The bane of this excellent weapon, cocking it so you can insert a mag. The solution, I made what I'm calling a "bolt strap." A fancy name for a repurposed nylon dog collar. I slipped the collar through a 4" piece of PVC tubing. This functions as the handle. (You can just used the collar by itself. I happened to have the PVC piece handy.) Procedure: Put the AEA with the barrel downward so that the airgun was resting against a sofa pillow. I slipped the opposite end of the collar over the AEA bolt. Keeping inward pressure so the collar doesn't slide off the bolt, I EASILY cocked the bolt AND effortlessly held it open while I loaded the mag. P.S. I suggest the dog collar because it is the perfect size for this function. Bonus Tip: If you just use the collar by itself, you can grip it by the clasp, attachments, and buckle. That's the stiffer reinforced part of the collar and functions fine as a handle/grip. Or you can simply build up tape to where it forms a handle.

Those JSB pellets are AEA-approved for this airgun. In fact, AEA sells these on its website, in the "Ammo" section. Warning: Regarding shooting those cool Predator Polymag Pellets, those CANNOT be used in any AEA magazine. AEA sells those, but only for its single-shot bolt action breech loaders. Here's what AEA says on its website: "IMPORTANT: Polymag pellets in .30 caliber do not fit inside a magazine. They are meant to be loaded directly into the chamber. Airguns that fire directly from the magazine cannot use these pellets." P.S. The issue is the Polymag's pointed polymer tip. It juts out of the AEA magazine chambers. I have seen guys that want to use those rounds file down the tip until it fits. That would seem to significantly compromise the round's design and function, but to each their own.

On this sight he has a 342, five stars rating, which is rarely achieved on AMZN.

Regarding the one mag, I got two and AEA's website says: Inside the box: x1 Airgun x1 Fill probe x2 Magazines User manual So I think you got shorted! Probably fell out of the box when Fox was testing it to make sure everything was in order. (Did you check under the foam? Easy for those little mags to slide under.) Bonus Tip: AEA says: "Note: Magazines have a limited life based on their use, and for that reason, they are not covered under warranty. It's good to know that magazines are relatively inexpensive." Worried about some day mags become hard to come by, I bought 8 of em from The Pellet Shop, at $19 each. AEA wants a whopping €37 for them. Note: AEA also sells a metal mag. Perhaps a metal mag lasts a lot longer. But those are €47 each. No thank you.

I'm not sure if I'd have 100% confidence in AEA guns for home defense. The valve pins are a major weak spot in design. Unless you've got a friendly intruder, that'll give you 5 minutes to replace it. 😆 That being said, AEA is an excellent option for a budget friendly backyard plinker or small game hunting.

Have had mine for roughly 2yrs. I've taken coyotes, deer and countless rabbits. Have had it out in the rain, etc and has never failed. Only use .44 grain JSBs and shoot this thing literally about 3/4 times a week every week since I purchased it. Is the perfect backpack tool, and as a matter fact when hunting, I carry a 90cu inch buddy bottle along with this gun and the load isn't bad at all. Flashlight/ laser combo, blackarts ring, S2Delta sling, bottle clamp w UTG bi-pod and a 2.5- 10x40 IR scope and a Donny Tanto is my setup and it works flawlessly. Granted it's a definitely a pistol with its 10in barrel but I keep it on full power and have taken game at 60yds with this beast. Retired combat here so I would always go to my Glock 17 or 1911 for defense but if this is all you have or can get to at the moment it will definitely do the job with proper shot placement. Best wishes. ✌🏾
