I adopted a pit bull when the local shelter put a call out to find someone to take the last dog left in the shelter when Covid started. I’ve never had a pittie till then and he turned out to be my savior ❤️.

Pitbulls are the most loving, goofy, fun, cuddly dogs ever, they just need the right person to raise them properly. I adopted a pitull and an American Staffordshire terrier. My amstaff was in a shelter twice by the time he was 4.5 yrs old. He was on his last chance per say. 145 days he spent there the last time, he was so skinny. As soon as my husband went to meet him , Woody brought over every single toy to him and then put is head in his lap. We brought him home that day. He's been with us for 3 years now and he is such the most loyal loving protective dog ever. Protective in the sense he protects our live stock. The best friend a gal could ask for, same with our pitty. We rescued him at 9 months old from a bad situation where he was crated and taunted and I know beat on because he has signs of a broken then healed rib. He was aggressive and scared of everything. Now couldn't tell he was the same dog. He loves his ducks and chickens. We raise them from chicks on the house along side the dogs and they are so gentle with them. Even try to play in the pond with them. They have a 40 acre backyard to play in. Best dogs ever.

This episode hit home on so many levels. I've volunteered for organizations like rocket dog rescue in SF, and may have volunteered with rocket dog a couple times. I'm now in South Carolina working with rescues, and have adopted some pups who needed rehabilitation. Pit bull mixes are what make the majority of dogs in a shelter. Backyard breeding and a bad reputation of the breed are some of the major reasons for there being so many shelter dogs, most of them pits, who are put down. The entire situation requires education, and lots of determination for those who continue trying to help shelter animals, it gets very sad and can break the toughest of people. Thank God for Cesar and his team for doing so much for dogs, and the pit breed. Daddy and Jr. were little earth angels who captured Cesar's heart, and I believe, brought him to advocate for the pit breed and all dogs. Cesar is a marvelous human being. Thank you Cesar!

In my experience, THIS is the best episode yet! We need the Cesar Milan principle in All shelters so the hoomans owning/operating/working them are able to fully assess each animal's needs for their whole health system and home them. Then again, I truly feel that the whole world needs to be trained on Cesar's methods. Ive been following him-You Cesar for many years now and have used these methods on canines I've cared for. They work beautifully and I am a better hooman for it. One day soon it is a dream of mine to go to CA and study more in depth and directly with Cesar for the sake of our animals on this planet. Thank you Cesar. In deep Gratitude! 🙏🏻🐕♾️

Ditto… I would life to see shelters have more in the way of behavior specialists and many do have access to this type of support but you have to ask for it. Years ago I adopted a Chihuahua through a shelter who had rescued hundreds of dogs from a horrible puppy mill situation. They puppy mill had 759 federal violations slapped on them. In my eyes these folks should have been locked up in a cage stacked on top of each other, no heat no air condition no fresh water and no food. These were the condition these dogs lived in plus they were housed in a metal building obe rate on top of another . You can just imagine the sound of rain, storms and whst their lives were like . I love Chihuahua’s and was looking for one and wanted to help. The shelter truly looked at how I was with the dogs before sending one home with me. The shelter knew this little girl needed lots of tine and supports . She was so traumatized. Even though I gave her plenty of comforts and suppplrts she never came very close to humans but give her an open backyard she just jumped for joy and was thrilled to be outside. We were never able to break her fears but we gave her the joy and a good home where she could enjoy her life. Boy could I have used Cesar then. The point I’m making is often shelters have behavior supports specialists so please ask for their help. That case was one thdt I would have loved to have had Cesarwith me.. There are so many dog thst were involved in thst case It broke my heart. Peopke thst have skills like Cesar are so hard to connect to and obe if tge reason’s like You Tube because yiy can learn so much from watching his clips. If you adopt a dog from a shelter and are havin some problems call the shelter to see if there are behavior specialist available or ask if they know someone who can help in this area. I really would lije to see a show from Cesar where he shares what to look fir in a trainer. Even though, I still need questions answered and when I need help I call a trainer but interview them first. :I want a trainer who uses gentle teaching techniques, who are good at training service dogs as this is what I need but you ask fior whatever your situation is. If we could only clone Cesar and it’s great to see his son following in his footsteps and see Cesar train other trainers and the a dogs owner. A great show would be Cesar sharing how to pick a trainer. . It’s amazing to watch Cesar work. Cesar loves animals and reads them so well, a truly amazing gift. Truly Cesar is a special guy who many learn from!❤️

