Vagrant Most of the game is just grinding and grinding for endgame stuff and classes, so pretty much.

@@VagrantVideos Yea one of the issues you forgot to mention is that some of the end game classes/items are so tedious that it promotes an unhealthy amount of botting. Like there's no puzzles or any tasks that make it interesting. It's just kill 5,000 of these enemies then once you're done with that do it again. Even the bosses you encounter are just hp sponges. Good review nonetheless.

@@fourstar5592 Exactly this! Also, these said bosses/monsters are all years upon years old. There's barely any new content; even the places you get these hard to get items are old areas. I honestly feel like a class like VHL is impossible to get, no one in this day and age will have the will or power to get through it 100% legit because it would take you anywhere from 6 months up to a year to attain and there's barely any feeling of accomplishment, it's not as rewarding as it used to be (like for BLoD or Sepulchers armor), hence why I never bothered to get Legion Revenant and VHL. I've debated botting, but at the same time the game itself just isn't worth it to me anymore. I ocassionaly hop on to do an event or for nostalgia sake, but that's where it ends for me.

Well to be honest, the only thing that kept me going is some interesting storylines and the fact that this is one of my very first browser game. I don't bot but they did try to solve this issue by lowering the respawn cool down. This game really has changed a lot from where it came from. (by change I mean the environment of the game)

I remember playing this as a kid. We tried killing a dragon but we need to move outside to rest then go back again while at least 1 player is still alive lmaoooo. Now that I think about it, it sounded ridiculously fun. Ughhh, I wish I was just a kid again

I’m mostly playing it based on nostalgia and for the story. Personally, I can only play in short sessions ( or if I’m with friends, which hasn’t happened in 6 years or so, I’m the only player left of us) like you said in the video. It’s easier to play longer in the lower levels because you progress quickly, but leveling up becomes a bit tedious, I think I started playing shorter sessions around level 20 or so. The only reason I’d buy membership is if I wanted to support the game and get everything in game (I’d like both, but don’t have the will to spend 10 dollars a month at the moment, I don’t have enough money for that). But yeah, I don’t really care that it runs a bit slow, it’s mostly only slow in Battleon where’s there’s a lot of players. Turning down the graphics works really well too. Music would be nice, but I actually kinda like the battle sounds now, they’re nice. What would help the game I think, is releasing it on mobile. I get that there’s a lot of work to do, but many people have games on their phone and it’d be great to just do a quest or two while you’re waiting for the bus and stuff.

Instead of making the mobile version, they should focus on fixing and remaking the game. Tbh, private servers have more things to offer like trading and raid bosses than the actual game

Yeah i remember i got fed up of the original game and was addicted to the private servers. farm and farm and then the server goes down (cuz the host maybe went MIA) then find another private server and play with randoms again. it was fun. but note that ur account will always be temporary.

If you guys are all curious still aq2d and aqw data will transfer and they said specifically trading is a "MUST" they have been working alot on it according to there Twitter so let's up it refreshes the game in a new way with a whole new engine

Ahhh i still remember the good old days, i played this when i was 7, at that time i didn't know what to do and i only care about my looks in the game. Because of quarantine i went back and now im 15 yrs old lvl 89... currently farming for legion revenant

I have no fun at all playing this game, but the nostalgia and insane grinds are attractive to me so I can't stop playing it

11:23 I think the worst part about the membership is the sheer amount of stuff locked behind it. I remember when I was a kid and all the quests needed to get classes quickly was paywalled, so it took over a month of daily quests to get the pyromancer class.

