I love the Ultraboost 22, which is one of my favourite shoes. I am very tempted to buy the Ultraboost Light. Great video. I have watched several of your videos lately, and I think you make some of the best running shoe reviews on KZread. I started getting more into running about a year ago. I started with the UB 21, as I wore the original UB while I was working as a RN and loved the comfort and support it provided. I retired my UB 21s after about 350 miles and upgraded to the UB 22s. Both the 21s and 22s served me well as a beginner runner while I was logging less than 10 miles weekly. Now I’m averaging about 20-25 miles weekly, and this mileage the weight of the UB 22s is starting is starting to show. I've been dealing with a lot of ankle and knee pain, and realized I needed a true daily trainer (I also want to get faster). Ended up buying the UB Lights and have been on 2 runs with them. They are noticeably lighter and a great improvement, but at my currently milage I feel they are still too heavy for a daily trainer. I ordered the Nike Pegasus 39s, so I'll see how those compare. If anyone has any other suggestions for daily trainers that are best for about 20 miles weekly at around an 8:30-8:45 min/mile pace, I'd greatly appreciate the input!

You can go with Nike invincible 3 or Adidas adizero boston 12. If you need even more rugged or cheaper shoes, Adidas Duramo SL is also bang for the buck. Basically in Adidas just pick a lightstrike pro midsole shoe. That's a lot lighter and better for daily training.

Now that the Ultraboost Light is on sale for >50%, I finally picked up a pair simply because yes, I'm a fan of the design. Bought it as a casual walking pair but after my 1st run this morning, I'm rethinking it to use as a daily trainer. It's quite comfy and nice ride like you said. This will be my 1st ever Ultraboost to be used as a running pair as I'm giving away my Invincible 2 after 500km. (Superb pair). This will be the replacement

Finally the Ultaboost is at an acceptable price! I'm glad you picked up a pair and that you like it for running! The difference between running in this and previous Ultraboosts is night and day!

🐬 I’ve been training with the uncaged ultraboost 1.0 ever since 2018. Last year I started running with it, and I put up a 300+mile year and honestly I loved the performance for a shoe that was already 5 years old from when I bought it. Copped the ultraboost light yesterday and from everyone’s reviews, I’m really excited to start running in it!

the funny thing about utraboost is it bounce comfort effect. i moved from ultraboost 21 to hoka tecton x carbon plated. i felt stress and uncomfortable wearing carbon plated for daily training because is not bouncy but in terms of time, carbon plated sure does reduce my run time. but it does not make u want to run on them........... i think i will buy back ultraboost light instead of going for vaporfly 2.

The Tecton/VF2 are not really comparable to the UB because of the exact reasons you mentioned. It’s just not as comfortable to run in a plated shoe. Sometimes (most of the time) we just want to log our runs and feel good! The VF2 is good for race day but you’ll get a lot more use out of the UBL. 👊🏽

I've ran in the ultra multiple times but only around the block and gym days , I couldn't do anymore with those shoes but I can say they do last for a long time. But when it comes to a true running shoes performance it still doesn't have it. 🐬

Yeah, I get what you're saying; there is a lot of competition out there that do it better, but it does have longevity locked down!

🐬 my UB19 still looks brand new, worn once every 6 months or so, to justify keeping it. Good improvements with UB23 but not enough to reel me in yet.

The UB19 was a totally different shoe, but you’re good to wait! These will go on sale soon enough and you’ll be able to pick them up for a huge discount!

First pair of boost ive bought was og ub 3.0, from there i had 4.0,ub unchaged, two pairs of 2019,2020. After ub 2020 ive tried 2021 and that was first time i had a walk in ultra boost and i hated it. I dont know if it was by different shape, upper knit or something else, but it felt like the boost was stiffer than before and also it was first time that plastic line inside the top of the food was squeezing my little fingers. I havent experience that until ub 2021, i have pretty wide feet, but i went 1 size up for every ultra boost i got and i loved the fit. After returning ub 2021 i went for ultra boost 19.5 DNA which i wear since now, love the shoe, after wearing ultra boosts 5 years straight i can tell for me 19.5 DNA was my overall favourite. First ub i felt in love with was ultra boost 19., i got two pairs, but the knit didnt hold up for a long time, 19.5 dna is feels like something between 19 and 20, the shoe deserves so much love, ive never heared anyone talking about 19.5 dna, for me its goated. Im not a runner i wear it for casual walking so i can talk from casual walker experience. Its true first few walks were like a hell because the 19.5 runs tight in midfoot, but the upper stretched after some time and since then i enjoy every walk in them. Unfortunately in our country there arent avaible at the moment and one im wearing right now are going to turn into dust soon so im thinking about giving a shot to ultra boost light, but im kinda afraid its going to be same experience as ultra boost 21. I also tried x_plr boost few weeks ago. The shoe is comfortable, but i felt super unstable wearing it unfortunately. I would probably wear it for short distances, but im walking a lot and usually long distances. Do you think ub light could be a decent option in my case? Btw loved the video, keep it up mate!

