Because we believe that His death paid for our sins and that gives us salvation is what gives us the incentive to follow Him, obey His commandments that are all of loving Him and our neighbor’s., but salvation is in just In the believe that He Is the Son of God and our mediator to be with His Father, is what He did is what saves not how we keep or try to do His commandments. There are many good people in the world that are not going to be saved because they do not believe in the Son of God. We know Him and then we are doing His works of love but they are not applied for our salvation, they are considered as filthy rags and not considered for proof that we are saved, just our believe in His grace. The thief on the right side of Jesus did not do anything but just believed and is saved. We are saved by repenting of sin, and trusting in Jesus alone for salvation. When this happens we receive the Holy Spirit and become Temples of the Holy Spirit. What he was saying was very biblical but maybe not grammatically word for word of you want to get down to details. When you have a genuine relationship with the Holy Spirit and surrender to His will, He leads your life. And when he leads your life, although you might stumble occasionally, you will naturally follow and keep the commands of God. Because His love pours out through you. It’s so…beautiful to feel 🥰. We know Christian’s by their fruits. If they have no fruits and have no change in lifestyle from the world, then they arnt truly saved according to 1 John. Not because works save, but because when your saved there is evidence. When you have that relationship and are in His pre scene and seeking His face, all you want to do is please God. And He naturally changes you from the inside out 🖤. Paul even said that if someone claims to be a believer but acts and lives like the world, to not even eat with them. Because they can corrupt true believers. I think that’s what Adrian was trying to teach. Thank you for your comment. I hope this helps :)