I agree with all thet have said Pit bulls get a really bad rap. They are great dogs. Those that rescue these dogs truly know they have a job that goes with owning a dog and most shelters do a great job of screening those that come to adopt . People often get dogs especially puppies, because they are cute. People don’t realize these dogs grow up need socialization, exercise, compassion, training and time. What they often get is a few months of attention then they grow up and when this wears off this is when you get dogs returned to shelters or worse .People will take a Pitbull and give it a a cage, they want them to be guard dogs or they want to scare people away from their home. It’s so sad as these dogs often enter shelters aand get returned because they weren’t given a chance or people mistreated them they are often are the first to be put down. Luckily the shelter near me is a no kill shelter and they always need volunteers to walk the dogs, work with them, help with feeding and most of all share affection. Even if you can’t adopt a dog but love them, please pay a visit to your local shelter and share time with the animals . So if you can adopt please visit. Look at the difference just a visit from someone changed the possibility of adoption for the 2 dogs in this video just from a visit. We all can’t be Ceaser but we can share love and show we care to animals that are truly terrified. The 2nd dog I didn’t even understand why he was there he was so wonderful but maybe he just wasn’t with the right person to begin with. Anyway Cesar I think Your visits to shelters make such a difference to the stigma of adopting a dog. Often people think these dogs are in shelters because they have bad behaviors and they may but need some training or time. Usually what they have are simply sad stories. My little Chihuahua seemed like he was a monster when you first meet him at the local shelter and no one wanted him. First he was 10 years old, he barks and automatically nips at anyone’s heals when they first meet him. I had to work with him and those that came into my home as often it’s the person’s behavior that sets a dog off. I told people please just let him sniff, don’t be afraid because first of all his teeth are so bad he couldn’t bite you even if he wanted to. This makes people relax and give him time so that he can check them out, realize they aren’t a threat and he gives them an approval rating. He truly is a big baby and needed just a distraction when those negative behaviors occurred. He us a cuddlier and loving little dog who will have many years here with me. I love Cesars shelter visits they teach us so much! In another note my son and I both need service dogs and I have found 2 of the most remarkable service dogs at a shelter. Just goes to show you done if the best are right there when you take time to look for them. Both if these dogs had done health issues ensue to being in the streets but they also had incredible skills to help jy son and myself. My son’s dog helps him knee walk, is with him every second watching over him and is a constant companion as well as serves him well. They are out there just look fir them. Also I have to share thst both if these dogs were house trained. I think ut was due to the fact they were used to going outdoors they automatically were house broken when we rescued them. I would love to see a study on this as it’s inky jy threat thst a dog thst is on the streets will look to do his /her business outside or at least don’t be long to teach them because they are used to going outside. I inky mention this because often I hear we don’t want to adopt someone else’s problem and often it’s the fact they think the dogs will you are in the home. Ceaser any comments on thus? Keep doing yiyr shelter videos ut helps! ❤❤❤❤❤❤

WONDERFUL PEOPLE!! FANTASTIC DOGS!! BUT!! Whoever adopts Cassie should continue the process of training and loving the dog the way that Caesar and the lady from Rocket Dog Rescue have started with her. So many people do not train, and maybe it's because they have no idea how to, they are fearful, they are lazy, they need help to be consistent so the dog becomes emotionally healthy. Many people are not healthy emotionally, and I'm not saying that to be mean, we all have to heal ourselves of our problems, and if you are doing that in your own life, you can do that with your dog, but only if you are conscious of that fact.

Exactly !!! Some people think they can just get these larger Breeds, bring them home, potty trin & maybe teach a couple cute tricks like they do wil.smaller Breeds & then they are all good to go. It takes WAY WAY more than that with latger Breeds, (Pits, Am Staffs, German Shepherds, Rotties & so on. People need to be 10000% COMMITTED to raising/training them PROPERLY, starting from Day 1. There absolutely HAS to be a Mutual trust built & worked on daily . It's not all about "obedience", there is do so much more that goes into it & way too many people don't realize that, are too lazy, give up & change their minds or whatever the case may be, & that only leads up to bad human & dog relationships & ends up costing A LOT of dogs their lives. I adopted my American Staffy at 9 wks old & welcomed her into our family which we already had a Bichon Frise & a Chihuahua-mini poo mix & they all loved each other & got along great. My Staffy was raised to be gentle with the smaller dogs as well as my sons cat. She loves everyone & if she sees that We are comfortable with someone who visits, then she too is comfortable with them, that's the Mutual Trust she was raised to have, she plays off our body language & cues just as we play off of hers. If we see she is uncomfortable with something or someone we remove her from that situation, distract her, or come up with ideas to let her know she is & will be ok & can trust us to NEVER force any situation on her. She will come & stand by my side & lets me know she's not comfortable with something or someone. People just need to.psy attention to how their dogs try to communicate with them. She is 4 yrs old now & a beautiful, strong, hapoy & healthy girl who thinks everyone who comes to our home is here specifically to visit HER. Lol . Belly rubs & butt scratches gets you a friend for life & she remembers when the same person visits again who gave good rubs & scratches. Lol . We consider her a huge Blessing & privilege to have in our family. 💜💜💜💜