I know ub light is similar to ub 21 and 22 thats why its tough decision for me if i should try them, but i feel like there isnt much option in adidas at the moment. Og ultra boosts were ok, but not as good as line 2019-2020/19.5 so i dont want 1.0

I also didn’t like the Ultraboost 21 so I was skeptical about trying the Ultraboost Light. I was pleasantly surprised that the UB Light feel much better than the UB21. Even though the foam is a little on the firmer side, it’s not too firm to be comfortable.

I will wait for the ultraboost ultralight. 😂. 🐬

@@its_Matt_B_ adidas can do it. They just did halfway. Remove the guard lace grids, reduce the upper, and less out sole rubber. All easy fixes… this is a hybrid lifestyle running shoe…. 🤔 I am thinking what would look like a hybrid of Nike Jordan 1 on vaporfly midsole…..LOL……that’s what adidas is doing..

@@hkim9151 ZoomX on a pair of Jordans is a million $ idea! 💰 As far as lifestyle shoes go, yeah, perhaps. However, after running in a previous version the drop in weight makes this shoe actually runable now, so it’s a lot less lifestylish.

I was buying an UltraBoost every 8-9 months, for years. I was really, really disappointed with the 2021 generation (too tight, hurting my feet), and never wanted to buy an UB again. - I wear the shoe only for shopping in the city, but not for running. But after a very long time of widening the shoe, it becomes comfortable for running also! So I will give the new light generation another try :-)

The UB21 has been my least favorite shoe i've reviewed! I was so happy with the UB Light and didn't experience the same deficiencies as with the 21. I' glad to hear you'll be giving them a go! LMK what you think after you wear them for a bit!

Hey! I’m currently choosing between the Ultraboost Light/23 (shoe reviewed in this video) and the Nike Vaporfly 2 Men's Road Racing Shoes. My situation is that I am looking for/need a shoe which will function as a daily trainer (running), a daily lifestyle shoe (school), and a race day shoe as I am looking to tryout for the school’s track program this upcoming winter. In other words I need a 3-in-One shoe for those reasons listed and I do not necessarily have a budget but I have seen that the Alphafly 2 which retails at $250-260 on the Nike website are on sale for as low as $149 with the release of the new vaporfly 3’s but they are really expensive. I’ve heard that the vaporflys are a great shoe but not the most durable whereas the Adidas Ultraboost Light is quite durable and not necessarily a marathon shoe and having owned three Ultraboost in the past, I can vouch. You seem to more know than I though which brings me to ask which of the two you would prefer for my situation. Moreso what YOU would choose for me as I know I need to find what’s best for me but I do not necessarily have the patience for that 😅😅. Thank you and when I climb the ranks in my district (and then state and further) I will remember your guidance as you helped me find the best performer! 👍🏼🐐💪🏽💪🏽

This is a tricky question and I'll get right to the point and say that neither shoe will do all three things well. The VF2 are a race-day (or fast workouts) shoe only. They will not last as long as a daily trainer (like the UBL). The UBL will cover you by being a daily trainer AND a lifestyle shoe! That's 66% of your requirements! I would buy the UBL for now and as you progress as a runner and looking to squeeze out every bit of performance, you can then buy the VF2. Good luck and LMK what you choose and how they work out for you! Another option that just came to mind is the Brooks Hyperion Max or the Skechers Razor 4. If you like how either of those look, they would serve all three of your requirements better.

