Adrian Dantley (The Teacher) A Scoring Machine

Спорт

The Teacher was a scoring machine at 6'4 he was undersized but played bigman ball on the block, had a nice midrange game and a pretty quick first step that led him to master the art of the "And One" didn't really care too much about stopping anyone he just wanted the ball he averaged over 28 ppg 6 times and over 30 ppg 4 years in a row sheesh! 24.3 ppg, 54 fg% 5.7 rpg for a career and mentored and prepaired the Bad Boy pistons in to 2 world titles before being traded...He goes under the radar a lot but A.D was cold dude when it came to bucket getting! Salute O.G you were a beast

So patient. His work inside is truly great. He always had one or two bodies and hands on him as he leaned in and jumped and scored. Great strength. Must have had a sore back and body. Great video and thank you Adrian...

You should saw him in college. He would bring the ball up the court when the other team had a full court press. May be the greatest unexpected basketball player in history.

The amazing part about Adrian Dantley is he could score on anyone regardless of size, without going over the rim in an over the rim era. He's the last of the players that could do this. The closest player who can play that way is Zach Randolph.

A.D. is one of the greatest of all time !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A shame young people do not understand how shooting over 50% in your field goals is what makes you great !!!!! Dantley always shot over 50% throughout his career. Got traded too many times during his remarkable career. A superstar is A.D. !!!!!!!!!!!!

6'5" with no vertical, scoring most of his point on layups and half-hooks. it's like a 50s power forward wandered onto an 80s court. I mean that as a compliment. He proved that this 'out dated' style could be effective in any era with positioning and timing.

Growing up in SLC as a kid I got to see how awesome this guy was. One of the best ever! Unfortunately was stuck on some really bad Jazz teams. Then I felt got screwed in Detroit. I emulated his free throw routine and then passed that same routine on to my daughter. He was someone I admired as young man and I still do. Thanks Adrain

The most efficient scorer in NBA history, the media would say, the ball stop moving when he touched it, the object is to score more than your opponent, whether you do it by dominant offence or defense, he was his teams best offensive player, high field goal percent, most free throw attempts at a high percent, not many turnovers, wasn't a defensive Stalwart, but there have been some much worst, it was a shame he had to wait 16 years to be inducted in the HOF smh!

I don't know how he did it. He only shot a set shot without jumping. And how he got his shots off on the inside was amazing. I have never seen a player like him. No one could stop him. I remember my college coach told me to model my game after his. Wilt Chamberlain said after he retired that AD was the best pivot man in the league.

Nice woik. Loved Largent vid too. Growing up behind the Zion Curtain ( SLC and 'burbs) as a Jazz fan, it was AD we wanted to be. Self commentating whenever I had the rock: "AD, crossover dribble, hippity hop (HotRod Hundley fave saying) at the top of the key, slashes to the hoop, changes hands and lays it in. That defender has two broken ankles and AD scores AGAIN."

I cant remember the player. He said about Dantley. 6'5!! He is 6'4 and that is giving him a half inch. His Free throw thing i used to know. He was just recalling what his coach wooten told him. Take a breath , bend your knees, follow thru. Still wonder what he could of done if he stayed his senior year at Notre Dame. He scored 26 as soph. 33 as Jr. He was a guy that could win a game just with smarts and body position.

where was Detroit before AD came in though? getting eliminated by the Knicks, Celtics and the Hawks... the main issue that AD had with Detroit was he and Isiah were like cheese and chalk... and later on, AD fell out with Chuck Daly too... but despite the BS, AD had a designated role with Detroit and he did it very well... he gave their offense an added facet with his inside scoring... before, they were too perimeter-oriented. I know what-if scenarios are useless, but it was just unlucky for AD not to get at least one championship ring in 1987 and 1988.
