    Just a note on the Aeon 80s. The bigger the shell the more forgiving the groove tricks are. Because the size of the Wheel stays the same, when the frame shortens the h-blocks shrinks quite a bit, while on the larger sizes you have something more to work with. Royals in the Aeon 80s are much harder to do because of the height of the frame, but they are not impossible of course. Learning to royal in the Aeon 80s makes your royals better overall and forces you to have correct technique. Overall, I think the Aeon 80 is absolutely incredible and is one of my favorite skates.

    I've had my 80s for a few months now and I absolutely love them. They are my fave skates. I put some blue superfoot footbeds in them and that was the tweak. I put them under the liner and wow what a difference. I didn't heat mold them I jut wear them every chance I get. lol I'm not an aggressive skater, still just learning and having fun. but soon. lol

    wow... "footbeds ...put them under the liner " under the boot or inside? did you remove the original insoles from the boot?

  • @DavidBryanSmithmusic

    @DavidBryanSmithmusic

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@rubensmj Yes. I put them under the liner, inside the boot. The old footbed is just a flat piece of plastic so I just left it in there. They come with two heel shock absorbers that do a little. So the bottom of the liner molds to the footbed and give heel cup and arch support. I went with the orange superfoot liners with some padding for the toes as well. I put the blues in my outback 150s

    NIIICE! I've got the Aeon 72 and they're really nice. I find the toebox a little bit shallow but a few minutes with a hot air gun and thick socks fixed them right up. Can't wait to see you hit the streets in them once the snow melts! the 72's do bottom out a bit easy, you made a good choice getting the 80's. that grind plate though, not a lot of room for error there.

    Bill, really happy to hear about this on two counts. When I saw you in Philly I had been using my standard powerslide imperials, which are nice, but not a premium boot. Additionally, I hadn't been doing any aggressive skating. Since then, I've gotten a build based on the Carbon Team II's which I've since fallen in love with, and these are my first carbon boots and like you I've recently started getting into aggressive skating and try hitting the park nearby regularly. I got them from Inline Warehouse as with all of my skate related gear so far and I have been so pleased with them. It's awesome you're able to work with them now. Cheers.

    Those frames should measure up 265m, so a touch longer than a 4*84 and shorter than 4*90, but lower than a regular 4*80 (longer for larger sizes i think) - pretty much why i got them. was really enjoying my 4*80 pb setup but found it a bit twisty on ramps....shamefully i've yet to give em a proper thrashing in a park though, just city! i'd recommend em.

    really want to see you skating more parks. you should hit up some outdoor parks with pump tracks and more speed/flow oriented layouts. indoor wooden parks are too often purely trick based with quite simple "quarter pipe leading to box" layouts. also catching a park when its quiet/empty is key to enjoying them.

    I've just got the Aeon basic 60s. Love them in the skate park, but playing games etc indoors where I work is much harder on these than my 80s or 100s. Like you said, the powerslide/stop is tough. If you lean your foot too much you're on the boot... and that means sliiideeee! Good stuff Bill, maybe I'll try these skates some day as they could be a great inbetween aggressive and urban. Although the grind plate on those is tiny compared to mine.

    well how about that. i got a pair o those!! the secondary shock pad seemed like an afterthought, the ample forward flex made trotting down stairs very easy and the ride was surprisingly harsh (/reassuringly stiff) for city skating...at least at first. bloody good though. nice and light too. oh and the 45 buckle seems way flimsier than the one on my imperials, but functions well enough...

    Very cool, Bill! At 37, I've decided I'm not quite broken enough yet, and I bought a pair of Aeon60s to learn aggressive from scratch after about 2 years of urban/freestyle skating. The Aeon is an amazing boot. I found the liners on the basic 60 to be a bit lacking in forward-flex support - my ankles are kinda wrecked and need a good stiff tongue I can lean my shins into into without hyper-dorsiflexing my ankles (My Unnaturals do this very well, but that's my bigwheel setup) - I found that replacing them with Reign V3-Vcut liners were a huge improvement in that regard, and the way the v-cut of the cuff matches the cuff of the Aeon is like it was made specifically for it. I recently also bought a pair of FR1 Deluxe skates, and had to try out the Intuition liners in my Aeons, but I decided I actually liked the Reigns better in my Aeons anyway. Yeah, that single-piece lower means lower ride heights than even many 165mm setups, and better power transfer. I really like the Aeon, both in concept (a no-compromises approach to making the best flat setup out there), and execution. I was considering about the Aeon 80, but decided that since this was pretty much going to be a pure park setup, that the smaller wheels and bigger grind block would be better to learn on. Still gonna be harder than on an anti-rocker setup, probably, though. Man I wish I had an indoor park closer than an hour's drive away... There's the Woodward in Tahoe, but that's like $50/3hr session, and they're closed on my days off...

    Damnit, Aeon 80 never crossed my mind, but now that I think about it, if anyone can make the most out of those skates it should be you. Not a lot of people skate those, most aggressive skaters tend to find the frame non grindable, and street skaters don't even look at a >200€, one piece aggressive skate. I'd love to try them out. Big wheel aggressive reminds me of what we used to do on the first half of the 90's, when skating was still actually part of the equation...

I'm curious because I bike everywhere but some place I'm gonna start working might not let me leave my bike inside so I'm wondering what might be the next fastest, cheapest, and most fun option.