I got the Ultraboost Light and it is a good shoe but it is no longer a very comfortable and stable as the Ultraboost 22 was with a very cushioning soft Boost and a more soft and less snug fit. The Light now competes more against a Nike Pegasus or a Wave Rider, what is cool . Hopefully Adidas will not put this Boost Light and a smaller and less stable LEP in the Solar Glide 7 ! The Solar Glide is awesome because it is super stable and with a comfortable and bouncy ride with the old heavy Boost. Not necessarily lighter is best ... I loved a lot last year both my heavy Solar Glide 5 and the lightweight Gel-Nimbus 24. Can't say one is better high cushioning shoe then the other. But the Nimbus was more versatile for sure. Like the Ultraboost Light is as well this year.

Hi Matt, thank you for the review. I'm football player and I'm looking for running shoes which would allow me to run sprint intervals (specifically "the John Terry training") on a threadmill in order to get ready for the season in september. Do you think this pair would be a good fit? Thank you for your input and expertise.

Hi! I would probably recommend you go with a running shoe a little lighter if you’ll be doing sprint intervals. Try something like the Saucony Endorphin Speed 3!

I am still not excited about UB23 for running. They should also reduce the weight of the upper. Especially the plastic midfoot cage is completely unnecessary for a good lockdown. On the other hand, I think BoostLight has a future in other shoes. I would like BoostLight to replace LightStrike in Adizero lineup. Boston, Adios and Adizero SL are candidates in my opinion. 🐬

I agree the cage is not necessary for a good lockdown and I would not be surprised if they bring the Light Boost to other shoes just for a refresh! It seems like an easy upgrade for them! Shoe companies thnk many years in advance, so perhaps next year we'll see a reduced weight upper. I doubt that cage is going anywhere, though.

Hey. Which shoes do u reckon for a new runner ? I run about 5-10km every 2 days at 5.30min /km in city (shock) and i plan to do a semi marathon. I m 176cm and 85 kg and i got crow's feet tendonitis (need cushion). I have adidas glyde boost and i love them but they get old. I was planning to talke ultraboost 23 but i saw saucony race 3, triumph 20, invincible 3 and mach 5 and more ! Which shoes do u reckon ? i have max 200 euros. Ty dude

You have so many options! 200€ is a lot of money! These UB Light are a good option, and will last you a long time. The Hoka Mach 5 are like feathers compared to the UB Light, but they don't have outsole rubber, so it's unlikely they will last as long (although they will feel a lot faster). The Invincible 3 could be a good fit, but also the Pegasus 39 is a good all-rounder that's fairly inexpensive (if you like Nike). You can also consider the Triumph or even the Brooks Ghost if you want a good, albeit a little boring, daily trainer!

🐬 always enjoyed your review, they're on sale for $70 now, looking for justification to buy, have too many shoes already, ouch

I have the Ultraboost 19 but still much better than the 22. It was disappointing and a waste of money as i used it only 2 times. The light version sounds more interesting, performing and more comfortable..

@@its_Matt_B_ the ultrasound 19 is still made but they call it UB DNA. It doesn't have the rigid plate. It is more comfortable but has less cushioning than the UB22. I have all the Boost and UB models would love to try the new UBL. But after collecting so many shoes i started to hate buying a shoe and not using to run or casually.

The UB20 was the last model before they redesigned the Ultraboost. Now that the weight has dropped, I think this is a good option for a daily trainer (easy/recovery day shoe). Of course, the UB20 can be picked up for substantially less than the new UB Light.

@@its_Matt_B_ maybe I need longer heels 🤷🏽‍♂️. It's been a huge problem on the 21, 22 and now the light for me. Ultraboost 19 was the best. Adidas is the king of the nearly perfect shoe with one huge flaw.

Perhaps 10.3 oz is considered "light" in Germany.

🤣 Light is a relative term! It’s feather-light compared to previous versions!

Unfortunately, I'm very disappointed with my ultraboost they're NOT as comfy and cushioning as shown in the youtube videos. I guess, in INDIA these branded shoes don't have the same quality that you guys get in the US.

I wonder if the quality is different or if your expected a softer ride. To me they're not particularly soft, and yet they're still comfortable. Did you try these Ultraboost Light or another version of the Ultraboost. Before this I wore the Ultraboost 21 and I didn't find those comfortable.

@@its_Matt_B_ to be honest, no , I prefer more of their lighter stuff ( adios 6, 7) , I did have the Boston 10 for about 300 miles but it had an annoying way of altering my foot fall , so I’m just have the sen 8, and adios 7 at present .