Great comedic pacing here! The joke asides last just long enough to keep humor up while not detracting from the content. I've always liked the animation I adventure quest games. There's something about the movement that looks super clean even on flash with the chugging

this was such a throwback man, i played this game when i was like 10-11? I'm 23 now lol. I remember that when i got back from school i would always jump in this game, as i have a shitty computer at that time this game is the only mmorpg that i can afford to play. It was such a stupid game i you looked at it now but at that time for me, it was the best game ever with party system and all that stuff, man such a nostalgic game

No matter how old this game is and with all of its flaws I still love it, the insanely amount of choices it gives for the player to create the perfect desired character is crazy along with a ton of different classes to choose from and a great story and yes, of course, the game has many flaws and some limited choices such as damage boost weapons that you need to have and some XP boosting armors and the lags and lack of music you mentioned it is still an amazing game for me that has helped me with anxiety when I was young and helped me to dive deep into a different world with a ton of fantastic and supportive people, now that I have matured it still keeps a warm place within my heart and seeing someone review it made me really happy. I am currently writing comics that I am very dedicated to and the game actually helped me come up with some characters that other people have created as well as some that I have made myself I really look forward to one day becoming a great writer and inspiring some people and help them as well get into a different world where they can be happy and create a community out of it. Also best of luck to you with growing on youtube it is crazy how you still have the dedication to answer and read all comments, you're a great youtube and best of luck to you

@@VagrantVideos The community is the sole reason AE stays afloat, they’re behind the times when it comes to developing games and I personally believe a large reason for AQW’s decline was lack of marketing and advertisement, but the real nail in the coffin was when they started working on AQ3D. Many in the community jumped ship, because we knew they’d sink their talent and time into the 00’s style WoW Parody that is AQ3D.

I came back to this game some ago for old days Im 22 now when i started this game was prob 12-13 years ago, i remmeber playing it all of my mates But most of them are offline, even i still play , i love cutsense like a from a comic book, but the problem with the game Its really grindy to get item or quest can be really drained sometimes Becasue you do the same thing over and over again, but glad you took time to review my childhood game!

I played this a lot back in 2008-2012. Heck, I even somehow played it during the closed-beta. The level cap was something like 30-35 back then, and gear had its' own particular stats (over the current system which has you build the gear's stats from what I understand.) I'm pretty confident in saying that AQW from back then was drastically different. I kinda wish there was a private server for the older revisions of the game just so I could figure out exactly what has changed.

Swear I used to read it as Gravel-lynn... eventually, after playing WOW for a while (and learning about sepulchers by playing Death Knights) I finally got that it's Grave•lyn.

I am still playing it and started posting some vids. It has somewhat active community both in game and on Discord, so if you played before and want to come back, you won't face much difficulties.

I keep coming back to this game because of nostalgia. I still dont fully understand the game because yes it is simple but it's also complex in a way imo. Theres alot a grinding and yes there should be grinding but maybe make it easier in some way.

@@VagrantVideos true but like you said in this video the grind is just kill enemies hope for a drop and repeat. And with the nature of this game on how bad it runs, it causes inconsistencies which ruins the fun for me at least. If I had the right equipment I'll play other mmos because I do enjoy grinding. I grind for mastery camos in COD and even though it's not a long grind like mmo it's still a month-2month grind. If you have any mmo suggestions for new players I'll be happy to hear and play them.

idk about this game, but i played DUngeon Blitz way back and found out it's over so i looked for similar games now and see this but the LAG part in DB was from disabled "Hardware acceleration" in google chrome, im guessing same would go with this game

Personally, i mostly play for the completions of the stories, like an interactive comic book

For the part that even if this game is old and you're lagging, it just because Flash work only with individual processor cores. Even if you have the best pc in the world, if you have cores that are not ultra powerfull, the game lag. If I remember correctly, the game use only one core (and the game is limited to 30 fps). But because Flash doesn't exist anymore, they just transfer the ''Flash Data'' to their Artix Launcher and trying to now make the game work on 60 fps and work from the graphic card etc.

My 10 years old account got deleted. Man i'll miss my old character.

@@VagrantVideos My account was unable to login because it locked out from being gone too long so I had to wait a bit but after awhile I had an email to unlock my account from 2012 , not exactly deleted like what happened to you but you may be able to contact them & give your old info, they may have your account data stored!

