I'm an introverted youtuber and struggled with energy in the beginning. I would film my videos twice in a row so that by the second time I was more comfortable in front of the camera and not as awkward. It definitely makes a difference.

I know what you mean. I have the same problem. -_- (channel from 2008's still sitting there. lol) It's hard when there are so many happy/energetic-seeming people in a lot of the videos we see. But being genuine is more important. I'm watching a video of yours right now and you have just the "right amount" of energy. :)

Mistakes u should not make : 1) making eye contact w the screen instead of the camera lens 2) spamming other people’s comments 3) confusing youtube titles/trashy titles 4) not being consistent 5) having weak/long intros 6) distracting background 7) bad audio, video, lighting (my fix- editing works wonders) 8) being low energy on camera (my fix- black coffee) 9) monetising too early 10) impatience

The most common problem I've noticed with new youtubers is they expect to get super popular real fast and when they don't they get frustrated and lose interest in posting videos and stop trying. Fact being known it does take work and dedication and patience to grow as well many can't deal with the haters and trolls so get discouraged but there is an easy solution to that called using the BLOCK option to keep those people from being active on your channel. I don't have a huge channel but it's consistent and my viewers are always supporting myself and my videos and when you are social and polite your numbers will grow so don't expect too much too fast but be patient and dedicated :)

Your channel is fantastic and love your home page it's very well set up and I checked out some of your videos and they are awesome and I don't see that you are doing anything wrong that would hinder your channel from gorwing. It's very important to communicate with other people that have channels of interest to you and my first year on youtube I spent it doing searches for other channels and videos that I was interested in based on reptiles and especially snakes so you have to expand yourself and show an interest in what other channel authors are doing and leave comments on theirs and people will click on your channel name and check you out and that's how you and your channel gets spread around so others find it :o) That's why tags on each video is so important so your videos will come up in searches people are doing for certain subject matter :)

Great advice guys thank you, I'm usually a very quite person so making a KZread channel really has forced me out of my comfort zone especially with the way I do my videos, things are far from perfect but will keep working hard to improve. Notes taken 📝👌🏼

Some KZreadrs... including me, Take sooooo long to get to the point of the video. And get distracted. This makes it harder on the person filming. And on the viewers. No one wants to see someone that takes sooo long.

great video,thanks alot, first thing i actually noticed is as soon as one guy is speaking the other person is noding his head in understanding or showing emosion the hole time instead of just sitting uncomfotably the hole time. I will keep that in mind, thanks

A big mistake I see (and I've made myself in the past) is not having your thoughts together ahead of time when filming. Not every video needs a script but you should still have an idea of how the video's going to go/the topics you're going to cover. Otherwise you'll have to put in a lot more work into editing and it can still come off rambly. Great video you guys!

Maggie Reid Yes! Thank you so much for posting that. I cannot even tell you how many KZreadrs I've walked away from because of this very thing, like a 20 min video that took 5 min to get past the intro, only to have 7 or 8 minutes of applicable content?? They've lost me now, that's for sure- and how many other current or potential subscribers? And if not now, they will in the future as higher standards are set and bring with them higher expectations. I'm sure your comment here is really going to benefit a lot of people who might not have come to that realization otherwise. Great post, Maggie! Thanks again!

Maggie! YES! I've been guilty of it too. Focusing on what I'm trying to share helps. I don't write scripts. But I will jot down the points I want to make. And I will practice them in the shower😳I only do 1 vid a week. So i usually have a few days practice getting my point across. And when I don't at least focus on specific points...I can really tell the difference in my video quality.

I agree. And, I sometimes fall victim to this. I am prone to falling in love with the sound of my voice and rambling a little. But, whenever I have a clear idea of what I wish to accomplish that day it is so much better. Wish you continued success Maggie!

Thanks guys for these very useful tips. You've got a sub. It made me realize mistake number 9 on my new channel. Just a beginner far away from monetization but ads play themselves on my videos. Need to find the settings where I can turn it off now.

I use to KZread on an old account and wasn’t serious about it but this video helped me know how to go about it

A mistake I see is LONG videos. If there isnt a quality reason for your video to be 15 min then don't make it 15 mins

@@AmberLovesMystery Thats why I stated " unless there is a reason for the video to be 15 mins long" Therefore true crime videos have a reason to be long. But a video about 5 tips or a makeup look/wig review dont need to be.

@@boosted7351 true but people know who they are already and they already have their audience so they have that priviledge. How ever a small youtuber that hasn't really built an audience yet shouldnt because their watch time will go down.

Yeah, when I watch videos with long intros and stuff I always skip them, so it's not like watch time is going up. Definitely if you're new, keep it short.

Great video guys, I know I can benefit from most if not all of these tips. To help people, I've created the following list: 1) 0:40 not looking into the camera lens 2) 1:15 spamming other people's comments 3) 1:48 bad or confusing titles 4) 2:34 being inconsistent 5) 3:32 weak intros 6) 4:27 distracting background 7) 4:51 bad Audio/Video/Lighting 8) 6:08 low energy 9) 7:01 monetizing too early 10) 7:42 impatience Also I would add my own : 11) unclear or misleading thumb-nails - they can make a lot of difference to which video viewers will click :-)
