Great info. I was wondering when you were coming out with your own old school swim jig. Your jigs are the best jigs I ever used. The living rubber makes all the difference. Love the new channel .

Legend has it the swim jig was discovered by accident by a pro bass angler from Wisconsin in the mid 70s.When he was getting bites while reeling in faster to make another cast.

Fished a tournament last September and was the first time I used a swimjig and caught fish on it and it got me in the money...I've had a couple swimjigs in the box for a couple years but didn't have any confidence in them and never caught a fish on it till the tournament but I caught 30-40 fish that day on it because the fish were so pressured and it was something different and subtle

Robbin Thompson is the best Swim Jig fisherman in Alabama. I learned everything from him. When I fish with him, he consistently whips me with his Swim Jigs no matter what I fish. You and Robbin are on the same page with Swim Jigs Randy. I need to fish them more often.

We caught them swimming a jig way back in the 70's, theres a 30min fishing show called the fallcity fisherman and jerry mckinnis was the host and he had me as a guest and i showed him how a just won a b.a.s.s. at eufala So Randy you invented swimming a jig is crazy.

You ask 20 different pros about fishing Swimjigs and you’ll get 20 different answers and no one is right or wrong they just fish differently. I fish Swimjigs in Florida and use them 365 days a year and I use a 7’4 mh with straight braid or braid to flourocarbon leader. For my clients I give them a 7’4 heavy with straight braid

I fish a highly pressured, dirty lake with lots of standing timber. My favorite swim jig is a 60° Arky head with a hand tied Okeechobee craw skirt, but the blue is tinsel. The tinsel just adds enough flash to add an attractant but not be off-putting to the point to deture the pressured fish.

Hey Randy... great video! I have to say... the Megabass Uoze swim jig is amazing. The lure literally caught me first, as I looked at it and thought: wow what a great looking lure!! :-) But this swim jig is money... I use a bluegill pattern with green pumpkin zako... and have only caught big fish with it. It is one of my go to lures for sure... no matter what season. Thanks for the information on the white swim jig for fall though. I'll try that out tomorrow! :-D. Have good one!

I agree with what all you said. But swim jigs are kinda my thing and I believe a straight retrieve with a paddle tail can work marvelous. If you properly trim the skirt with a paddle tail then you get secondary action from the skirt and it just looks alive. I also don't use braid or a heavy action rod I use a 7'3" medium heavy fast. I can make very accurate casts flips and pitches with my swim jig and it also has enough give to keep the fish buttoned up. I only use between 14 and 17 lb Flouro with my swim jigs. It's basically a finesse version of a ChatterBait or spinnerbait. But it's also very good for hand to hand combat style fishing.

This is not important but it always gets me when randy says "reproductable".

Randy... I noticed when you make your skirts for swim jigs or chatter baits, you put the short part of the skirt on the inside of the jig. I usually see premade jigs and spinnerbaits with the short end on the outside, overlapping the long strands. Why do you do it that way?

@@williamgould2470 It’s technic with a 1/16-3/16oz small jig w ith a trailer that has a lot of lift so you can fish it slow. Like slow to the point it is almost suspending from 1”-3”inches under the surface. And how you shake a swim jig with your rod tip high you keep that tip up but you lift it and reel down slow and steady. Think of it as a wave on the water like rollers. That’s spaced way out is the retrieve you looking for. but you bringing it up and you want the jig to stop before it starts going down slowly. Like it is just floating there that’s why you use a light jig and the trailer with a lot of lift and I fish it around grass lines where you have a point withe shade that almost meats up or is shaded a 1’ or so out past that grass line and keep the jig right there 4”-6” inches Inside the grass line. And the high % spots where the straight grass line cuts in or out. You can use the rod tip to turn that jig so it naturally fallows the grass and stop it and go as slow as you can around them spots. Holes in the grass I do the same thing over them and around points and cypress trees a few of the Z-Man plastic’s will suspend it right under the surface. I’m not the best spelling or typing so I hope you can read & understand what I’m saying if not let me know and I will have my wife or one of my kids type it up and post back for you 🙏🏼🙏🏼

You need to fine a good Crest liner boat then you will be set a19.5 footer will take 115 horse power an aluminum is light weight for speed.

I noticed before the cheat screen took over pro bass fishing tourneys, many pros constantly shook their rods while reeling.. gotta be tiring to do that all day

Even if there was a need to do something around the spawn and there might be on some lakes. There’s a lot of alternatives . Other than a complete ban on bass fishing.