So more info on this turns out aq2d the mobile port and aqworlds will be able to have data transfer soo all the cosmetics and classes are going to be in the new game if you have it on your character. why do you think it's taking so long transferring data over 12 years will take a long time especially with a small team and lower budget. Also they said specifically that trading is a "MUST" and that it's going to be implemented in the new game so theres some hope for the old fans you can check there Twitter if you dont believe me they claimed to be working hard and have screenshots of the UI and inventory and said mybe have an alpha version early next year. Idk about how early but it gives me hope again new engine new game new start with old items could be very fun again if it's done right

So uptade on more info, there is very early alpha, not public yet, but they plan to release it this year i think, requirement being u must purchase some membership for at least 10$ as a kickstarter. I guess the speed depends on interest of players . The trading doesnt seem to be MUST anymore , since as the time went on they pointed out more and more problems with it . Imho seems rather unlikely , but its possible , maybe depending on how much ppl spend money too. But if you dont play any other games like me , and manage to find the deeper pleasure in the game , which is not grind , but just talking to people and creating mini adventures, roleplaying or just visiting nostalgic places and reminiscing, it still a lot of fun. Those are more than enough for me , also the calm gameplay compared to most of the games gives nice atmosphere to relax. Also the small and helpfull comunity is a big plus for me 😊 which my mindset i still enjoy the development that AE is working on , and even tho it requires some patience , there seem to be enough people to still support the journey , so there are few nice years, and nights of gaming adventures infront of us 🤠

Vagrant Yep. Videos for bots for even the simplest of farms get hundreds of views. Heck, advertisements for bots sometimes leak into videos of new releases, and those become some of the most liked comments.

Probably cause the Grinding is way too tedious and its combat is boring and dull so why spend 100+ Hours while you can just use Grimoire or Cetera and go do anything you want

BingityBong Now, with the grinds I know of, they aren’t intended to be done in one sitting... so yes, it’s completely fine if you only do one to two quest turn ins then call it a day. No one’s saying you should sit around for hours trying to grind X in one sitting... it’s also fine if you only do a few minutes if that’s what you want. It doesn’t justify cheating. I do agree the combat needs improvement, like non-boss enemies that can use skills and all (plus a return of skill-using bosses)... but overall it’s nothing that ruins the experience. Just my opinion though... if the game’s really that bad for you, it’s probably best to completely drop the game rather than give yourself an unfair advantage and then force yourself to have nothing to do but sit and AFK in the end.

Im got so bored of the game and left for years after played like 10 years non stop not missing a single free badge. Then went back and got some hardcore items because it was easier (lile farming for nulgath house) and finally doong nsod. When there was the void aura boost (tbh i dodnt feel the grinding there, i didnt feel really that hardcore cuz the boost) but now im out again. I checked via curiosity the 12 year played badge its just a shop with an scythe? Amazing loooooo. Im actually asking here if there is more because im not entering the game to find out

It's doable, a s there are a few classes you can farm for as a non-member

Lol so we're just gonna gloss over how atrocious the combat is? Bosses are WAY to powerful and require you to either grind your life away to get damn near max lvl or grind your life away to get decent classes. There is no steady progression of power to prepare you for what you'll have to face within a reasonable time frame, you either are a husk of a person getting to end game power (or botted) or you have to assemble an army of near game players to stop being afk in yulgar's to come help you..

Sepulchure got his name when King Alteon called him a sepulcher (tomb), and that word is pronounced as "SE-pul-kur." So I'm guessing that's how his name is supposed to be pronounced. But at the same time, I've been saying "se-PUL-chure" ever since I was a kid and I don't feel like stopping that now

Most people playing this are just either afk on yulgar or botting and myself I do admit I use bot but I have another account where I wont ever use a bot and actually play it myself, the reason why I bot (and maybe lots of other people) is cuz the quests r so repetitive and hard to do (I mean it wouldn’t been fine as long it wasn’t repititive :/) I don’t entirely recommend botting unless u’ve actually played the game and try to finish the 13 lords of chaos saga or just not bot at all lmao

As someone that has been playing the game since 2009, i can simply call it wasted potential. This game used to get tens of thousands of players every day, and instead of evolving and making it even better they just decided to push out shitty weekly releases in hopes of the people staying

