@@theseangle Nothing to do with VFX. "The curb cut effect is the phenomenon of disability-friendly features being used and appreciated by a larger group than just the people they were designed for." -- Wikipedia. It refers to curb cuts, ern.. Sidewalk ramps, which were intended for people using wheelchairs but are useful for people using bikes, skateboards, baby strollers, shopping carts, hand trucks (two wheelers), wheelbarrows, and similar. @@TPDOP Various things with different levels of results. I use an app called Colorblind Assistant which is freeware, when running it has a little window that zooms into the area surrounding your cursor and gives pixel by pixel color data and a three word description. Windows has color profiles in it's accessibility options, although Im not sure they are great for design work as they can skew things. Hardware wise you can get various color readers. I guess the tech is the same as what they use to get unique paint colors mixed, they read a surface and give you color profiles. These can go mad expensive, I use a Nix device though. It is pretty cheap, accurate enough and is small and tough enough to hang off a set of keys so it is always at hand.

This helped me out so much because before this whenever I was color matching something I always had to ask someone else to look at it and then make edits. It's super awesome to see content like this. Also at the end when you cleared up those myths was great, I remember in elementary school all the kids would grab markers or crayons and they'll test me on what color they are. I am colorblind compositor as well. Glad to hear I am not the only one! When I started out I was told that I wouldn't be able to make it in the industry because my colors would always be off, but I have yet to run into major problems after a year of working. In Foundry's Nuke the process is fairly similar to AE, but it is a lot easier to check color values since you can control + click any pixel and it will tell you RGB numbers. After going through this process for a while you become more accustomed with how a color image is actually made and which RGB values attribute to which color which is actually kind of cool.

My friend first of all and this will be strange but, im glad to hear that your colorblind, as I am, and to be truth you're the first person in the video community that I "know" that's colorblind too, and to be truth that's amazing, I realized that I was colorblind when I was already on college, and when i actually discovered i thought leaving this path but somehow I ended up reading an article about some Portuguese Architect and he said "I love behind colorblind, no one sees the world like me", that was a turning point, from then I focused in trying to show to people how I see the world, and here I am a few years later trying to learn some new stuff about UE and found this video, you maybe won't read this, but for me that was the universe trying to say something to me! Thanks for all your videos, and btw this one is changed my color grading for life! thank you very much!

I would love to learn more about detailed texturing with all those little tricks, like creating dust and noise maps procedurally and just cool node trickery to add detail. I'm not colourblind, but this is really helpful!

WOW! I am not colour blind, I am the opposite of that, not only can i see all the numbers, I've taken other colour tests and its a lot before I can't see the difference. Not bragging, just amazed at the differences. One of my fav DOP's was colour blind and shot things with a more lighting value approach. I guess colour blind and VFX/art isn't like being a tone deaf singer.

Yeah it doesn’t hinder my work too much to be honest, even though i’m moderately color blind.
