They did such an incredible job making Vhagar seem like an elderly grandma whose tired of these youngster's BS.

She was Visenya’s dragon sister. She gave her the skies and the seven kingdoms. Then Meraxes died. And Visenya died. And Belarion died. And Laena begged to die by dragon fire rather then go out like … yeah… In the wild, untamed dragons live for thousands of years. Humans stress them out and shorten their lifespan. They lose too many friends. After 170 years Vhagar feels like an old dragon

Daemon in the show kills his wife in the Vale for selfish reasons, he doesn't give a sht about his children, he ordered the death of a 6 yr old kid who had nothing to do with the war.. under his orders he had murdered hundreds of innocents in the riverlands

1:17 I was impressed by Aemond's bravery in mounting Vhagar despite his behavior towards his nephews and cousins. Seeing a ten-year-old boy claim Westeros's most significant and oldest dragon was remarkable.

I love how Aemond very brave. He deserved Vhagar.

All that lesson in High Valyrian paid off for Aemond

Leo Ashton really nailed it as Aemond! I love his commanding voice and vibe in this scene!

Vhagar's sheer size just goes beyond the pale. We thought Drogon was impressive all the way back in Game of Thrones and then we see that compared to this leviathan, he was literally small fry. And even with this, Vhagar is still smaller than Balerion was when he died so she still had some growing to do.

@@wonwor3610 Well, Martin Drogon is still small, his gigantism in the series is a convention that the writers went to. Secondly, even the serial Drogon is about two to three times smaller than Vhagar, you can simply compare their models, there are enough comparisons.

The directors light Vhagar like she’s goddamn Godzilla and that really works. Only difference is Godzilla would never take orders from dumb humans, or participate in their stupid human squabbles. That’s why Godzilla lives and none of the Targaryen dragons will survive this show

Drogon still is. Remember, by the end of the series, he's like 10 years old. Vhagar, by the time of the Dance of Dragons, is like, 180 years old. Dragons are basically super crocodiles. They just keep growing throughout their entire lifespan. Balerion, the largest and oldest of the original Targaryen dragons was significantly larger than Vhagar, but she would eventually grow to be nearly his size by the time she died. Give Drogon another century and he'd be huge too.

Now when I watch this scene on Blu-ray, I always turn off the light so I can see better. But here, this video makes it more clear.

I like to think that Vhagar let him ride her as a test. He could say "Dohaeras" all he wanted, but if he couldn't survive a flight on her back, he wasn't worthy of being her rider.

Only a Targaryen gets that look from vhagar and doesn’t crap themselves but also doesn’t die…. While I love how this moment would change history forever. Aemond is described in the books literally as just the blood of the dragon and once he gets vhagar is just an absolute menace.

Vhagar was like " Young Man, what are you doing? Let Me Sleep!"

Daenerys’ imperviousness to fire was a show only invention. The only time she’s actually fire proof is when she does the blood magic ritual to hatch her dragons.

If I was Aemond, after claiming Vhaegar I'd turn her around and set High Tide castle on fire. _All of my enemies are gathered in one place_ They are probably still asleep and certainly are not close to their dragons. Burn the place down with all of them in it, Rhaenyra, her bastards Daemon, the Velaryons and King Viserys, all of them. Sure I'd lose grandpa Otto and Mummy dearest but you can't win a war without sacrifice. After they're all smouldering ash, fly to King's Landing and crown myself King. What they're gonna do, say no? I would be literally the only surviving Targaryen and if the realm had a problem, I'd burn a dozen castles and cities to bring them to heel. Game, Set and Match at minimal cost to myself. _It would be a masterstroke!_

And since u dont know they all have dragons caraxes would sense him coming 2 dragons vs one and caraxes does kill vhaegar so u die too

A lot of people commend this character for his "bravery" in mounting this dragon, but they're wrong. He's not brave here. He is a spoiled cowardly little boy who grasps at the first chance to have power. He's just another coward who stole from women.

He didn’t “steal” anything. You cannot “steal” a dragon. A dragon is not a slave or thing to be used like tool. A dragon must accept you if you wish to claim it, and Vhagar accepted Aemond.

Oh, I do not think he stole a dragon from anyone. There is no such order of candidates to claim a dragon. Vhagar was first ridden by Vysenya, whose bloodline died out with her son Maegor. Her second rider was Prince Baelon, the father of King Vyserys I, and grandfather of Rhaenyra, Aegon, and Aemond. However, her third dragon rider was Laena Valeryon, who does not even bear the name Targaryen. If we should follow the order like you just said, then I see that Aemond is the first candidate to claim Vhagar, since her first and her second riders were Targaryens and more directly related to him. All the Targaeryens have dragon eggs when they were born, so claiming a dragon that was once ridden by someone was never their first way of becoming a dragon rider, and there is no such things of "first candidates" or "second candidates" for claiming a dragon. Vhagar chose Aemond, and he is the rightful rider of her.
