I have a few collections of aeoniums and today I took them out in the sun and was wondering if I should keep it there for the summer. They have been in the shade in the spring, I was wondering if they should be OK to put them out in the sun now. Thank you and I love watching your videos. I also like it that your husband helps with your garden, my husband is no help. lol!!!

    Hi Eliza, thank you so much for taking time to watch my channel 🥰. I really appreciate it a lot.Aeoniums are summer dormant. It would be better for Aeoniums to be out of the extreme sun exposure during the summer season.unless your summer heat is not extreme,it will be fine.Aeonium loves the cold weather but some of Aeonium varieties can’t handle frost but some can. And yes it’s really easy to do things around the garden with the help of my hubby 😁

    I noticed you left a few leaves on the cut? Is that necessary to keep the cut stem alive? How long until you pot up the cuttings? Lovely collection. Thankyou.

    Not really necessary some of the stem with no leaf left behind still produce babies. And I just wait 3 days before I plant them and I water straight away after planting

    Hi Ems, I have a question for you. do you know why aeonium top is flat, not cup shaped?

  • @Emshomesucculentgarden

    @Emshomesucculentgarden

    Ай бұрын

    Hi Jean, I did some research and this is what I found Aeonium is a succulent plant, and its leaves can take on different shapes depending on the specific species and growing conditions. A flat top on an Aeonium can be caused by a few factors: 1. Age: As Aeonium leaves mature, they can flatten out and lose their cup-shaped form. 2. Light exposure: Aeonium leaves can become flatter if they're not receiving enough light. Cup-shaped leaves are often a result of the plant stretching towards the light source. 3. Watering: Overwatering can cause the leaves to become flat and lose their shape. 4. Species variation: Some Aeonium species naturally have flatter leaves than others. 5. Environmental factors: Weather conditions, temperature, and humidity can also influence the shape of the leaves.

    @@Emshomesucculentgarden Hi Ems, Thank you so much!!!!! I looked it up online a while back but didn't find useful info. I"m guessing it's probably not enough light then. I don't water it much. They are all young single head plants so not due to age. I will try to put it in a place with more light and see if they get better. It's very flat, like a table on the top. :(
