Love the feed back… I’m 33 and day 11 of my post op. Worst pain ever at least the 1st week, Now I see a light at the end of the tunnel. I lost 30 pounds not sure if anyone else has had major weight loss, I’m still working on trying to eat soft foods because I couldn’t eat anything the first 7days. Enough of me thanks for the videos

Hey Karen, I got my tonsillectomy on August 3rd, 2022 and watching your videos just gave me that push I needed and getting tonsillitis and having poor energy throughout the day sucks.Just seeing how much you got through it and everything was just something I needed to see for myself. thanks for sharing. I am on day 5 after surgery and it is really hellish. honestly it wouldn't be that bad but my uvula is so swollen and it hurts SO much to swallow most of the time. and it hurts way more on one side than the other. just hoping I can keep it going and things will get better soon, although it sounds like I have about a week more of this to go through.

Man I wish I scoured youtube when I was recovering. Your videos would have gave me so much peace hah. I'm just over 30 days into recovery. How long did the dry throat persist? Hi! For me the dry throat definitely lasted a while, probably a month and a half. Even now sometimes if I drink too much coffee and not enough water I feel like I’m just more aware of being dehydrated because the roof of my mouth by my uvula gets tight! But yes I’m also SO THANKFUL that they are gone

I am on day 9 and I am OVER it lol I won’t say that I’m not glad I did it because I had scarring in my throat, strep throat constantly, sore throat all the time, and ear infections frequently. My doctor said we did what was right, but dang am I hungry for something other than yogurt, popsicles and eggs. That is all I can eat so far. Mashed potatoes and mac & cheese is way too thick for me to manage. I’m so happy some of you guys did these videos because I feel sad and I want to feel better soon haha

You will!! I swear within the next 2-3 days you should feel good enough I have some mac and cheese! My number one tip is to SLEEP whenever you can. Your body heals best while sleeping. Also drink water nonstop if you can, I know it’s bland and tastes like nothing but it’ll help your body heal faster!! Just thought I'd share my experience for anyone nervous... I had a pretty easy recovery. I couldn't tolerate any of the heavy drugs, so I recovered using kid's liquid tylenol. I couldn't stop myself from coughing up mucus the first few days, which was scary but never caused any issues... I'm at exactly 3 weeks and am able to eat chips, popcorn, spicy foods, etc. I also started working out once I hit the 2 week mark, and have had no issues. Lifting weights and doing circuit training has been fine, but I definitely eased myself back into it for the first few days! Even a long walk would make my legs tired. I still haven't let myself sneeze and yawning hurts a little but other than that I'm back to normal! The worst part of the whole experience was my reaction to the pain meds. Good luck!

I've experienced most of the same symptoms and, coincidently, almost had the same exact timeline when you first got yours. It's a little over 2 years now and my ENT is still trying a few things before he considers surgery, but if it doesn't work by the end of the month, I am going to get them out. Did you experience headaches and neck pain before you had them out? That has been my biggest complaint. I can deal with stones but I have had constant throbbing headaches for almost 2 years now and an extreme stiff neck. I'm curious if you had any of those symptoms. Thanks for the video!

  • @karenemilyh

Yes! I had headaches which we learned was from ear pain. My tonsils were so enflamed that they were pressing on my ears from the inside. Your tonsils and ears also share a nerve apparently so that caused some headaches and pressure mostly!

Straws cause negative pressure (vacuum or suction effect) that can interfere with the healing process. They can dislodge blood clots & prolong the healing process and cause you to bleed, which is why it’s not advisable to use them:) it’s the same concept for wisdom teeth removal:)

I’m sick of jello and applesauce and I just want something solid in my stomach but every time I try to eat something else like mashed potatoes or Mac and cheese I just get two or three bites in and then the pain hits and I give up. The worst part for me is not even the throat ache but the ear pain. Holy shit ear pain is a whole other level. I would scream every time I got an ear pain and immediately get a painkiller. When did those stop?

@@karenemilyh thanks for all your tips! Looks like I need to get a few things before my surgery coming up. Great idea about that ice pack. I definitely wish I had one like that when I had my wisdom teeth out.

My scabs just started falling off two days ago. The scabs coming off doesn’t necessarily hurt but I noticed I had a lot of thick mucus and my throat felt really raw afterwards.

Girl thank you for including the crunchy food part in the vid because I’m at 2 weeks and 2 days after surgery I have pain when I yawn still but it looks good when I open my mouth and see what’s going on. But yeah I was like should I eat Cheeto puffs ?? They’re soft but also I don’t wanna do anything to mess with the site
