Adrian Rogers: When God Says No (2134)

Adrian Rogers: When God Says No (2134)
Sermon Overview
Scripture Reference: James 4: 1-4
Prayer is the Christian’s greatest privilege, and it is often our greatest failure. There’s no substitute for prayer. That is why it is crucial that we know how to pray.
In James 4, we are told of two major problems concerning prayer:
The problem of unasked prayer. “You have not because you’ve asked not.”
The problem of unanswered prayer. “You ask and receive not.”
God’s response to our prayers may be direct, different, delayed or denied. Sometimes, the answer is no. But why does God say no?
We must remember this about prayer: We are to pray in Jesus’ name, with His approval, for His acclaim, with His authority, in the Spirit, in the will of God.
Adrian Rogers says, “The prayer that gets to Heaven is the prayer that starts in Heaven. What we do is just close the circuit. You see, it is the will of God. Prayer is not some method by which man on earth gets his will done in Heaven. Prayer is a method where God in Heaven gets His will done on earth.”
• We are to pray in the will of God. A lot of times we pray with a covetous spirit, and we wonder why our prayers are not answered. It is because we prayed with the wrong intent.
• We are to pray in obedience. It is a waste of time to pray if we have unconfessed sin in our hearts. If you want God to answer your prayer, get your heart clean before God.
• We are to pray in fellowship. You cannot pray with a grudge in your heart toward somebody else.
• We are to pray in faith. Faith is not positive thinking or wishing things into existence. Faith is hearing from God, believing God, and acting on what you hear and believe.
Apply it to your life
How is your prayer life? Perhaps it needs some work. Today, repent of any unconfessed sin or selfish intent in your life that may hinder your conversation with God, and pray to Him. If you can, write out your prayers so that you might reflect on how God moves in your heart and shapes your life.

Pastor Rogers' teaching is so needed in 2019. This old-fashioned Biblical truthful preaching is missing in so many post-modern churches. I hope Adrian Rogers can be discovered by this generation. Thank You Lord for this man of God. Brian Taylor Oceanside CA

A worthwhile use of time to listen to Pastor Rogers. More ministers need his Bible-based approach. He's not afraid to preach repentance from dead works & sin and that we're saved from God's wrath by the precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ shed for us on Calvary's cross. :)

John S Pruett you’re right. Fewer and fewer pastors teach sin and judgment or wrath of God. Sadly many known pastors minimize Jesus like this Genie or little friend they know,,, or treating Him like we’re equal with His power. We’re justified by faith but we still need to confess our sin otherwise we grieve the Holy Spirit

I am not here to create truth. I’m here to enforce Truth. That’s great. Hes not one pastor who manipulates truth like so many esp in the mega churches. They bend the truth of scriptures to make it desirable to church goers

Luke 13:1-5 New Living Translation A Call to Repentance 13 About this time Jesus was informed that Pilate had murdered some people from Galilee as they were offering sacrifices at the Temple. 2 “Do you think those Galileans were worse sinners than all the other people from Galilee?” Jesus asked. “Is that why they suffered? 3 Not at all! And you will perish, too, unless you repent of your sins and turn to God. 4 And what about the eighteen people who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them? Were they the worst sinners in Jerusalem? 5 No, and I tell you again that unless you repent, you will perish, too.”

Praying in the Spirit means to PRAY IN TONGUES, THAT IS PRAYING IN THE SPIRIT ,SO SORRY WRONG ADRIAN . THAT IS THE ONLY WAY THAT YOU CAN PRAY IN THE SPIRIT. NOT THINKING YOU ARE PRAYING WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT, BUT ACTUALLY PRAYING IN TONGUES. HELLO.

Sorry but it's not all true, for 16 years I prayed to God to intervene in my life, I gave 1/3 of my check to charity, I help serve in crisis times. I even created a charity myself that I ran for 5 years. And never did God give me the tools to help the needy. Never did God say yes to my prayers.the time for it , came and went. So I realized it was all for nothing. I stopped giving to charity, I stopped the charity I created, and no longer help any one in need. I'm saying no to everyone, just like God said no to me. Just following God's lead. I wish everyone one well.

I gave thanks and praise to the good God. Thank you for granting me the financial strength, physical health, and time to do serve other people who needed help. Dear God, I did not get what I asked for, but you provided everything I needed. I sincerely thank you for giving me the ability to be thankful even in difficult circumstances. Thank you LORD.

( Number one thing you can do is to pray to God and tell HIM thank You my Savior Lord and God Jesus Christ for dying on the cross for my sins). I don't know if you know the story of Job from the Bible . Job, suffered immensely in his life, but Job did not gave up on God ever, instead Job said, "EVEN THOUGH HE SLAY ME I WILL STILL PRAISE GOD!" (Tell God, I will praise You God always and thank You always, even though You didn't answer my prayers) . Remember - - Our hearts are deceitful above all and desperately wicked. Therefore guard your heart because everything flows from it. Trust in the lord always even when life is upside down because God is in control. If your parents say No to you, are you going to stop loving your parents? Are you going to tell your parents "I will not call you or speak to you or visit you because you said No to me! So why do you want to stop saying "thank You God"! Tell God, Abba, even though You didn't answer my prayers, I will praise You because Your love endures forever. I can do all things through Lord Jesus Christ who strengthens me. Give all the glory to God. Please, kindly pray -- Father God, Can you please, kindly, help me to please You always, honour You and worship You always and not to give up on You ever, even when I fail in my life and even when You aren't answering my prayers. Help me God, I am struggling in my life. Help me to put the full armour of You God. Help me God to have strong faith in You always. Help me God not to give up on You ever. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. [ PROCLAIMING , “ THE LORD IS UPRIGHT ; HE IS MY ROCK , AND THERE IS NO WICKEDNESS IN HIM .” Psalms 92:15 NIV]

So you did all of those because you wanted God to bless you…but because you feel God did not answer your prayer you’ve turned your back on God? He knew before you did these things why you did them. It’s like you expected your “works” to get you what you wanted. This is not how God works….believe in him, study his word, live by the Bible and pray daily. Did you ever think ( just asking) that God had something different and better in store for you.
