Great video. But I have a question. When your hitting and your loading to hit the ball. Does it matter how high your back elbow is when you are going to swing or no

  • @UltimateBaseballTraining

I would say yes. Ideally you want your elbow to be about shoulder height. You don't want it to be much higher than that or lower than that because it can cause other swing problems, such as bat drag.

What’s the best way to read if a pitch is a curve. At my last game we faced a very good pitcher throwing really nice curves. I struck out looking. The pitch was heading right towards me. I stepped back and it went right into the strike zone. Is there a good way to identify a curve.

Focus on seeing the ball out of the pitcher's hand. Typically with a curveball, his fingers will be on the side of the baseball and the ball will immediately pop upwards out of his hand. With a fastball, his fingers will be on top and the ball will come in straight, not pop upwards out of his hand. Just keep practicing and have your coach mix in some breaking balls during BP!

My coach tells me that I'm off balance when I swing but when I try to swing balanced. My batspeed is way slower. Can you give me tips on hitting balanced but still maintain my batspeed?

  • @UltimateBaseballTraining

One of the biggest recommendations I can give is to focus on "keeping your head between your feet." You should have a controlled but violent swing. If you focus on keeping your head between your feet throughout your entire swing, you'll remain in perfect balance.

Hey coach Justin, I am currently a 6’1 3rd baseman. When I was younger I was a great hitter and fielder with usually a lot of base hits and RBIs with little errors. This year my average is less than the Mendoza line and I have 10 errors in 67 games. I have no idea where I went wrong. I play baseball 24/7. Please help.
