You’d think over the last 40 years the experts could develop a form of hormone therapy for prostate cancer patients with few side effects.

My recurrence was confirmed at the beginning of 2024 and because I am 'lucky" enough to have stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer, I'm on both Lupron and Zytiga for an undetermined length of time. I am amazed that there's not much innovation that can take the place of ADT and its rather diabolical side effects. I also know that there are drugs for men that are castrate resistant, but they can be lifetime meds.

Wow. She’s right! This video wasn’t around when I was put on hormone therapy which was 5 years ago. I just uploaded a video called Lupron In Men. It tells what happened with me.

Hello, I just want to ask your opinion on Abiraterone acetate = Zytiga . This was recommended to my dad after he had TURP surgery for his prostate cancer. We are worried about the side effects of this drug. I hope I could get first hand insights.

Just completed 2 yrs of hormone therapy. Side effects for me were weight gain, brain fog, hot flushes, muscle loss, HOWEVER, muscle loss was counteracted by a good gym routine, 2 - 3 timess / week, calcium tablets for bone density, diet control for weight. I do feel better and fitter now. My advice is to get assistance from an exercise physiologist, dietician, physiotherapist as part of your treatment plan - you will feel better!

@@waynefoote3781 also, another side effect from the horemone therapy (zoladex) - though very rare I did get it - was a swelling of the spinal cord which caused "foot drop". 6 monthss after finishing the zoladex my foot has returned to about 80% movement, maybe more, and a good prognosis for full recovery but it ay take a year or more according to my neurologist. Other types of hormone may not produce the side effect but just check as I am not a doctor

Well, it's nice that you at least don't sweep the side effects under the rug which is what most urologists do. However, I want to know what percentage of men have each of these symptoms. I also want to know which of these side effects are permanent. And most important I want to know how effective androgen therapy is. In short how much more life do I get after radiation if I do ADT? AND please no generalizations. Give me the cold, hard data.

At 76 and a pacemaker I hsve no energy. Sweats can be day long not just flashes!!!! Heat in my chest that long really bothers my heart. I think I should stop lupron injections since my last test was a PSA of 0.45. I do need pain pills every four hours though. I could always take the whole bottle and go to an easy death.

Seems the side effects are greater than the actual help from these meds. My God I thought they’ve gotten better with meds when it came to prostate cancer. This is horrible. My great niece who just turned 34 is fighting breast cancer and she’s had breast removal, chemotherapy, and radiation. This has robbed her of so much being a mom and wife. I hate cancer and now I’m dealing with prostate cancer and all I’m getting from both surgery and radiation is horrible news. God help us.

@@robgerety I have to agree with you even though I am in a tizzy reading and listening to so much of folks feelings dealing with everything regarding prostate cancer. As my mom said to me, "Don't listen to others make your own decision." I'll know after meeting with a Radiologist and again the Surgeon. I just want to make sure I am making the right decision. Heck every known drug has side effects just listen to the commercials advertising meds.

@@tommy..980 Well I decided to go on ahead and do both the ADT and Radiation. I am having hot flashes but doing just fine. I'm still holding down my job in between treatments and also increased my workouts along with changing up my diet. So far so good. Thankfully my cancer didn't spread so I went against having the prostate removed and am glad with my decision. Treatment all of 15 or so minutes and I'm up and out! I'm praying for us all.
