I've never watched AiN, and generally don't particularly like watching or playing D&D, but hearing everyone sing at the end made a very strong case for me to give this a shot.

Adventure is Nigh covers many memorable encounters, including - a magic talking door that challenges our "heroes" to TELL an unsolvable riddle - centaurs with miniguns - a siren who quizzes the people who cross her river on their sexual orientations and gender identities, because that makes her job easier - AND MORE!

Yahtzee never ceases to amaze with his writing talent. And, now, we can add singing to his list of skills!! 😂😆🤣

I remembered the song from last time I saw this and Sigmar say "Yeah because her son is in our party" but I forgot when Dabarella says "Hey thats a bad word" and it made me grin from ear to ear just like last time XD

Oh, man. SO HYPED for the return of AIN. When the team launched the new digs, I was willing to accept that I would never learn Mortimer's dark secret, but I'm real glad that story can continue.

Good gawd, you are right and with some of his inflected sarcasm. To me he also sounds a bit like Jonathan Frakes (Riker) from Star TREK TNG. only just discovered Frost from the video the other week but gosh could I just listen to the voice for ages.

My favorite part about DND is how arbitrary story beats can be. Hearing this recap and having experienced DND first hand in my very first DND campaign has clenched it for me. DND is a wacky good time for all.

Several months ago my offspring told me about Adventure is Nigh along with Roll20, Critical Role and others as things I might enjoy from the POV of an original version D&D player. We were both very happy to hear yesterday's announcement that you got back the rights to AiN. I generally don't have time to devote to podcasts, but I'm definitely checking out AiN and look forward to the promised remasters of the earlier seasons. Can we look forward to more musical numbers? Qapla'!

that's a great list! Might I also suggest Dimension 20? The show is divided in seasons, with each season being self contained (although there are a couple sequels) so it's a lot easier to jump in.

mind if i suggest you check out the OG - Acquisitions Inc, as well as their VTM game Seattle by Night (a lot more light-hearted and funny than the drama-heavy masterpiece sister series LA by Night)

I don't think you're alone in paying wider attention to this teams work after the switch! This series is the goat, just as much as ZP if not more; I started watching it only a few weeks before everyone left the Escapist and I hadn't laughed so hard in years, here's hoping its new home will finally get it the attention it deserves 🤞🏻

The second I saw you guys got the rights to continue this series... I have regained my hope... As Samwise once said... "There's good in this world... And it's worth fighting for!"

The narration is done by Frost, writer and talking man behind Cold Take. The lyrics and song were Yahtzee's idea. I don't think I need to explain who Yahtzee is, suffice it to say he's a legend.

OMG the flashbacks! Also Celia Jam, when is that on sale? Also I hope the sound doesn't get cut out on this one XD I still have the old one from escapist that from intro of characters to start of season 2 doesn't have sound... still a mystery to me why the sound disappeared

I see Enthusiast Gaming (probably The Escapist?) and Gamurs get credited as executive producers in the credits - if that was a necessary part of bringing Adventure is Nigh to Second Wind, so be it.

So much yes.

I been playing RPGs since junior high. Started with MERP, didnt love it, moved on to D&D with the beginners Black Box (red dragon) and liked that a lot more. Moved up to the Rules Cyclopedia. Tried Twilight 2000, Shadowrun 2nd Edition, Rifts, Heroes Unlimited, Ninjas & Superspies, TMNT, GURPS, and a couple others I cant even remember. Not once have I ever had an adventure as good as this one. My life was a waste.

I didn't see that musical number coming. ¡Great!
