Adjusting uPVC Door Compression and Height
Here I adjust the uPVC door compression and height using the Allen keys on the hinges.
This is sometimes a bit of trial and error so you may need to make small adjustments and check the door as you go.
It's worth making a note of any changes you make so you can revert in case you do not have the desired adjustment.

Glad it helped!
Blinding. Just what I need to do on my granny flat doors.
I’ve tried adjusting the x3 keep strike plates on the frame as I don’t a seal compression on my older upvc front door 😕 tried the bottom hex key tip but looks like the hinges just move left to right & not in out from the frame to stop the rattle 🤷🏻♂️

It is possible your hinges do not allow that adjustment. Could be that new hinges are required. You might be able to reinforce the compression with an extra weather strip to stick on the door perhaps.
Is it possible to over adjust the up/down so the mechanism comes loose? I have made the door so high I don’t seem to be able to get it to drop back

You may need to keep turning to get the threads to bite back into the fixing. I think I went a fair way up but must have just found a sweet spot before it fully unscrewed.
Do you know what brand/model these hinges are? I have three brass hinges that look identical to these in shape and form and the bottom one seems to have snapped... I've been trying to find out exactly what it is that I have (it's a rented property) and this looks just like it!

Hi, sorry I've had a good look at mine and like you there are no marks or names on them at all! They may have come with the door if there are any names on there perhaps?

@@ChrisHorswill I thought that might be the case, same with mine - no trademarks or logos anywhere in sight. I checked the door too but couldn't find anything on there either. They don't half make it difficult! Thank you for taking the time and effort to check for me ☺
Can’t find the compression on my flag hinge. I can see when I take the plastic cap off a plastic lug type that fits a 5mm hex key but doesn’t move if you get and turn it. Doing my head in now on the hinges I have.

Sure there are no others hiding away under covers?
Thanks Chris. I have a pair of patio doors with these type of hinges and they catch together when opening and closing just one. How do you adjust laterally? I see there is a allen bold behind the pop out cap but do you have to loosen any screws first do you know? Thank you.

Hi, I found I had to loosen the screws under the cover to allow proper adjustment. Sounds like you should be able to make the required adjustments to pull the doors apart slightly to prevent them from catching.
Good video but can I ask.... Are your hinges outside and if so why?

Yes they are, good spot. I think this is because the previous owner decided to have the door open outwards rather than inwards. It's either that or just down to the age of the door.

@@ChrisHorswill I'd say it was a massive security risk! On another note, I'm wanting to lay laminate in the kitchen but it looks tight, do you know what height the door can go to?

If the hinges were the ither way the door would open into the house

@@robmyster01 right? All external doors open into the house

Yes, I think due to the porch size, or previous owners requirement they had this door open outwards. For height, I will try to measure, its not much but you would get a few mm's which should be enough to clear your flooring.
