Advanced Level Basic Beam Overload Disruptor Build How To - Star Trek Online

Ойындар

This build video goes over an advanced level beam overload build. It is a culmination of all the things discussed in the Beginners Guild Series. Even though this is a Disruptor build, you can using any energy weapons type on it by simply changing just the energy weapons and tac consoles. The core of this build is extremely flexible and will serve you well across many different ships and builds in the STO universe.

    I'm really digging your STO education series. I started playing as a beta tester back in the Before Time but, after a few years, I started drifting away and the last real point where I played extensively was the Gamma Quadrant expansion. This game is pretty complex and I was never big into build crafting so these sort of videos help a lot.

    Thank you for the walkthrough. Your comment about an effective build across all energy can be done with the right consoles and all that needs to be done is change out the energy weapon type and related tactical consoles resonated with me as I have two ships with the same consoles. One is Tetryon on my legendary odyssey and the other is phaser on my Yamato Dreadnought. I can swap out the weapons and tactical consoles and still be effective. It took me a long time to accept that I don’t have to have a complete set of consoles as a three piece bonus for example may not give me the returns I want as opposed to it’s two piece offering. It’s the completist in me that had a hard time letting that go. Once I did my ship builds became much more effective. Your walkthrough only solidifies that I’m going in the right direction.

    Another reason the Kobayashi Maru is useful, especially with the "Strike From Shadows" trait, is that it draws a lot of threat and enemies will almost always target it, even while you're shooting them.

    my fav doff to use with my science ships are beam overload proc 360 beams and the skill as well as the doff that causes the enemies hit with beam overload to take 30% more damage. This combined with drain sickness and the traits/torps that reduce energy levels by 25% and the torps like the piezo torps/quantum entanglement torp they reduce the shields each hit as well, basically you debuff them to death continuously with every hit!

    I'm using a Bellum accelerator with hull healing at 26.1% on it. I use the DPRM also. I don't use the Zero point nor the disruptor induction coil console. I only run 2 chance consoles from the Spire. Some day I would like to see my DPS but as long as the enemy explodes fast enough I am not going to worry about it :)

    If I might make one humble suggestion; if you switch to an omni, consider the House Martok. If you replace the RCS accelerator with the House Martok Defensive Configuration, the 2-piece gives you +2.5% CrtH and the console gives you a little Hull boost. The downside is that you would lose a little turn rate. Just a suggestion and not one that's going to completely change your game.

    Should be noted that if you are fed and want the DPRM, its almost impossible at this point. You cant buy the console from the exchange, you need to either get it from the lockbox or buy the ship on exchange which as it stands is currently 1.1Billion EC. You can get it in an infinity prize pack but you would need to get a premium t6 ship choice reward from the event campaign which costs like 10,000 zen if you havent started it when the 5th part comes out. I dont know if its character bound, the only alternative would be a way to somehow move ec to a klingon account as its only 300mil - then transfer it over, however if its character bound then that is a waste.

    I think a lot of people have the same problem. There are just so many options. One thing that helps me is to do an internet search for the characteristics you want in the console and follow the link to the Wiki. It's not always correct, but the Wiki still has a wealth of information.

    this build is really helpful. I'm running a rom sci officer on a tx fleet d'deridex retrofit (my favourite ship in the series). I was wondering what your view of the nausicaan disruptor set is on this build. the torp does disruptor damage and the 3 piece set boosts disruptor damage by another 26.6% with a +50 hull pen. also, what about the martok omni beam and console into this fit?

  • @MCStu

    @MCStu

    Hi. I'm a solo flier, so don't have access to a fleet. Everyone seems to be using the Elite Fleet Intervention Protomatter Deflector Array, is there a non-fleet deflector array that you would recommend in place of this for a tactical energy or torp build. I am looking at the Counter-Command Deflector Array and the Omega Force Tachyon deflector. Thanks.

    Not much that's going to boost crit levels. Any other deflector I would slot would be primarily for set bonuses. Some examples: 4-piece Stamets-Tilly; good for both survival and dps output. Don't underestimate Mycelial Lightning or The Power of Math. 3-piece Sol Defense; all around good survival set. 4-piece Bajor Defense; DPS, debuffs and just enough survival to be a fantastic budget through intermediate set. Those are not all of the options. I just threw a couple out, off the top of my head.

  • @nolgroth

    @nolgroth

    3 жыл бұрын

    Are you referring to Cold-Hearted? The two traits are used in almost opposite circumstances. Strike From Shadows is used to reduce Threat while Cold-Hearted is commonly used in Tanking builds. As to which one is better, I would say that it depends. Cold-Hearted works when activating Pilot boff abilities or, more commonly Aux2Bat. It works best when paired with Controlled Countermeasures. You get a nice chunk of Target Resistance debuff, Target Slow and (with CC) a very nice Cat-2 damage boost. Strike From Shadows relies on the enemy not having you targeted. It works really well with AoE weapons because it can hit a lot of them at once. You get Bonus Damage, extra CrtH, Target is Placated and Threat is reduced. Personally, I would boils it down to DPS (Strike From Shadows) or Tank (Cold-Hearted). Of course, that is a very simplified way of looking at it.

  • @nolgroth

    @nolgroth

    3 жыл бұрын

    If I were to guess, I'd say that Stu wouldn't want a second torpedo in the build. To get the most out of the Nausicaan set, you need all three pieces. The extra CrtD from the Lorca set beats out the +50 Hull Pen and Cat-1 damage boost from the Nausicaan. That said, I would run it with the torp in the back and get both set bonuses. Also useful, under spread, for those annoying Hurq swarmers. But I don't build for the meta either.

  • @sleepysounds90

    @sleepysounds90

    @@nolgroth you'd just drop the lorca torp surely? A stacking critd buff upto 15% is great, but nothing on the bonuses youd get from the nausicaan set

  • @nolgroth

    @nolgroth

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@sleepysounds90 I wouldn't say that either one is that much better than the other. The ~53% (console + set) Cat-1 boost is nice and extra Hull Pen translates into bypassing an extra 5% enemy resistance. Those are certainly nothing to sneeze at. The Disruptor Net, if it procs, is also nice. But it has to proc. In the other corner you get a stacking crit severity. With that, in turn, adding to the larger Crit Severity amount, it's not something I would overlook. I'm assuming that the Lorca console is being used no matter which other way you go. Either way would probably be close to the same dps output. I might give a slight edge to the crit severity but either one would serve. Given a limited tac slot ship, I'd go Nausicaan over the Lorca torp. The Nausicaan set gives roughly 1.75 damage consoles worth of Cat-1 damage and whatever sources of Cat-2 and Crit Severity you have need a good foundation to build on.

  • @sleepysounds90

    @sleepysounds90

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@nolgroth great reply! I think its safe to disregard the disruptor net, it doesnt proc enough to worth taking into consideration. Id say that the extra dps from the cat1 buff combined with the eps boost tips the nausicaan set over the lorca set. On my bo boat, i run terran, nausicaan, nausicaan torp and the rest spiral wave. I used to run the lorca torp and still run the console. At the same time i switched a few boff powers around and all told i added roughly 25k to my dps. Not sure what made the biggest difference, but im pretty sure that nausicaan 3 piece helped more than the 2 piece. At the very least, if i was set on running the lorca torp, id consider the console from the nexus mission. The one with the big boost to eps (apologies, cant remember the name of it)
