Athens Elefthérios Venizélos International Airport was opened to the public in 2001 prior to which air services were handled by the Ellinikon airport. LGAV is a hub for Olympic Air, Aegean Airlines, Hellenic Imperial Airways and Fly Hellas. The airport handled 15.4 million passengers (9.8 million international and 5.6 million domestic) and 191,800 aircraft movements (ca 525 per day) in 2010 which makes it a medium-sized airport.
My opinion of the airport (overall good/very good):
Facilities in general/ambience - very good
Shopping - very good
Food - good
Security checks - improvement needed here, too slow at times
Toilets - clean
Connectivity with Athens - very good (metro rail)
Check-in: very good, no queues
Baggage claim: very good
Courtesy of staff: very good

Once again, I have to say that your videos are gorgeous! I love this one especially because it reminds me when I went to Greece, direct flight to Athens. It's so beautiful, especially when passing the mountain of marble....and because you can hear the flight attendant....and love it when you landed! You can actually hear and almost feel that rush when the landing gear touches down! How exciting it is to watch your video! Just wonderful! Thank you for sharing such beautiful images with the world!

exactly at this point of landing the plane has severe turbulences when approaching athens airport! i m so afraid every time!
