CORRECTION: When I was doing research for this video, I tried to look into the difference between a roguelike and a rogue lite, but couldn't find anything that explained it clearly. I just ran across the definition completely by accident, and it turns out I mislabeled it. Adventures to Go! is a rouge-lite. According to the distinction I found between the two terms: "Roguelike means specifically no meta-progression, if you die you start over from scratch with no advantage. Roguelite means it has meta-progression, you die but keep something which you can use to make the next run easier." This distinction messes up a pretty significant part of the video when I bring up examples, so I'm going to categorize them properly. Roguelikes: Rogue Dragon Crystal Rogue-lites: Spelunky (just barely) Demon's Tier+ Loop Hero Cult of the Lamb Adventures to Go! Also, to give a further example, the Zombies Mode in Call of Duty Black Ops is also a roguelike because you lose all your progress when you die. Great editing and explanation of the whole genre! There's something special of this era of games. I like games that let you upgrade equipment as time goes on, makes it feel like you're really getting somewhere. Combat is surprisingly deep, I'm impressed. Nice and engaging commentary all throughout. Awesome video!

First game I played with procedural generated content was Dark Cloud. Kind of crazy how these rogue-likes have been under our noses without the proper moniker.

Would you believe this is the first time I learned what a "rougelike" is? You explained it perfectly and I have a higher appreciation for the genre now. "Going Under" is a great recent example of how far the genre has come!

Considering how little interest this game has, you've gone into quite a bit of detail on this title. I commend you! Looking forward to more vids from you. I've recently been getting into the PSP in a big way, seeing as titles are so damn cheap here in Japan. Found your channel at the perfect time!

Another effect of ambush/counterattack stance is that it also damages enemy AP if you have a tough enemy with decent amount of AP thats approaching you you can ambush the enemy, damage them and their AP that they are sitting ducks for their current and the next round giving you free hits without worrying about being hit by them

you know I noticed something like that at one point but I never made the connection fully. I'm glad to hear that mechanic is fleshed out completely.
