I wanted to say this from my heart. V2 is not the enemy. The enemy is the fact that Samson is not here. We don't know if something bad happened to him or if he left (probably not likely). We are hurt. We love Samson. We aren't going to stop loving him. Our hearts will heal. V2 (or whoever Gabby chooses) will help heal our hearts. Not sure why I wanted to say all of this but I hope my words can help someone else out there to cope with this pain.

Thank you, I appreciate your post and perspective. It is painful, and if Sammy doesn't return😧 and Gabrielle accepts V2bor any other new suitor I will be happy for her. She's the expert here. My heart aches for Sammy.

Well said. ❤ What I have learned from watching not only this nest, but also the SWFL nest of Harriet and M15 is that it can certainly pull at our heartstrings when something tragic happens, as well it should if we are caring human beings. But watching these amazing creatures has also taught me about having emotional balance, noticing their resilience after hardship and accepting what cannot be changed. I am always amazed by their strength and beauty. 💕🦅🦅💕

I feel like Gabby is still waiting for Samson 💞 From speaking with people present and on the ground when Harriet lost Ozzie... He was gone 2 weeks, then found by a private resident. He was septic from injuries and didn't survive. Harriet waited a few weeks before she decided on M15 being her mate. They're an AMAZING pair. However, I will never forget the video of Harriet calling for Ozzie in the nest tree. If Samson is gone for good, I hope these 2 can make it. But, Samson took the Hamlet with him. It won't be the same, until it's a new normal.

I've never seen the Harriet video, but I have heard anyone that has say they will never forget it :( I hope the same for Gabrielle and I do hope there is a new normal that we can all accept.

@Matrix Harriet waited a very long time in 2015 for Ozzy, many many weeks. She was clearly so sad. And now, today, M15 is desperately searching and calling for Harriet. Totally heartbreaking to see history repeat itself. 💔

I can't stop watching, because I'm so hoping our Beloved Samson will come home. Now I'm worried if he does, I sure don't want to see any Battles or Injuries take place. I keep going back and forth about it all, and usually have one of my tabs open on my desktop listening for any signs...sigh. This new guy seems nice enough and I like him alright, but nothing is like Samson. If Gabrielle accepts him, I know I will too, but just not yet I guess.

It's been a really sad time for many of us that have fallen in love with Samson & Gabrielle! It's impossible for me not to, especially if you know the history of this nest. I watched parts of the last season with Romeo & Juliet, and Samson back then, gave us all a way of healing from that perilous time. I couldn't watch at first, but then I embraced the newly formed couple with a little time. Now this... :(

He's a very young eagle, most likely just over 5 years old, so he would look younger.

Even though we are all a bit heartbroken over Samson, isn’t it wonderful that another male has appeared and has interest in Gabby? This is nature at its best. I’m appreciative that a handsome, healthy male has appeared so soon. Let’s see what Gabby chooses to do with his presence. ❤ Question: Does anyone know or can estimate the age of this male? Also, does anyone know Gabby’s age approximation? Thanks in advance.

Age estimates, if the male's coloring is an indication of his immaturity, he could be close to 5 yo. As for Gabrielle, I believe she is around 8 years old. This is S&G's 4th Season and age estimates were approx. 5 years old for each of them when they first started out.

V2 looks to be a sub-adult coming into full adulthood. That could explain his feathers looking the way they do. Jackie and Shadow at Big Bear had a similar beginning a couple years ago.

I am still in shock that Samson has disappeared but I am glad that Gabby will have company. Sterling seems very sweet and kind and treats Gabby well. That is important. He was not too aggressive with her as if he understood the situation. I still wonder if Samson is alive and maybe injured and brought to a wildlife center and they don’t know it is him. Also if Gabby has eggs will they be from Samson or Sterling? What is the time interval for laying eggs? Also wonder where Romeo and Juliet went and would they be recognized. Also wonder why Samson was the only offspring to return to the nest. Hope this couple remain safe and Sterling is a good protector and provider. Gabby will be depending on him and he is inexperienced. Also hope if Samson comes back that this becomes a trio nest and no eagles are hurt.

@@deannacoleman913 His coloring may be due to his age, maybe he is young and has not yet turned completely white yet. His tail is the same way. I think his eyes are really highlighted nicely with the darker color around them. It is a mystery that we may never get an answer to. I wonder too, if on Thanksgiving Day that mud on Samson or whatever it was has anything to do with it too? I have seen Gabby with a full crop several times. I think she is eating well. All we can do is pray and watch it seems

Yes, they do. If you watch eaglets, early on they start moving sticks and nesting materials around the nest. As they get older, I have seen them bring sticks to the nest. Must be from watching their parents I suppose.

My heart aches for Samson 😞. But what's happening with these two is Hopeful. I really like this new fella. I am not of the belief that that's dirt on him. I think it's his natural feathers. At the peak of changing over to white (on his head n neck, anyway). He's got instinct. I want to see him bring food n materials to the nest. I'm rooting for these two precious raptors ❤️🦅❤️

Is the dark color on his head his natural color or is just dirty?

Most chatters are saying they think it's natural. His tail is like that too, maybe because he is young and his feathers have not fully turned white.

Google the changes eagles go through as they age and you will see what happens with their head feathers. His feathers seems to be genetics. I don't believe it's dirt.

@@The073156 l don't either. There's just so many mosquitos around that my chickens are dust bathing a lot. I wouldn't be surprised if he does the same. The Pepe/Muhlady camera actually turned off the nest camera's IR because it was attracting bugs at night.

It's not Sampson otherwise Gabrielle would not have been calling for him as she did. I'm sorry for her loss, but this new male (love the name, make it official) is tolerant of the nips she has been giving him. I'm waiting for nesting materials and food to be brought. This will be a big test for them as a pair. Hoping all goes well and they can get on with business.

Is V2 the same eagle that came last week and Gabby kept scooting him off the nest or is this another one?
