Adrian Rogers: Six Principles to Fortify Your Faith (2390)

Sermon Overview
Scripture Passage: Hebrews 11:8-13
Hebrews 11:8 reminds us of the legacy of Abraham, who was called by God in his old age and became a champion of the faith: “By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance...”
Abraham's example gives us six principles to fortify our faith.
The Voice Principle: Abraham heard from the Lord.
The Lord appeared to Abraham through a supernatural experience. We have a greater advantage, having the written Word of God, the mind of Jesus Christ, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
The Venture Principle: we must obey what we know.
Abraham heard and obeyed. If we are having a faith problem, it could actually be rooted in an obedience problem.
Adrian Rogers says, "Our responsibility is not to totally understand, but to readily obey."
The Value Principle: We must establish priorities.
Abraham was a sojourner; he knew the land was not his home (See Hebrews 11:9-10.). If we live for this world, we will eventually conform to it and become an enemy of God. Instead, we must have the mind of Christ and prioritize knowing God’s will.
The Vision Principle: we must stay focused and remain disciplined.
We must keep our eyes set on things above, and not on things of this Earth. When we see the promises of God, which are otherwise unseen by those without faith, we have a responsibility to live by them.
The Vigilance Principle: our faith will be tested through heartache and tears.
We must remember that where God leads us, He will sustain us in it.
The Victory Principle: we get to enjoy the blessings.
Hebrews 11:12 says, “Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born as many as the stars of the sky in multitude-innumerable as the sand which is by the seashore.”
Abraham and Sarah conceived a child in their old age, and from that child, Abraham’s descendants were innumerable as the sand. Their victory came by a fortified faith.
Apply it to your life
Do you want a faith like Abraham, whose faith left behind a legacy? Listen to the voice of God, obey what you know to be true; remain disciplined, even when tested, keeping your eyes on things above.

Another God inspired message from Pastor Rogers. Watching from south eastern Pennsylvania. Our service, and hundreds of other church services, were canceled today because of icy roads so this was such a blessing to me.

Au contrare; I want OUT of this world but I feel TRAPPED here. For the last two years, I've felt desperate anxious to be out....rapture. death. Either one is fine. But no. I had breast cancer and even that was in the earliest stage and easily rectified. The longer you stay somewhere, no matter how disagreeable the place, the more you get used to or at least adapt to your surroundings. I have told the LORD, *"DEATH doesn't scare me, LIFE does. When can I come home?"*

It sounds like you are talking about your faith in evolution. It takes more faith and belief to believe in monkey mythology than it does to believe in a great God. God is great.

  • @tom-kz9pb

@@danielgr1 Science does not ever ask for "faith". Anyone putting forth a theory is considered obligated to provide evidence and proof for it. Without independent confirmation, any theory is held in skepticism, not accepted as fact. If "God" were as great as you say, God would not try to blame the flaws of Creation on his own creations. The 13.8 billion years of the existence of the universe should have been more than enough time for a great God to correct things that went so badly astray in his marvelous creation. Yours is the belief of a cultist, simply repeating ideas and phrases that have been absorbed from the cult.

I've been listening to his sermons for years and I never heard a heresy until today. "Lord, THIS IS your will" I still love AR, and will continue to listen to his sermons, but this is wrong.

You misunderstood what he’s saying. What he is saying is that he knows the will of God from His Word and that there’s no need to ask if it’s His will, he is standing on God’s word. An example would be: “Lord please guide me today...” but in actuality that’s not the way to pray bc His word says He will guide you if you are His so the better way to pray is “Lord thank you for being my guide today, I know You will be with me and lead me all day and everyday!” I hope this helps.
