Episode 9 - Part 1: Obelisk
We set out with the intention of taking some more challenging routes & with plenty of varied roads & tracks, this day has been split into 3 which will be shared over the next 3 weeks. Leaving Bannockburn under a dense autumn fog, it doesn't take long to get above the clouds & find the side roads for our first destination. We get some amazing views looking back up the valley over the cloud bank as we cross the Hawksburn, ride up Earnscleugh Road through Alexandra & then tackle the climb up Symes Road into Kopuwai Reserve. Right at the top, we head first to the communications tower & the Obelisk, which is a standout on the top of Old Man Range.
