I really loved seeing all those CCC built structures. They look in great shape.

They were! It's a shame they don't get the use they should.

Beautiful little park. Thanks for the history lesson. Hate to see the structures not being used since they are in good condition.

Yeah, they were in great condition for their age. Glad you enjoyed the video.

Thanks for the nice presentation - I was raised about 8 miles North on PA-153 in the town of Penfield and am very familiar with both Elliott and Parker Dam State Parks. I have a recollection from the early fifties of a fire tower being located there, the elevation is right around 2000 feet and was well suited for one. At around the 00:20 mark in the video on the left side of the screen over your shoulder sits a light-colored vehicle. I think the fire tower stood in what is now that parking area.

We stayed there a few times when I was a teenager. My parents didn’t care for it, though. My sister and I didn’t like the fact that so few people were there and there wasn’t much opportunity for stuff we liked such as hanging out at the playground, making friends and pick up games of baseball or capture the flag. Instead, we would go to Parker Dam. But there, the cabins were so far removed from the campground that it was hard to intermingle with other guests. I guess we were just spoiled on good old Clear Creek where we had the best of all worlds. I’ve considered staying at S.B. Elliott during the elk rut but have often wondered if road noise from I80 can be heard at night. I live along Route 322 so I’m accustomed to road noise but prefer to leave it behind when I camp. It is nice to see that the CCC era structures are being maintained. Thanks for the video, Adam. They’re always appreciated.

Thanks! Parker Dam is definitely the better of these two parks, but I enjoyed S.B. Elliott for what it was. I love imagining what it would have looked like in its heyday.

Great stuff man! Haven’t made it up there yet but you did an excellent job showcasing the park, that shot of you by the pond was insanely cool, and the fishing with a cliff bar 😅 keep up the great work buddy you’re killing it !
