Thank you for this video. I'm starting Nightingale this fall 2023 and I needed to hear from someone who actually went through with their BSN program. I feel a bit comfortable now.

I absolutely love having a great relationship with the nurses on my floor as a patient care tech! I really think that can make or break your shift.

Great video. I had to laugh though when you said Cs get degrees. Not in my program! We need a B+ to pass our classes 😬

Yeah I dont think so..in my program a C is failing. We are encouraged to get the highest grades and our NCLEX passing rates are 100%. So I am glad that our instructors are tough on us, not only with our grades but also in clinical, patient safety is our top priority and organization is huge.

This couldn’t have come at a more perfect time. I just was reaccepted into nursing school after leaving due to health issues. I am so scared to go back to clinical after 6 months working as an LPN in a doctors office

Great video. My pet peeve is students just standing around. Just get in the mix and start doing stuff. You'll learn so much and get to do many procedures, especially when the nurses see your work ethic. Besides when it comes time for a job and they remember you and your work ethic versus a student who stood around or was too good to handle even a bath....who do you think will get the recommendations from the people on the floor for the job..🤷‍♂️

Haha as a nursing student idk how that is even possible! I am so busy with patient care the entire time I am on the floor LOL! I will be so gross and sweaty just running around doing everything I can and trying to fit it into the little window of time we actually get on the floor! Blows my mind every time I hear this, which is unfortunately too often.

But how do you not stand around, when nurses themselves tell you to watch and do nothing and that you are in your first clinical

So I’ve started my 3rd semester in the ADN program. It’s my second Profession as a 43 year old massage therapist. I’ve been licensed for 22 years. I plan on going forward after I graduate to my advanced degree. No matter where that be.

Man. I felt bad because I got a C in statistics. Hardest C I ever worked for. I got a B in nursing research and evidence based practice because I turned in a paper late. That was my fault. Barely passed clinical because of handing in an assignment late, time and attendance. That whole semester was horrible. I had a heavy course load, but the situation I was in, I didn't really have much of a choice. I would plan much better if I had it to do again. But I'm glad I don't have to do it again. I passed. Thank you God! I learned something.

Hi Ashley, I love this collab! Just a quick question when doing head-to-toe assessments is it necessary to use the pen light to check for PERRLA for all patients? We learned in nursing school to do the full everything for every patient but in practice it seems that the nurses only do what is relevant. Im just wondering your thoughts?

Hello! I have a question. How would you recommend coping with a stressful household (i.e. mother, father, brother, etc.) while attending college for the R.N. Program? What type of coping mechanisms would you recommend? Would the best option be to leave the toxic environment and what to do if that isn’t a possibility at that point in time? Thanks a bunch! 🙏🏻

Question: I am planning on going into nursing school and my children are my motivation. Is it wrong to use them in questions for the school? Example: Both my daughters have been in the NICU. They both have asthma, low muscle tone, asthma, and my eldest has metal disabilities.

Everyone has their own personal reasons! This (family member’s sickness) is usually a common reason why people want to go into the healthcare field but what makes it special is that each person has a different experience with their or their family member’s illness! For example, I mentioned my uncle’s (who lived with me) illness as a reason for my inspiration.

Students wanting to help out and stepping up is great but it feels as though these talks need to be had with staff and floor nurses. Far too often students get their heads torn off for being too aggressive or not wanting the student touching their patients. This practice needs to stop. Especially at teaching hospitals where it is expected that students will be present. Again these talks are great but unless experienced staff nurses hear this the nonsense of nurses eating their young will continue. In the professional world eating their young is cause for termination at most business and is completely unprofessional

So on the topic where you guys talk about skills you learn in nursing school, being more important than just the tests you take. The other day my fiance was in the ER for a burst appendix and after surgery they moved him to a recovery room, and he was in excruciating abdominal pain for a the first few days, so we paged the nurse for pain meds, and she put us off for like over an hour or two, and I was really worried because my fiance was not doing well at all (p.s later we learned he had an infection) so we called her again, and she came in and yelled in our face "WE HAVE MORE IMPORTANT PATIENTS THAT NEED MORE HELP RIGHT NOW, I HEARD YOU THE FIRST TIME" and me and my fiance just looked at each other like.... is this a normal nurse thing? I tried to understand her being pressed for time. Just wanted to ask other nurses for clarity.

Advice from nursing student to nursing instructor: At some point the student will also have a license. Be mindful of that fact if you're the type of instructor that likes to disrespect and attempt to intimidate your students. Nursing is a small world and you never know who might end up being your boss.

Cs get degrees is what the "do a little as possible" students at my school like to say. It's been quite amusing watching these students give SBAR and recommendations in front of everyone. lmao. don't be like them.
