Quite nice set-up, with plenty of safety redundancy in mind! As a secondary means of propulsion I would recommend a small auxiliary outboard, completely independent, with an extension bracket at the back. Two-stroke would be much lighter but you'll have to carry a small canister of fuel & oil pre-mix - saved my boat and maybe my life twice in the past going slowly against the wind and tide in New Zealand, just enough to allow for damage control.

Excellent! Are on the coasts or great lakes? It is a great boat. The 60hp is overkill. 50 hp is all you need.

@@RestlessViking No Great Lakes here but pretty big Lake for Georgia. About an hour north of Atlanta. Believe it or not it's a challenging lake to get around in, with a smaller boat, because it's so crowded, with the larger boats. We have paddles too. But, they aren't very useful for anything more than a quarter of a mile and calm wind.

The Festiva would pull that. I used to pull a 16 foot Hobie cat with my Festiva, which I believe weighed about the same.

Small electric trolling motor for backup? I’m planning on getting one for my 25’ Cuddy cabin that only has a single I/O unit. I also have a solar panel backup to charge my batteries.

Great video! With your one way stoppers, do you still put the main plugs in or do you only utilize these stoppers when you are trying to get water out by removing the plugs and getting up in plane?

I usually just leave them out. However, they will begin to leak one day (after a few years - if fact, I just replaced them because one started leaking). When they do start leaking, then I put the plugs in when docked, anchored, etc.

Unfortunately with a soft bottom, it’s kind of like pushing a ballon, pretty slow. But, plenty of power for rough seas and storms.

Yeah. I would recommend getting a back up propeller with tools. I very recently just destroyed my propeller out on North Manitou island and had to get towed. Sad day

This console is directly from Zodiac, we got ours through a Zodiac dealer in Michigan.

Not sure if anyone is still following this video post, but I am curious what you have calculated for MPG or Hours Per Gallon from that 60hp Yamaha. Thanks in advance.

It depends on conditions, but in good seas, about 4-5 mpg.

@@jerryhauth2946 It gets great gas mileage around 30-35 RPM. I've never calculated GPH as speed varies greatly with conditions. It is a great boat and will be even better on the ocean. I have two 6 gallon tanks and have traveled at least 70 miles with plenty to spare. My old 2 cycle 30 hp would have gotten about 2 mpg.

@@jerryhauth2946 Yes sir, my Mark III is. I know zodiac made some Hypalon Mark models, but I think those were just Mark I's. Doesn't Zodiac call it "Strongan" PVC or something like that?

Does zodiac sell the console?

Yes they do. Dealers can be hard to find though. That is a standard console. It is quite low in the Futura, so it was lifted about 3.5 inches on Thor.

@@jcBurton2094 Kind of (Barely). . . It is at the lowest extent of my arms (6 ft tall). When I stand, I tend to be a little hunched over. I can stand straight and steer, but if I turn hard, I have to hunch over. At 3.5 inches, it does raise it far above the legs. Otherwise, my knees would be high enough to interfere with steering. It is much more comfortable at that height.