Yeah, it’s nowhere close to the old days. In the old days, you had to party up with people to deal with even the weaker HP sponge bosses efficiently (heck, Vasalkar the Red Dragon was a HP sponge), not to mention a lot of the major boss fights had mechanics that encouraged different class combinations and all. When classes started to be able to solo bosses with ease (looking at you, Necromancer), the partying up aspect kinda lost its meaning... really the only difference is that you kill bosses a bit faster... plus, some classes nowadays are obviously meant for soloing, and actually become weaker in parties to discourage cooperation. A lot of bosses nowadays are just the same thing: a HP sponge that hits a bit hard (really hard with recent updates, they’ve recently been going into the quadruple digits in terms of damage). No sign of mechanics at all, even with returning bosses that had mechanics before (*cough* Xiang *cough*). tl;dr the game has pretty much become a mostly single player game.

@@youtubehandlesstink they had to make bosses hit over 1000 damage because they created stupid classes that heal for 800 every second, or heal 3000 on a single skill and classes like archpaladin that reduce enemy damage by 70%... such a shame...

Take it from someone who has a lvl 100 character with legion revenant, arch fiend doomlord armor, and a necrotic sword of doom. This game is *not* worth your time if you’re looking for good gameplay or a good story. It is a dress up game with a shitty farming based mmo attached to it. The only reason anyone invests any time into getting late game items is purely for the flex, which doesn’t matter if there’s no one who will care about it. The game is dying, and honestly, it’s probably just better to let it go.

@@VagrantVideos I highly doubt they'll change anything too drastically. At its root, the game is a button mashing semi-idle dress up game. At most, the new engine will improve performance so you don't get 12 average fps while doing literally anything. Trying to fight a boss with more than 3 people in the room is damn near impossible due to the eventual slideshow you'll have to suffer through.

I grinded the hardest gear and classes in this game, i got the Necrotic Sword of Doom, Void Highlord, Legion Revenant and many more classes, is this a good game to play?, answer is.. you aren't gonna play the game, you use a bot instead, if not, there's better games to play out there, this game has some problems, the biggest one is the grind, remember the sword i mentioned earlier?, that took me a month to get, a whole month, the VHL and LR took me 12+ days, and thats with me using a third party program called Grimoire, it lets me play the game automatically without me doing anything, this game is so grindy and repetitive that people are forced to use a bot just so they dont hurt their fingers, this brings up the next problem which is the developers, one of the devs, 133spider has made a bot called "Le Bot", its basically just a third party program like i mentioned earlier, before 133spider became part of the dev team, Artix Entertainment decided to ban most of the botters, there were 20k people on average, the numbers left after that was 2000... 90% of the players was using bots, they decided to unban them but they lost all those players in the process getting only 5K players at BEST, 133spider is also the savior of this game as he makes the best changes that should have been made earlier, the devs have made false promises including the Server Rewrite, AQW Unity being "99% complete" in 2019.. its 2023 now, also the devs have a bad track record, bad player support, and alot of drama but thats a rabbithole you dont wanna get in, the third problem is the P2W, this isnt the "pay for power boost" kind of P2W but more of a convenience and "skip grind faster" kind of P2W, membership allows you to get alot of weapons, classes, quests and alot more, you can get an armor called SDKA which lets you do the grind faster for the NSoD, ACs are the premium currency of this game, allowing you to buy cosmetics, classes and most importantly the calender classes which are the most powerful classes in the game, they gave chances for you to get these but they stopped doing that in 2022/23, the fourth problem, this game is bad compared to other MMOs, this game is outdated, not immersive, grindy as hell, P2W and VERY confusing for new players, you can watch Josh Strife Hayes' video on this, he explains most of the problems in there, if you want to play this just remember that Grimoire will help you alot, or just play any other game

The game on its own is not that good. Kinda bland. The community there is amazing. And it's only game I still somehow manage to spend money on. Even if I log in once in a year. Nostalgia is a hard drug
